Inspired by the incredible scenery of Mt. Fuji surrounded by wispy clouds, this series is designed to capture this natural wonder using a variety of decorative techniques. The debut pen in the Fuji Unkei series is the “Uroko-Gumo.” The body of this new fountain pen has been cut into an irregular pattern, in order to capture the beauty and uniqueness of cirrocumulus clouds (“Uroko-Gumo” in Japanese). Incorporating slight indentations on the body produces a complex play of light and reflection on the pen body, creating a natural, beautiful aesthetic. New Fountain Pen Releases of Appelboom: Visconti Van Gogh Flowering Plum Orchard Fountain Pen Appelboom Pennen 2023-07-09 | The Flowering Plum Orchard is the second oil painting selected by Visconti from Van Gogh’s Japanese series The artist made this painting in 1887 from a Japanese print by Hiroshige, called Plum Garden in Kameido. New Fountain Pen Releases of Appelboom: Leonardo MZG 2.0 Dutch Pen Show 2023 Tulip Fields Appelboom Pennen 2023-06-13 | The Dutch Pen Show takes place during the first weekend of June. By now it has become a tradition that Leonardo Officina Italiana creates a special limited edition pen to celebrate the show. Visitors of the 2022 edition voted for a ‘green’ theme, so this year’s theme for the pen show is ‘Tulip Fields’. For the 2023 edition, resin wizard Jonathon Brooks of the Carolina Pen Company was asked once more to create a custom resin. His interpretation of ‘yellow tulips in a field of green, with a few overhead clouds and a bit of shine’ came out spectacularly! The pen blanks were then sent to Leonardo, where they were turned into beautiful pens. For the first time this year, the pen will be available with 3 different trims: gold, silver and ruthenium. It is a tribute to heroism. The Old Man and the Sea is a stylistic and thematic departure from the Montegrappa Hemingway collector series (2016-2020). While past editions dealt with the author’s life, this newest creation pivots to the plot of one of his most iconic stories: the fictional account of the plucky fisherman, Santiago, and his epic struggle to bring a giant marlin to shore.Written in Cuba, The Old Man and the Sea was the last volume of fiction published during Hemingway’s lifetime, and many – including the author – have called it as his finest work. After premiering in LIFE magazine’s 1 September 1952 edition, it earned Hemingway the 1953 Pulitzer Prize for Fiction. Limited to only 70 pieces per writing mode on two tiers reference the 70th anniversary of this prestigious award.Lost wax casting and hand-enamelling capture the central elements of Hemingway’s story. A carved cap and blind cap represent Santiago’s skiff in kotibé mahogany, while enamelled segments depict sea and sky – providing a backdrop for the edition’s centrepiece. Inspired by early editions of the book, a full-length sculpted silver barrel dramatizes the fisherman’s struggle with the marlin.Further detailing includes a silver fishing-rod clip, sculpted trim rings, an engraved grip section and a high-relief cap top brandishing Hemingway’s game-fishing monogram. New Fountain Pen Releases of Appelboom: Diplomat Aero Pearl White Lacquered Fountain pen Appelboom Pennen 2023-05-07 | This new release is quite something. It is on the most popular model of Diplomat, the Aero. And this time it is not a matte finish, like we usually see on this model. But a lacquered edition in pearl white. The Aero is characterized by groove-like depressions on the barrel and cap which lends the pen next to its classic form a modern spirit. The lacquered finish is something completely new and I am wondering if they will continue this in the future with other colors as well. New Fountain Pen Releases of Appelboom: TWSBI Mini AL Grape Fountain pen Appelboom Pennen 2023-05-06 | TWSBI launched another new fountain pen! This time in their Diamond Mini range. It is the AL Grape. A pocket fountain pen with a piston filling system, resulting in a large ink capacity (1.3ml) for such a small fountain pen. The TWSBI Diamond Mini is made of polycarbonate, with silver coloured details. The cap is smooth while the barrel is faceted. The pen has clear barrel that shows the mechanism very well. The clear body gives the TWSBI also a different look depending on the ink it is filled with. The TWSBI logo finishes the top of the cap. Noticeable also on this Grape edition are of course the purple colored grip section, which is smooth, and the purple piston mechanism.
