How about a cute rounded triangle shawl with a little bit of lace, and an easy to remember stitch pattern?
This pattern makes a skinny scarf that you work on until you run out of yarn. You can also make a big, cozy shawl out of it. It all depends on which yarn you choose and how much of it you have.

Find out which cast on methods work best for basic edges, for reverse stitch borders or for cuffs and necklines that need a stretchy cast on.

How do you begin a Tunisian crochet in the Magic Ring (also known as Magic Circle)?
In this short tutorial, I show you how to begin such a project and how to continue working in the magic ring using Tunisian crochet stitches.
I show you how to make several rows before closing the Magic Ring, so you have space in your project to pick up all the loops comfortably.

My simple solution is a lining sewn inside it that will keep the wind out and allow you to wear your beautiful handmade hats in any kind of weather.

You can incorporate this type of ribbing (1x1, 2x2 or 3x3 rows) into your projects worked sideways, or you can use short rows on the edge of a project to attach the ribbing to the side of a panel worked in another direction.
