How Simple Exercises Can Boost Your Immune Health Dramatically
Continuing with our series of interviews with the remarkable folks at Jacksonville University (be sure to check out the channel for the previous videos if you haven’t seen them), today’s offering is going to focus on, as the title suggests, exercises to boost immune health - dramatically.
Exercise benefitting us is not something that is going to blow anyone’s mind. We all know it has incredible benefits, but we tend to limit those benefits to cardiovascular health and weight-loss. But do you know to what extent exercise benefits the human body and boosts our immune health? Do you know the physical, mental and psychological effects moderate daily exercise can have on our body and mind? I was fortunate to sit and discuss these in depth with Dr. Carena Winters, Director of Exercise is Medicine® and Associate Professor of Kinesiology at Jacksonville University.
We are living in a time of very little physical activity. As technology progresses, it is increasing productivity in one sense and certainly making life more efficient and simple, but it is actually minimizing our movement and daily activity. Pandemic aside, we spend our days sitting in the car, sitting in front of the computer or at a desk, in front of the television, sitting on the sofa or on our beds engrossed with our mobile devices, and laptops, and as we’ve all felt recently, binge watching Netflix or the news or addicted to our mobile devices and social media apps. It’s all getting out of control and the easier our lives become in this sense, the more at risk we are and vulnerable when it comes to chronic disease, obesity, mental health issues, weak immune health, and so much more.
Dr. Winters was tasked at Jacksonville University with implementing health initiatives launching “exercise on campus” in 2009. Now having 280 institutions worldwide, encourage people to simply move more. All in an effort to bring awareness that exercise is the prevention and management of chronic disease. As Dr. Winters says, exercise can be as effective as Prozac or behavioral therapy for overcoming depression and even anxiety.
In the following video we will be discussing the following topics: strength and resistance training, aerobic exercise and some of the keys to strengthening and boosting our immune systems and overall immune health, dramatically.
We will discuss Dr. Winter’s recommendations for simple and effective daily exercises that we can incorporate into our lives such as walking while in meetings, moving around the house and not allowing ourselves to be too still, walking our dogs, walking alone or with loved ones, outdoor time, whether in our gardens or in a local park. She discusses walking and moderate exercise for immune function, cycling, running, (dancing!) and how it can activate our endocannabinoid system, and yoga as an anti-inflammatory, keeping it all fun!
Moderate intensity exercise is, as she calls it, the sweet spot when it comes to dramatically boosting your immune health. She teaches us that simple exercise really is an amazing medicine and that simply moving allows us to have our “feel good” hormones in balance. Dr. Winters conducted a systematic review of exercise and its physical and psychological benefits we can experience and found that exercise is not only a general energy and brain booster that benefits you throughout the day but it is also has incredible calming effects.
What really struck me about this interview was the doctor explaining that simply meeting the standard simple exercise requirements during the day, for example 30 mins of intense or moderate exercise is not always enough and can still put us at risk for chronic disease if the rest of the 24 hrs of our day is too sedentary. For example, a 20 minute walk is wonderful if we are also moving sufficiently throughout the day vs. a 20 minute walk and then spending the rest of the day in the car, at a desk, and on the couch.
This is an important video and one that can truly help you if you are suffering from any health issues. Our bodies are truly are greatest healers if we treat them properly and use them as they were intended. I hope with that said that you enjoy and put into motion the words of wisdom contained in this interview and we’ll see you on the next one.
Also, don’t forget to hit subscribe and the notification bell for more upcoming videos that you do NOT want to miss. Thanks as always and to your health happiness and a better life :)

How to Overcome Mental Health Issues NATURALLY
Facing mental health issues at any time in your life, be it mild depression or the “blues”, or something more serious and chronic, mental health issues are very real for many of us today. No more so than right now. Anxiety, depression, worry, fear, sadness, whatever it may be, it is safe to say it has affected almost everyone on earth and as we work through the serious issues that we face in the world today, and with them the uncertainty of what to expect and what lies around the corner, it is important to recognize that we are all experiencing at least one of these if not all. And we are experiencing them together.
As universal as these mental health symptoms are, they can make us feel incredibly isolated and alone and that only perpetuates the issue. But how do we work towards alleviating any one of these at any time, let alone now during the current global climate? It is a question we all ask and to be honest, if we had that answer it would be a non issue. That is why it is all the more perplexing, as our thoughts dictate our feelings, we enter a vicious cycle that is difficult to control or break out of and as a result we feel more and more isolated and controlled by our thoughts and our mental health and that in turn can affect us physically and manifests itself in a number of ways.
Today this video will focus on simple ways we can control our mental health and negative thought cycle while we are at home and in these trying circumstances. I am thrilled to have had the opportunity to sit with Dr. Whitney George from Jacksonville University in Florida, to talk about how she feels we can lift this weight and calm our minds.
Dr George discusses such topics as the importance of human interaction as a remedy for a number of mental health issues, isolation as she reminds us is often used as a form of punishment. As the ancient proverb says, “fools isolate, wise men seek solitude”.
Dr. George also delves into fascinating topics ranging from the difference between extroverts and introverts and how to handle their lives amid stress and anxiety and how to use general mood “boosters” such as exercise, fresh air, walking, diet, partaking in hobbies and distractions, enjoying family time, and time with your loved ones or partners, even our interaction with pets. Relaxation techniques such as meditation and yoga, or prayer, are also very important, as is my favorite of them all: being kind to one another as we all struggle collectively with the same or similar issues.
Dr. George also points out that the importance of being aware of our mental state is not something that should be overlooked and knowing when you are not feeling right inside or struggling with negative thoughts that are directly affecting your way of life is something that needs to be addressed and not ignored. As such, we must implement these new ideas and simple remedies showing how to help us through our struggles.
The importance of recognizing that we are collectively experiencing these human feelings throughout the world and on varying levels is of the utmost importance and we must not judge ourselves too harshly nor should we ignore signs that we need to focus on healing and self reflection.
There is a wealth of experience and knowledge in this interview and this video has something that can touch us all. I hope it helps you as much as it helped me and that it inspires you to remind yourself that you are not alone as you go through trials and experience any degree of mental health struggles. We are all in this together and together we will share and encourage each other and not feel any shame.
Remember, be kind to yourself, be kind to others, and know that whatever you are personally struggling with, you are in control, and it too shall pass.
Thank you as always for watching and a special thanks to Dr. Whitney for her time.

3 Simple and Natural Tips to Boost Your Ketones
We are in uncertain times and we don’t have the freedom that we’re used to these days, so this video is coming from my sanctuary - my garden. I’m incredibly blessed to live so close to the ocean and I don’t take it for granted for a second. The sound of the waves, the ocean breeze, the palms swaying and coconuts at my feet. These are the details that are so easily overlooked when we are busy and leading hectic lives, but right now we are experiencing the gift of time, and time is our greatest reminder of what we have and what we need to be thankful for.
In this video I’m going to talk about ketones. We have all heard this word and we use it as part of our keto lifestyle but do we really understand what it means and what it can do for our bodies?
Well, In this video blog I will be giving you 3 simple tips to activate and boost your ketones.
Why is this important? Ketones are chemicals made in your liver, usually as a metabolic response to being in dietary ketosis. That means you make ketones when you don’t have enough stored glucose (or sugar) to turn into energy. When your body senses that you need an alternative to sugar, it transforms fat into ketones. Ketones, also known as “ketone bodies,” are byproducts of the body breaking down fat for energy. This only happens when your carbohydrate intake is low, and your body switches into a state of ketosis.

Boost Your Metabolism - 3 Simple Keto Tips
In this video I’m going to talk about 3 ways in which you can kick start and boost your metabolism, simply and naturally, while on the keto lifestyle. While we continue our lives under lockdown and with certain restrictions, we have the opportunity to embrace the time we have to do what we love to do, to try new things, and to continue healthful habits for our minds and bodies, and for our families.
Well, this and the many other videos I have posted and plan to post are all made with your health and wellbeing in mind. I encourage you to explore the channel for more content to help you.
Metabolism is a topic I have been researching and focusing on for quite some time, especially when writing my latest book, High Fiber Keto (available now - amazon.com/High-Fiber-Keto-Science-Based-Metabolism/dp/1401958877/ref=tmm_hrd_swatch_0?_encoding=UTF8&qid=1588030618&sr=8-5).
Metabolism plays big part in that book and an even bigger one in our lives. There are many misconceptions when it comes to metabolism and it is really an area that hasn’t always been explored hand in hand with keto. In this video however, we will look at three simple ways that you can boost yours. It’s a much needed health kick for those of you who are especially health conscious right now, and even more important for the inactivity many people are facing. I hope you can apply these simple life hacks to your healthy routine, and I guarantee you’ll see a huge difference.

While circumstances around the globe are certainly very different right now, and though we are hindered somewhat, this year's celebrations of Earth Day (or Earth Week as I like to call it) are limited to our immediate and virtual surroundings, but that’s ok! This is a time for reflection and we all have plenty of time for that right now. Even though we can't celebrate our planet with our community, or participate in tree plantings, national park visits, clean ups or any other of the activities that we’d normally engage in at this time of the year, there are outdoor activities to enjoy within the vicinity of your home. So, why not take a walk through the neighborhood, or go for a run alone and relish your solitude, sit under a tree enjoying the time for free thought or listening to a podcast. Or take advantage of the opportunity for quality time with your loved ones.
Studies have shown that time in nature, whether alone or with loved ones has a profound impact on your health, be it lowering blood pressure and stress, alleviating depression and anxiety or even preventing cognitive decline. We live in a beautiful world and enjoying it and appreciating it is good for our Mother Earth and good for our health, and it is the latter that I want to talk about in today’s video. While we live in a beautiful world we also live in a polluted one. We are all working hard to be conscious of this and to take action to prevent the decline of our wonderful planet, because sadly not only are the pollutants and toxins affecting the planet, but they’re also affecting your health and wellbeing.
Today’s video is all about how to detox your body. Did you know that on average we consume a credit card-sized amount of plastic in a single week? Pretty shocking. We are living in scary times and in an age where viruses, toxins, pharmaceuticals, pollutants and harmful technology surround us. It is a time to be aware, a time to be educated, to be up to date and prepared not just for your own sake, but for your loved ones and those around you. The more educated we are and the more we share with our communities about the dangers of the world we live in, the more we can be on alert and take action to reset our bodies and take charge of our health, promoting better health now and for our futures. The truth is it’s very difficult to avoid all the toxins that were perhaps unheard of thousands of years ago, when foods were grown in healthy soil, chemical processing and mass produced foods we not a thing. When there simply were no pollutants and the air was clean. When people slept when there was no light and rose with the sun instead of staring at screens and experiencing radiation. The point it, even at home we are subjected to harmful toxins and unless we retreat to the mountains it’s not realistic to assume that it’ll get better, but what we can control is how we respond to it and how to detoxify our systems. There are a great number of ways to detox your body but I will focus on a select few as this is most likely the first of many videos on this subject.
Thanks for watching and be sure to subscribe if you want to see more. In my latest book, High Fiber Keto, we worked tirelessly to create some really unique and inspired recipes, many of which you’ll see here on my channel. So be sure to go back and check those out and look forward to many more, coming soon. In today’s video we’re going to be looking at a breakfast recipe that is one of my favorites for a number of reasons. I call this a breakfast recipe but as I’ve said in my recipe videos since day one: there are no rules. Make it your own. Do what you want and feel empowered in the kitchen. Eat it for breakfast, lunch, dinner, midnight snack - you’re the boss so get creative and have fun with it. But, though you are always at liberty to tweak ingredients, I would stick to the recipe as closely as you can with this one. Here’s why…
Number one, the amount of chia is ideal to give you that wonderful creamy consistency. Most of you all have used chia or at least know about it, but for those who don’t, chia has a wonderful ability to release a hydrating gel and and absorb liquid and thicken when added to water, making it an excellent addition to any liquid-based recipe that you want to add some texture to. But texture is not the only reason I decided on this superfood for this recipe. Not only is it packed full of nutrients, the list of which is too long to include here, but its nutrient density and low calorie count can actually promote weight loss! So if you’re worried about carbs or being knocked out of ketosis, worry not.
Chia seeds are also high in antioxidants, as well as being high in protein and fiber, which is very important as part of a high fiber keto diet, and of course the essence of these recipes videos. We are all eating too little fiber and while it is the theme of these recipes, I’ll let the book explain why fiber is so important and shouldn’t be ignored as part of your keto lifestyle.
Last but certainly not least, chia seeds are anti-inflammatory. Why is this so important? I have personally struggled with inflammation caused by an autoimmune disorder and immune health has been a huge part of my life and my mission to improve the quality of your life and maximize your health. Which is why, of course, I am such a huge proponent of keto. I put a lot of focus on our immune health in High Fiber Keto and recipes like this in the book, where we can both reap nutritional and health benefits while enjoying delicious food, that is the ultimate goal, and this recipe has been created with that in mind; a reduction in sugar that in turn helps to support our immune system. It’s a win-win, to say the very least.
It’s always nice to have a pudding like this in the fridge just ready to be served and enjoyed whenever you like. No excuses, no guilt. Just delicious-healthy. ;)
We’ve got some beautiful ingredients on display in this recipe and each one plays such a vital role in your keto health. We have good fats of course; coconut milk, macadamia nut milk, creamy MCT (naomiwhittel.com/product/creamy-mct-vanilla-coconut-swirl), we have hemp seeds, chia, and of course flavor and nutrient-filled additions such as Ceylon cinnamon, and real vanilla extract. I’ll explain the how’s and the why’s in the video but this recipe was inspired by my love of all things “good fat” and the joy of indulging in a treat. While I have always had a sweet tooth, I’ve taken great pride in being able to indulge carefully by choosing higher quality ingredients and most importantly, by looking to the science behind what sugar and bad fats do to our health. It has changed my life. In particular - my immune health. This has allowed me to quiet my cravings – the best outcome of all. The good fats satisfy your body’s deepest nutritional needs, leaving little room (or appetite) for the junk and sugars that cause our bodies so much harm and inflammation.
Let me know your thoughts in the comments section. I love to get feedback, and even ideas from you all, so share away!
Thanks for watching and be sure to subscribe and click that subscribe button and notification bell to be the first to receive alerts as and when I post new videos.
Cheers, and to your health and happiness.:)

Keto. Ketones. Ketosis. Ketogenic. Fat adapted. Though keto is surprisingly simple, It can all sound a little confusing and overwhelming at times. This channel has focused so much attention on a wide variety of topics, keto being the main one and the goal has always been to uncover the truth behind this remarkable diet. We have tried to cover almost every aspect of keto possible and will keep on exploring new areas, answering your questions, giving you new recipes, sharing fascinating insight from scientist and experts, and above all, using this platform to support your health and happiness goals, whatever they may be. While keto has been the most prominent subject of our videos over the last year, one aspect of the keto lifestyle I’ve never actually shared (yet have been asked about too many times to remember), is my own personal keto journey and experience. The whole thing, from start to finish, including the difficulties and challenges, the high and lows and the wonderful results that have made me so passionate about what keto can do for us. Through my own research and reading, I was able to recognize that the inflammation I had as a result of being born with an autoimmune disorder was in fact disappearing and I began to see changes in my autoimmune health very quickly. By simply removing sugar from my diet I was able to balance my blood sugar levels and control my insulin spikes to the point where I literally saw life changing effects on my body, and understood the true potential of this lifestyle change. These experiences have shaped my opinion of the ketogenic lifestyle to the point that I simply want to share and share, whether here on my channel, through my two books, Glow15, my first and a New York Times Bestseller, and my second which has just been released, High Fiber Keto which is on shelves now (links below if you’re interested in reading either of them) and through my company, Naomi Whittel Brands, where I have developed keto-friendly products and supplements of the highest quality to support those who wish to improve their health dramatically.
I took to keto very easily and it just felt right, to put it simply. As with anything in life, you need to educate yourself about what you’re doing and be sure you’re doing it properly, but keto, despite its depth and science is actually very simple at its core and that’s what I love about it.
One constant in my life has always been my love of travel and other cultures. I think it is something I was born with as my very childhood was an adventure; born in Switzerland to an English father and a French mother and spent time in all countries, experiencing their cultures, and having a taste (quite literally) of their different foods and appreciating good foods and diet and health from a young age.
This part of my childhood instilled a sense of adventure in me very early on. I love exploring. It is simply part of my nature. I have often described myself as having an insatiable curiosity when it comes to other cultures around the world and have spent much of my career and adult life going off the beaten path in countries all over the world, and in doing so I have seen many patterns emerge. Certain healthy cultures not viewing fat as a bad thing (I’m talking about healthy fats of course), and other cultures eating the things we have been told are bad for us, and not eating the foods and ingredients that are so prevalent in the USA where I have lived for most of my life. I think it’s fair to say that seeing that there was actual evidence and scientific study backing these findings and observations were unknowingly part of my growth and the beginning of my journey into the world of keto. That itself is another story and another video, but for now, I want to share my journey as it began approximately 2 years ago and in doing so I hope that this answers questions or at the very least, encourages you wherever you are in your own keto journey.
Thanks as always for watching :)

We’re back with another smoothie recipe, only… this time we’re adding an ingredient to this smoothie that perhaps you might not see too often, but before you judge us for putting artichoke hearts in a smoothie, remember that one only needs to taste to be convinced. This recipe often reminds me of the first time we saw people putting avocados in smoothies, it seemed strange and kind of wrong, yet, they proved to be delicious and creamy and a few videos back I have a great creamy berry avocado smoothie recipe you should check out (youtube.com/watch?v=5aUF1692j-c) but avocados have slowly become a much sought after ingredient in healthy smoothies, especially keto smoothies, in recent years, and now we see them everywhere. Well, so it may be with the artichoke. This recipe is featured in my new book High Fiber Keto and obviously the artichoke is the star of the show due to its very high fiber content and numerous other health benefits. But beyond fiber and nutrients, it also has a wonderfully light and nutty flavor with a uniquely textured smoothness. It is certainly easier to taste than to describe! But that’s only the tip of the iceberg in this healthy keto smoothie; we also have on offer a variety of other delicious ingredients that just compliment and enhance the overall flavor. We have the smoothness of peanut butter with its wonderful flavor (remember to stick to the organic variety!), along with the decadent and rich heavy cream or full fat coconut milk, both keto diet regulars of course, and then we have the sweetness of chocolate grass-fed collagen protein to satisfy those healthy sweet tooth cravings, and finally vanilla MCT oil powder, just to top it all off. As you can see, this is about as flavorful a smoothie as they come and you being the master of the kitchen, are free to change up the quantities as your taste buds desire. We’ve got a lot going on here both in taste and in keto health benefits, with myriad good fats and, of course, good keto fiber! 100% flavor, 100% health, 0% guilt. That’s what it’s all about.
Blend, pour, drink, enjoy… and see you in the next video :)
Ingredients:
1 cup cold water
1/2 cup ice
100 grams (about 2/3 cup) chopped artichoke hearts
1/3 cup heavy cream (or full fat coconut milk)
1 scoop Simply GoodFats Chocolate Grass-Fed Collagen Protein naomiwhittel.com/product/collagen-protein-powder-chocolate scoop Simply GoodFats Vanilla MCT Oil Powder
naomiwhittel.com/product/ceramy-mct-oil-powdered-from-coconuts-for-ketodiet-and-ketosis-unflavored
3 tablespoons organic peanut butter
1 tablespoon chia seeds
*Note that the Simply GoodFats Chocolate Grass Fed Collagen Protein contains both powdered MCT oil and monk fruit sweetener. If you substitute a different collagen protein, you may want to increase your MCT oil and add a pinch of monk fruit.
Directions: Place all ingredients in a high speed blender and blend until smooth. Enjoy immediately!

Interview with Yoshinori Ohsumi: youtube.com/watch?v=2O_r-d-HrjA
There is More to Keto Than we Know…
I’ve always been very outspoken about how much I love to share information. Sharing is caring, as I’ve always put it, and various social media platforms and specifically YouTube and the videos I put out there for the world to see, are all about dispensing information that I’ve learned by going off the beaten path in countries around the world where I’ve been exposed to fascinating traditions, and often mind-blowing information. This has been further compounded by scientific information amassed in labs by some truly exceptional individuals in their respective fields who have dedicated their lives in some cases, to the study of subjects that are literally life-changing. Quite simply, I feel like an ambassador to bridge the gap between cultural, age-old findings, and modern, cutting edge scientific studies, and have made it my mission to share and spread this globally, and will continue doing so.
Nothing was quite as empowering as writing my first book, Glow15. It became a New York Times Bestseller and inspired me to be at the forefront of knowledge when it came to subjects like keto for example, something that has had a profound and life changing effect on me personally and my family, and has motivated me to dig deeper and go further, all the while with your health and wellbeing at the center of this journey. Keto, for me, began and a dietary change and through study and experience and exploration, I have come to understand that there is more to this word than meets the eye.
My second book, High Fiber Keto, which has just been released is another strong example of this, and in this video I talk about what makes High Fiber Keto unique in the wide world of keto-related books and more importantly, why you need to read and apply the information within, because, as the title states, there IS more to keto than we know. As a subscriber you’ll know that most of my content on this channel over the last couple of months has focused on keto and high fiber. Not only does it come from some of the greatest minds I have had the privilege to talk to, but also in an effort to ascertain real world examples of what I wrote about, I’ve also had to get my hands dirty, and my feet wet. Only so much can be derived in a lab and sometimes we have to step out of our comfort zones and into the world to see the science at work.
It has all been an absolute pleasure, and seeing the effects it's had on many of you and hearing and reading those testimonials is what makes all of this worthwhile. If you are a subscriber already you’ll know my history and will have seen many videos in which I share my findings in every way that I can; video blogs in different parts of the world, new information, interviews, recipes, excerpts from my docuseries “The Real Skinny on Fat”, and so much more. If you’re not a subscriber and want to also see these videos and upcoming content, consider clicking that button now. It only takes a second to click yet what you might learn could last a lifetime. I certainly know that was the case for me.
Thanks as always for watching :)

Who doesn’t like a good old fashioned PB&J in a blender? Well, probably no one in their right mind, but it’s the first step to create these delicious fat bombs, and I know you’re a smart bunch and not actually assuming this is anything other than a healthy keto alternative :). PB&J’s are good. Very good. And what we all seem to love about them is that most of us have been eating them since childhood; it’s a nostalgic comfort food that’s as tasty as it is quick to assemble. When on the move (or lazy) we just slap it together in 20 seconds and off we go. Well, today’s recipe is really aimed at following that tradition of keeping it simple, keeping it quick, keeping it keto (of course!), enjoying the taste, and all the while turning the concept of the beloved PB&J sandwich on its head and making it into a fat bomb that you and your family can enjoy anytime, and a super-healthy-keto one at that. Who says we can’t still be decadent or creative on keto? It just requires a little fun and imagination.
Now, I must admit, at first glance you’d be forgiven for wondering how we can take a comfort food sandwich that is about as un-keto as you can get (bread, sugar) and turn that into a fat bomb. It sounds crazy, I know. But that’s where we start having fun with ingredients and get creative. After all, a real PB&J really IS a fat bomb, and not the good kind of fat bomb; the carb and sugar laden bad-fat-knock-you-out-of-ketosis-kind. This isn’t the first example of that concept on this channel, and I’ll post some links below to some other decadent foods we’ve had fun “converting” into keto superfoods. Please be sure to explore those as we have some delicious options and alternatives to some very popular foods that, let’s face it, no one wants to give up. And the best part is… you don’t have to.
Back to peanut butter and jelly... I’ll let the video do the talking and explain this concept in detail but let’s just take a quick look at what we’re working with here…
The main ingredients that we are going to substitute are obviously healthy roasted peanuts and fresh AND freeze-dried strawberries. On top of that we’ve got some collagen, some MCT oil, and coconut oil, making this a very satiating and delicious keto snack (or meal, depending on your appetite and how many fat bombs you wish to make).
The full recipe and directions are posted below, and of course don’t hesitate to ask questions or make suggestions in the comments. I’d love to know what you think of this and even suggestions for recipes you’d like to see us make in the future. This channel and these videos are all for you, so it’s very important to read your suggestions and to know what you’d like to see in future posts.
Don’t forget to click subscribe if you want to see more of this or other health and wellness related content and of course, be sure to click that little notification bell so you get instant alerts and never miss out on future posts. We have many, many videos on this channel for you to check out.
Enjoy! :)
Full Recipe Below!
PB&J FAT BOMBS
Makes 4 Servings / Prep time:10 minutes / Set time: 1-2 hours
1/4 cup dry-roasted, salted peanuts
1 tbsp coconut oil
1 tbsp whole-food MCT oil naomiwhittel.com/product/simply-goodfats-coco-booster-organic-mct-oil
3 tbsp fresh strawberries (2-3 medium strawberries)
2 tbsp crushed, freeze-dried strawberries, plus more for dusting
1 teaspoon collagen powder naomiwhittel.com/product/glow15-collagen-peptide-powder-buy-2-get-1-free
1/2 teaspoon monk fruit extract
1/8 teaspoon sea salt
Combine all the ingredients in a high speed blender or food processor and process on high until completely smooth. Pour into mini-muffin pan, using about 1 tablespoon per muffin cup. Sprinkle crushed, freeze dried strawberries on top. Refrigerate until firm, about 1 to 2 hours. Store in a covered container in the refrigerator for up to 1 week. Best enjoyed cold since fat bombs soften at room temperature.

Why Am I Not Losing Weight on Keto? 3 Reasons You May Not be Losing Weight.
We’ve delved into some common questions on the subject of keto already in earlier videos but keto and weight loss, (or lack thereof), is a big one, and if you’re asking the question of why am I not losing weight on keto, it means you are already trying and perhaps in the thick of it, and also potentially doing something wrong. If this is you, it’s ok, we’ve all been there and it’s simply part of the learning process. So this video my dear viewers is designed to help you correct that before you fall too short and to outline 3 simple reason you are not losing weight on keto, and why.
As with many dietary and lifestyle changes, keto of course being no exception, there’s a lot of information to take in and a learning curve is an inevitability. Of course this can mean frustration along the way and there is nothing worse than undertaking a lifestyle change, be it diet or otherwise, only to see, or not see, results. I’ve found keto to be relatively simple, that’s not to say I’ve experienced my own keto curveballs, it would be quite a rare feat to not have the occasional set back and of course this is why I do what I do and why these videos are made. Sharing is caring and as a community we can all learn from each other. Weight loss in ketosis is no joke and the struggle to live a healthier and more fulfilling life is one we all face at one time or another. But do not be disheartened for these set backs can be short lived, we only need recognize where we are going off track and implement the necessary changes.
I hope this video provides some of these changes for you, education is key, and I hope you continue on your keto journey, practice patience where needed, whether for weight loss, overall physical and mental health, and simply a better you.
Thanks as always for watching and as always be sure to share your thoughts, feedback, and ideas below, or ask any questions. Don’t forget to click subscribe if you want to see more of this or other health and wellness related content and of course, we have many, many videos on this channel for you to check out.

Simple Keto Salmon Salad Recipe
The following video is one of the recipes from my latest book, High Fiber Keto. As you’ve seen we’ve been all about keto and fiber here on this channel and with good reason, as you’ll learn in the book. High Fiber Keto has some groundbreaking info and great recipes you're going to love, and we have some recipes featured in the book focusing on the high fiber aspect that are going to become videos here on this channel. This simple Keto Salmon Salad recipe is one that I love, not only for its obvious health benefits but for its simplicity. This is a recipe that you can put together in ten minutes or less. The ingredients are simple and it just requires some mixing, some salad, and voila, an easy and quick keto meal. As with all the keto recipes I feature, both in the book and on this channel, you don’t have to be meticulous with the directions or amounts. The most important thing is focusing on the right ingredients and then feel free to get creative. That's the beauty of the ketogenic lifestyle, making it your own and not feeling too restricted. Add more of an ingredient you like and less of another if you feel so inclined. The most important thing is to make sure you’re getting the important healthy fats and fiber and the health benefits that come with them. As you’ll see in this video, I add turmeric to my mixture and some curcumin, which turbo charge the health benefits of this recipe, but if those aren’t your cup of tea then by all means leave them out.
If you have questions, comments or even suggestions, I’d love to hear them, so please feel free to post away in the comments section. Hit subscribe and notify if you like this kind of content and want to see more. We’ve got videos on a wide variety of topics on this channel, and please be sure to go back and check out other recipes or videos if you are new. And of course if you enjoy the video and more importantly, the recipe, give us a like and let us know.
Happy eating, and to your health!

Does keto seem to make sense in theory yet somehow fail to work as promised? But what if it’s not just you? What if keto as we know it merely fails to encompass the needs of the female body?
Naomi Whittel, the New York Times best-selling author of Glow15, explores how the problem isn’t keto, it’s fiber.
The ketogenic diet is in its glory as one of today’s most popular ways to lose weight, burn fat and cut brain fog. Despite the proven benefits of rapid weight loss and skyrocketing energy, most people give up before seeing any sustainable transformation. Women are especially vulnerable to keto’s extreme restrictions on fiber.
90% of women are living with fiber deficiencies; a high fiber nutritional plan is essential to maximize the benefits of keto.
Naomi Whittel breaks down keto simply step by step, offering real-life easy solutions for maximizing the benefits of a ketogenic diet without deprivation or the dreaded ‘keto flu.’
- transform your metabolism
- enhance your microbiome
- balance your hormones, and
- keep you satiated
By combining the best high-fiber foods with the ketogenic diet, the High Fiber Keto plan makes it possible to untap a hidden source of energy that helps optimize your metabolism, burn fat, beautify your skin and balance your hormones and gut… in only 22 days!

High Fiber Keto is a lifelong approach to losing and keeping off unnecessary and toxic fat while developing your healthiest and most vibrant version of you. Here’s what you can expect in these first 22 days:
Body fat mass loss: Up to 9.25 pounds
Trimming of your waistline: Lose up to 4 inches
Rapid weight loss: Lose up to 7 pounds
Increased energy: More alertness and focus during the day

The clinical study:
A research study was conducted at Jacksonville University with 22 women ranging in age from 25 to 60 years old to test the efficacy of the High Fiber Keto diet. After just three weeks, the study revealed astonishing results.
Before and after the study, researchers measured weight, BMI, waist circumference, waist-to-hip ratio, body composition, blood pressure, circulating markers of metabolic and cardiovascular health, and self-reported mood, anxiety, stress, happiness, and food cravings.

Foods to Avoid on Keto
One of the hardest things we have to face when beginning keto, or any new “diet” (although I consider keto a lifestyle rather than a diet) is understanding what we can and can not eat. Understanding what foods to avoid on keto can make all the difference. Changing our eating habits naturally takes us out of our comfort zone, and educating ourselves and understanding what we can and can’t eat is paramount to seeing the desired results. And while this may seem like a simple question, there are in fact many things to consider, especially in keto. Do keep in mind, however, that there are foods that are going to be strictly off the table, foods that have limitations, and foods that have wonderful keto-friendly alternatives. This video will take a look at what you should avoid and also what you can enjoy in moderation.
We have covered the topic of why keto or the keto lifestyle does not mean having to sacrifice the things we enjoy, in fact, it’s been the subject of so many of the videos and video recipes I’ve posted on my channel, and I can’t emphasize that point enough. First of all, it is one of the most common reasons people burn out or simply give up while trying to diet. It’s not about eating things that taste bland and are uninspired, or just plain bad. It should never be about that. Changing the way you eat and your lifestyle should not dictate how you feel and make you frustrated. That is one of the many things that I love about living a ketogenic lifestyle. I struggled with cravings in the past, particularly sugar, yet switching to keto, and opting for good fats, eliminated the cravings altogether and introduced me to a new way of eating where healthy food suddenly became delicious and avoiding snacks or decadent sweets or comfort foods became a thing of the past. It’s for that very reason that I’m inspired today to share this with people and to let you know that there are indeed plenty of options and alternatives, and you should not suffer needlessly. Losing weight and improving the quality of life doesn’t have to come at a price, it is simply the way we were built and we are only going back to basics. So don’t feel guilt, feel happy and healthy and enjoy yourself. You deserve it.

How Many Carbs Can You Eat on Keto?
To eat or not to eat, that is the question. Actually, "how many carbs on keto?" is one of the most Googled questions in the world relating to keto, and that shouldn’t come as any surprise. While there are plenty of delicious alternatives for pretty much all the carb-loaded foods you may long for, many of which are featured in this channel in our many, many recipes, but the question remains: How many carbs can you eat on keto? Well, in this video I hope to give you some insight into what “true” keto and getting into nutritional ketosis allows in terms of your overall carb intake, as well as how often you should eat them. I also talk about what kind of carbs you should be eating, or at least which ones I like to eat personally, and which ones to avoid. Be careful not to dive into a whole pizza or bowl of pasta. Know your limits both in quality and quantity, and understand which other forms of carbs you can eat, in far healthier foods.
I hope this video answers some of your questions and concerns about the “carb/keto” debate! At least If this is helpful to you be sure to leave a like and by all means share some of your favorite types of carbs and even recipes. I always love getting your feedback and sharing information with one another, and if you enjoy this content and like my other videos by all means consider subscribing and clicking on the notification bell to get instant real time alerts as and when we post.

Keto Coffee
I have found when going keto, there are a lot of foods and drinks that we are able to cut down on or give up entirely, and few of them seem to be a big issue in my experience. People typically see and feel physically and mental results, and that strengthens their resolve to keep going and keep avoiding the things that we shouldn’t be consuming; the carbs, the processed foods, sugars, bad oils, and a host of others that can derail you out of ketosis very quickly. However, the two that I seem to be asked about most frequently are coffee and sweeteners. That’s right, people take their morning brews very seriously. This video is going to address that dreaded concern over our precious cup of java first thing in the morning, and let me just cut the suspense: coffee is perfectly fine — done correctly. That is to say, black coffee, fine. Coffee with healthy fats in the form of MCT, butter, heavy cream, and milk — even better. Any of the above with sweeteners? Not ideal but still ok. Just as long as you eat the RIGHT ones. That can’t be stressed enough. But fear not, coffee is a friend to us keto lovers, and it is also beneficial part of the keto “diet”, and we don’t have to give up our morning boost, thank goodness, we just need to tweak it slightly, but trust me, it’ll taste better for it. In this video I’m simply going to talk a little about different kinds of keto-friendly options you might enjoy, like bulletproof coffee, and lots of variations and alternatives that will benefit your ketogenic lifestyle.
I’ve said it a thousand times, but facts are facts, and when you decide to go keto you do need to avoid associating keto with making sacrifices and with giving up the things you love. Why? Because there are alternatives that taste just as good if not better, and as your health improves, your tastebuds and body notice the difference, so there is no sacrifice. Keto isn’t a “diet” in the worst sense of the word, it’s a lifestyle. This is how our ancestors ate and this way of life is fully backed by science and results, to which so many of us can attest.
This video is really aimed at those who are new to keto, but I think it’s good for all of us to be reminded, no matter how long we’ve been living the keto life. So sit back and I hope that you enjoy this little look at what kind of coffees you should and shouldn’t drink, and I encourage you to share your own favorite keto coffee ideas and recipes in the comments.
If you like, click the thumbs up and if you really like, go ahead and click subscribe. And be sure to go back and check out some of my keto coffee recipes on this channel.
Thanks for watching and happy brewing :)

Through the plan, you will learn about:
✓ The one ratio that reveals much more than the number on the scale
✓ The most efficient and effective form of fuel that will burn your own body fat
✓ New and delicious fiber-rich foods that will change the way your body looks and feels
✓ Pure, clean nutritional ingredients from around the world to help improve your body inside and out
✓ The most efficient and effective ways to move your body to ignite your metabolism
Increased energy: More alertness and focus during the day
Beautiful, glowing skin: Improvements in your skin firmness and skin tone
Exceptional health: Improved health and well-being, more energy, better mood, and reduced stress
More strength: The development of lean muscle, as well as another kind of strength — a boost of confidence
Blood pressure: Improved blood pressure from systolic and/or diastolic numbers
The clinical study:
A research study was conducted at Jacksonville University with 22 women ranging in age from 25 to 60 years old to test the efficacy of the High Fiber Keto diet. After just three weeks, the study revealed astonishing results.
Before and after the study, researchers measured weight, BMI, waist circumference, waist-to-hip ratio, body composition, blood pressure, circulating markers of metabolic and cardiovascular health, and self-reported mood, anxiety, stress, happiness, and food cravings.

Creamy Keto Blackberry Smoothie Recipe
Recipe:
Serves 4
1 Medium sized cucumber (ends removed)
1 Avocado
1 cup frozen blackberries
Up to 1/4 cup whole-food MCT oil (or coconut butter or oil)
2 scoops of fiber powder
1 cup heavy cream
2 cups water
1 cup ice cubes
4 servings collagen powder (optional)
*Please ingredients in blender, and blend on high until well mixed, about 30 seconds.
Time for another keto smoothie recipe to add to our long list of keto and healthy fat-inspired recipes! This is one of my new favorites inspired by my new book High Fiber Keto as it is not only a combination of wonderful creamy ingredients like avocado and heavy cream (feel free to substitute coconut cream if you’re not a fan of dairy), that are both satiating and healthy forms of fat and fiber, and not forgetting MCT with its myriad health benefits, but it also has some other additions that make it quite unique. As the name suggests, this is a creamy keto smoothie recipe, one that is at once refreshing and delicious and yet creamy and decadent, but this smoothie’s also full of other nutrients in the form of structured water. Cucumber, for example, while not commonly associated with smoothies, is a wonderful addition both with its refreshing taste contrasted against the creaminess and sweet tartness of blackberries, and is also an easy to find source of structured water which we talked about in detail in the last keto video post, “How to Avoid Keto Flu”, which if you haven’t seen I definitely encourage you to check out. Structured water or gel water will really hydrate you at a cellular level which is key when doing the keto diet. Add to the mix some tangy and sweet blackberries (organic if you can find them), and you have yourself a one of a kind, delicious smoothie. The amount of nutrients contained in this little refreshing concoction is mind-blowing and you can only imagine what it’s going to do to your body and health. As it that were not enough, I love the added convenience of being able to throw things in a blender and go. Whether you’re on the move or enjoying at home, eating as a snack or replacing a meal, this works on all levels and is a great addition to your keto lifestyle.
This particular recipe is from my book High Fiber Keto (link for pre-order above) and represents what I love about healthy eating with a little twist, of course. It’s so SIMPLE and doesn’t have to be complicated or time consuming. That’s a total misconception. Be on the lookout for more high fiber recipes coming soon!
So, gather the following ingredients, drop them in a blender, drink, enjoy, repeat. And, as with all healthy recipes on this channel, the idea is to make something that tastes good and is also good FOR you, something that sounds like an oxymoron, but it’s true; the best things for you often taste great. We’ve just been led to believe that so called “health food” is synonymous with tasting bad and that couldn’t be further from the truth. Just go back and see my other recipes and you’ll understand. Eat, drink, and be merry and well my friends. I’d love to hear your thoughts and suggestions and even learn about your own ways of boosting your health. By all means post it all below, I love to get feedback and read all your comments.
Be sure to check out other videos while you’re here and remember all video recipes are also on my website at www.naomiwhittel.com
Of course, I always include the ingredients and instructions in the descriptions of each video so if you miss anything, it’s all there in writing for reference.

As you may know if you’re a subscriber to this channel, or have been following recent videos that I’ve posted, we are on a keto roll right now with the release of my latest book “High Fiber Keto” just around the corner. I feel it’s important to focus on all areas of the keto lifestyle, whether that means going back to keto basics as we did in the last video, talking about the effect of the keto diet on the brain, discussing the kinds of foods that you should and shouldn’t eat and even simply hearing powerful testimonials. We have certainly covered a lot of ground when it comes to the keto way of life, but in the following video, I want to look at another side of keto that we don’t talk about too much, and that is the “keto flu”.
So, what is the "keto flu"?
The "keto flu", or “carb flu” as it is also known, is a series of symptoms sometimes experienced as side effects of adjusting your mind and body to the keto diet, or rather, eating fewer carbs, and replacing sugar with healthy fats. These symptoms can range from mild headaches, often caused by dehydration as a result of lowering your carb intake, fatigue, and other mildly unpleasant symptoms that are usually short-lived but nonetheless uncomfortable as you undergo these dietary changes and undo all the bad habits we’ve formed throughout our lives.
Reducing your carb intake forces your body to burn ketones for energy instead of glucose, and ketones are byproducts of fat breakdown and become the main fuel source when following a ketogenic diet.
Other symptoms of keto flu can include poor concentration, dizziness, difficulty sleeping and the dreaded sugar cravings.
But fear not dear friends, none of this is a guaranteed part of adjusting to the keto lifestyle and by following the simple tips in this video you can actually prevent some of the most common keto flu signs before they even raise their heads.
As always thank you for watching and be sure to ask any questions you may have in the comments section below. I love to hear about others’ experiences with keto and your testimonials, and of course this channel is dedicated to sharing as much information with you, the viewer, as possible, so if you have questions or need help or advice, please ask away. I love your comments and I love to be able to assist in your keto journey.

With the release of my new book, High Fiber Keto just around the corner (February 25th!) my passion for the keto lifestyle has been reignited. You may have noticed we are devoting a lot of time on this channel to themes related to metabolism and the keto diet and many keto-related subjects that are featured prominently in the new book... and we’re not stopping here. Keto has always been a big part of this channel and an even bigger part of my life, so expect to see much, much more in upcoming videos.
In the following video blog I decided to go back to basics. Now don’t be mistaken, that is not to say this video is directed at audiences who know very little, to nothing, about keto. Although if that is you, this video will hopefully answer a lot of your questions and get you started on your own journey. But I also feel that those of us who are more experienced in keto, regardless of your level, can always benefit from going back to basics and reminding ourselves of the fundamentals of this way of life, as over time it’s very easy to forget certain things, and people often plateau or simply don't see the results they should as a result of unknowingly making small mistakes and not experiencing the full wealth of benefits the keto lifestyle has to offer.
As always, thank you for watching, and be sure to ask any questions you may have in the comments section below. I love to hear about others’ experiences with keto and your testimonials, and of course this channel is dedicated to sharing as much information with you the viewer, as possible, so if you have questions or need help or advice, please ask away. I love your comments and I love to be able to assist in your keto journey in any way that I can.
Please be sure to subscribe if you like this content and be sure to go back and take a look at the vast collection of videos we have on keto, including recipes, informational and educational videos and so much more. With the release of High Fiber Keto we also have a lot of very exciting and informative videos coming up that you do not want to miss. The following video blog offers 3 simple tips on improving your metabolism. There are so many conflicting ideas on what metabolism means and how it affects us and I want to use this video to help you uncover where you are metabolically as a lot of my latest book High Fiber Keto is concerned with this topic. This video looks at 3 very simple and effective ways you can actually improve your metabolism and get it to where it should be. I have another video on the basics of your metabolism and how to understand it, but this video is focused on how you can identify where it is and how you can keep it at its optimum level. This is one of a few videos I’ll be posting over the next few weeks on the subject of metabolism as I feel it’s often overlooked and why I felt it was important to explore it in more detail in my book. These are just the basics but the book goes into much more detail. If you haven’t ordered your copy yet, you don’t want to miss this one, click the following link to pre-order it before its release date of February 25th, 2020.

To learn more about the benefits of fasting, check out my blog! naomiwhittel.com/intermittent-fasting-and-weight-loss/?utm_source=YouTube&utm_medium=Social&utm_campaign=June%2025&utm_content=Why%20You%20Should%20be%20Fasting
Those of you interested in health and wellness have most likely heard the name Jason Fung, and if you haven't yet, you will. Dr. Jason Fung is a world-leading expert in intermittent fasting, and, also a friend, so I was thrilled that he was willing to chat briefly on the subject with me, and on camera, no less, so I could share it. This is just a very brief overview but there is so much more we will be discussing in upcoming videos (subscribe!) so stay tuned.
The idea of fasting is almost becoming a trend these days. We hear about it everywhere; intermittent fasts, 1 day, 2-day, even 5-day water fasts are quickly becoming part of our “healthy living” jargon. Yet, the idea is far from new. It dates back to our remote ancestors, and hunters and gatherers, and historically it has been linked with different cultures, and religious practices and rituals. Why? Did they know someone we don’t?
Studies have proven that to be quite possible and have shown us that abstinence from all food and drink except water and a few other exceptions, has incredible healing powers. In fact Japan’s Dr. Ohsumi’s research into the benefits of autophagy won him the Nobel Prize in 2016. I was fortunate to have been granted the rare opportunity to interview and chat with Dr. Ohsumi in his laboratory in Tokyo. (You can find the video here on my channel)
In an age and country where food is so accessible to us, and three meals a day (sometimes more!) is the norm for many of us, the idea of going without food for prolonged periods of time is something that some people can’t even think about, let alone attempt. Yet the health benefits are truly astounding.
In this video I want to give you a breakdown on what fasting can do for you. It’s much more than a trend and the benefits you can experience range from incredible mental alertness, and overall feelings of well-being, (even reducing feelings of depression and anxiety!), to weight loss, increased energy, increased muscle tone and improved immune health. The list is endless.
As someone who has experienced the amazing effects of fasting for the last 25 years, be it intermittent, or up to 5-day water fasts, I have experienced these benefits first hand and improved my health considerably.
In this video, I want to give you brief overview of just what fasting can do, in the words of the true authority on the subject. We’ll have many more videos coming up, educating you on the correct ways of attempting a fast and how to prepare for one.
I encourage you to take care and be wise. Fasting is not for everyone, and different people benefit from different types, so please be sure to subscribe and watch our upcoming videos (as well as my other videos here on my channel) where we’ll be giving you all the necessary information.
Thanks so much for watching, and please be sure to ask questions and leave comments, we love to hear from you!
To your health, happiness, and a better life. :)

We're back with another installment of the Keto interview highlights from my docuseries, "The Real Skinny on Fat" in which I interviewed so many experts in the health and wellness industry. In this video I talk to ex-bodybuilder and fitness enthusiast Dori Madsen on her keto journey and how it has impacted her life. Interestingly, she talks about her love of keto for not only helping her to maintain a great body at the age of 54, but also how it's had an anti aging effect on her body and kept her metabolism fast. As a longtime personal trainer, yoga, Pilates and bootcamp instructor, she states in the video, she not only eats more now than she did in her 20's but can still compete and out-perform women half her age. She also talks about the physical benefits of the keto lifestyle, and how as she gets older she has no joint pain or body aches compared to when she eats a high carb diet. I've seen in comments on previous videos that this has been the case for many of you.
This was a really interesting interview as it dealt with a topic that hadn't been discussed too much in other interviews but one that is absolutely accurate and one that everyone should be aware of. The keto diet is endlessly fascinating and the benefits of eating healthy fats and a low carb diet go far beyond mere weight loss.
Thanks as always for watching, we are on a keto roll as promised as we begin 2020 and expect many videos on the subject. In the lead up to the release of my new book High Fiber Keto, I want to educate and share as much keto-based info that I possibly can on this platform, and I hope this benefits you as much as it did me.
Be sure to subscribe, like, share and of course click on the little bell to be notified as and when we put out new videos, 3 times per week.
To you health and happiness :)

We've been talking a lot about my new book recently and I wanted to share with you in this video 3 of my favorite keto books that have really inspired me. Not only for their great content but also the people behind them, the authors, two of whom I am proud to call friends and featured in my docuseries "The Real Skinny on Fat".
We live in a very hectic world, full of distractions, responsibilities and gadgets and for me finding time to get away from it all and relax with a good book is a real delight, and over the years I have devoured many books on all things keto, constantly keeping myself up to date and informed with new and insightful information. Out of all of these books there are 3 that stand out. Now don't get me wrong, I have read many good books on the ketogenic lifestyle and narrowing my three recommendations for this video wasn't easy but the following books are the ones that I feel have had the biggest effect on me throughout my keto journey and have helped me in a number of different ways, and not only that, but they also inspired me to write my own book, Glow15, which went on to become a New York Times bestseller. Now that I'm on the cusp of releasing my second book I wanted to pause to reflect on how much I've been inspired by certain individuals and their work and this video is a thank you to them.
So click play, sit back, and I hope you enjoy this video and be sure to post your own recommendations below, let us know which books affected you and helped you on your personal journey. We're all in this together so let's share and help each other along the way as we move towards a healthier and happier future.
Thanks for watching as always and don't forget to subscribe if you want to see more. :)

Of all the many, many interviews we conducted as part of my docuseries "The Real Skinny on Fat", I have never been so moved as I was listening to Montel Williams. I interviewed many very high profile individuals and many experts in their respective fields on information as it related to keto, all of whom I am very grateful to for having imparted some incredible advice and knowledge, based on years of research and study. It was the basis and objective of the docuseries to shed as much light as possible on the benefits of the keto lifestyle -- as many of you know who have seen the series -- and to spread as much knowledge and information as possible. Such is the objective of the "The Real Skinny on Fat", and this very YouTube channel.
It's all about sharing and caring within the health and wellness community and in this interview with Montel Williams we really get to see something powerful and moving. Not only do we get to hear the emotional story of his past health issues and how he managed to cope with some very difficult times, but we get to hear an inspiring story and the happy ending and it is, as the title states, a powerful and emotional testimony.
I have been a strong advocate for the ketogenic lifestyle for years now and have experienced its benefits and healing capabilities in my personal life, from the life threatening experiences my son endured and was later cured of, to my own personal experiences, so listening to Montel was a very emotional experience to say the least.
Not only does he talk about how he overcame some tough obstacles in his life through eating properly and as he puts it "eating keto before it was even called keto", he also shares his frustrations and experiences being given misinformed information from doctors, how he refused to accept statements and instructions that could have caused him far worse long term problems and his passionate description of what we need to be focusing on in our quest for health and happiness. His words are stirring and strong and I could not be more grateful for his time and openness in not only participating in my series, but as my friend I am grateful for his sharing of such an inspiring story and I hope it helps you and reminds you of what is so important, as it did for me.
Be sure to watch our other interview highlights from the series which can be found on this channel.
Thank you for watching, and to your own health and happiness.

Do supplements really work - this is the subject we are going to tackle today with another installments from my "The Real Skinny on Fat" docuseries. So many of us take our daily pills, powders, and such, without actually stopping to ask ourselves what should we be looking for when we buy them, and we rarely ask ourselves do they really work.
We're back with another highlight interview video, this time with Shawn Wells. Shawn has been dubbed “The World’s Greatest Formulator”, Biohacktivist, and Keto Authority.
Having faced and overcome significant obstacles with his own health—weight issues, depression, autoimmune conditions (Epstein-Barr, Fibromyalgia, and Chronic Fatigue Syndrome), two cervical discs replacements, and a pituitary adenoma, a type of brain tumor. They say everything happens for a reason, and in Shawn’s case, his health problems led him down a winding path that required him to find science-based solutions, and they sparked his personal passion for biohacking.
Shawn's depth of knowledge is incredibly insightful and the questions he asks are so important to all of us. So many of us use supplements, but just as we choose our food carefully and look at the ingredients, so should we with any supplements we put in our bodies, and it's with this kind of insight and research that we can take the subject more seriously.

“Imagine if you’re diagnosed with something very serious and life threatening and your doctor suddenly said to you “well if you just changed your diet” It’s something they can proactively do, instead of going to get an IV infusion of a drug or something that makes you feel sick, and terrible, you switch your diet to something that’s flavorful and you’re proactively doing something every day, every time you eat you say: “I’m beating this, I’m fighting”…and that’s empowerment. And it really is something that the patients are gravitating towards and holding onto, and it gives the patient hope. Not false hope, but a very real hope.”
In the following video I sat down with Dr. Kris Smith, a neurosurgeon at the Neurological Institute of Arizona. In this interview, highlights from part of my “Real Skinny on Fat” docuseries, I talk to Dr. Smith about the effect of keto on the human brain. His vast insight on the subject was utterly fascinating and proves to me that keto is more than what so many assume is just a fad diet, and that the effect of keto on the brain is an example of just how powerful the ketogenic lifestyle really is. When most of us think of keto our minds naturally jump to weight loss and eating healthy fats, both of which are true, but how profound keto truly is and the extent of this lifestyle change and what it can do for us is on full display in this interview. For a renown neurosurgeon to treat his patients with sometimes terminal conditions by implementing a diet change and seeing the effect keto has on the brain is absolutely incredible. Over the many years I studied and practiced the keto lifestyle I have been witness to some amazing things and that includes personal experience with how it affects the brain as I experienced and treated my own son’s seizures through diet change and a keto lifestyle and hearing it from Dr. Smith just reminded me of how powerful this really is. I hope it inspires you as it did me.

Thierry is a 7th generation vintner in the Sassignac region of France, near Bordeaux, where he and his wife, own and operate the Chateau Le Payral vineyard and produce somewhere in the region of 90,000 bottles per year of red and white wines. It’s safe to say that this guy knows his grapes. Well, that’s the very subject of this video, and how I ended up here many, many years ago after a long search for the right source. But Thierry’s knowledge, and what I’ve learned from him does not end there. That is only where the story begins.
Thierry is a biodynamic winemaker. What does that mean exactly? Well we’ll delve further into that in the next video but the short answer is that he uses farming techniques based on the work of Rudolph Steiner which essentially involves organic farming practices, zero fertilizer or pesticides, but also goes a step further into such things as astronomical configurations for planting times and so much more, it is a topic that requires a lot of time and I will certainly go into more depth in the next video. So for the time being that should suffice as an explanation for biodynamic farming.
Next is sulfite-free wines, another feature unique to Thierry’s technique and wines. What are sulfites are why should they not be in our wines? Well, I’m glad you asked. Headaches and hangovers are one reason, but sulfites are basically compounds that are chemical byproducts of the fermentation process and they are not good, we don’t want them. Let’s just put it that way for now until we get to further videos in which I will expound on in upcoming content. So basically sulfite-free wine is much better for us. We’ll leave it there for the time being.
Last, but certainly not least, is the “terroir", a French term meaning the soil or earth, which is also going to be touched on in the next video post, but to give you an idea, it relates to the seeds of the grapes, the “leftovers”, so to speak, in the winemaking process, but related to the little jewels that we also know as grapeseed. More on that later, though.
The intended takeaway from this particular video is not only hearing from the man himself on unique approaches to his farming and winemaking methods, but above all, the importance of the skin of the grape, wherein resveratrol can be found. And resveratrol is, as you may know if you are subscribed to this channel — and if you’re not, I would encourage you to subscribe or to go back through our video list and view the many videos related to the subject of resveratrol — is truly fascinating, and my research and video posts will not end here. I have created many products utilizing the ingredients from this very vineyard to harness the magic of resveratrol and it is a subject of endless curiosity and countless possibilities.
To view other videos and introductions to resveratrol, be sure to click the links at the end of this video and if you’re interested in seeing the products I have created with some of the finest sources and alongside the best researchers, be sure to check out the products section of my website… www.naomiwhittel.com

Dr. Shade has spent his career devoted to the study of detoxification and in this video he talks specifically about mercury poisoning and heavy metals and how our bodies respond to other toxins, and how we process them. It is a fascinating and eye-opening interview and one that everybody should watch, especially in this age that we live in where we are, sometimes completely unknowingly, surrounded by toxins. Whether in the air we breathe, in our soil, in our food, water, even transmitted through our cell phones, wifi and computers, at work, at home and pretty much everywhere we go.
Born in a toxic steel town, Dr. Shade created Quicksilver Scientific to combat the environmental toxicity he personally experienced. He patented a mercury speciation diagnostic process to analyze human toxicity.
For more than a decade, Dr. Shade has worked alongside practitioners to fine-tune a system and its applications to restore, maintain, and advance health. Dr. Shade is regularly sought out to speak as an educator on the topics of mercury, environmental toxicities, neuroinflammation, immune dysregulation, and the human detoxification system for practitioners and patients in the United States and internationally. He has helped corporate executives, professional athletes, celebrities, children with autism, patients with chronic immune disorders and more. He strives to evolve the way the medical industry delivers care, and he is perpetually broadening the way the world understands health.
I hope this video is useful to you and of course, please post questions if you have them. Consider subscribing and hitting the notify bell if you would like to see more of these kinds of videos and would like to be the first to receive alerts.
Thanks as always for watching, and to your health and happiness.

In the following video I will be showing you a quick and easy way to make a bedtime (or anytime) drink that is a powerhouse of nutrients, including of course, the miraculous turmeric. When I say this is a potent yet delicious drink that will benefit your health in so many ways, I am not exaggerating. This packs a serious superfood punch that is so easily ingested as it is also extremely tasty and a perfect cozy drink for those cold winter nights.
As you may or may not know, turmeric is beyond a superfood and has so many health benefits that it is unreal. The word superfood is very casually thrown around but with turmeric we’re talking about an actual super food, one that has been known for its profound health benefits for literally thousands of years. The proof is in the pudding as they say and as a wellness explorer it’s my job to pay attention to what other cultures have been consuming for so long and the reasons why. Well, turmeric is one of these and it has fascinated me to no end for the last 2 decades. I have many videos (listed below) on the subject and many more to come.
In the following video, I’m not going to focus entirely on the health benefits because I have other videos devoted exclusively to that, but rather, I want to offer a recipe that anyone can make, one that takes very little time and more importantly, one that incorporates other superfood ingredients such as creamy MCT, coconut milk, collagen, ghee, cacao, ginger and cinnamon.
If you’re interested in turmeric supplements visit my website at www.naomiwhittel.com and check out the supplements section. The following link is one of my bestsellers:

Other than being a delightful person to chat with, Brooke is extremely knowledgable on all things nutrition and for that reason I was very excited to have her involved in the series; her contribution and experience are invaluable.
Of course we could have talked for hours on many different topics but in this interview we decided to focus on primarily on sugars, insulin, carbs and the usual suspects. I wanted to focus on their relation to the ketogenic lifestyle, of which, as you know, I am a huge proponent. In fact, my fascination with keto, and healthy fats has had such a profound life-changing effect on me that it inspired me to write my first book, the New York Times bestseller "Glow 15" (amazon.com/Glow15-Science-Based-Weight-Revitalize-Invigorate/dp/1328897672/ref=sr_1_1?crid=3B9NC9M2FVGTG&keywords=glow+15+by+naomi+whittel&qid=1574359055&sprefix=glow+15%2Caps%2C156&sr=8-1) and I've now followed that up with another keto-related book "High Fiber Keto" which is set for release in February 2020, but available for pre-order now: amazon.com/High-Fiber-Keto-Science-Based-Metabolism/dp/1401958877/ref=redir_mobile_desktop?_encoding=UTF8&qid=&ref_=tmm_hrd_title_0&sr=
I hope you find these interview highlights educational as they deal with a very serious topic; the misconception that fats (the right fats) are NOT bad for you and how the government made us all terrified of fats when we should be anything but. They went so far as to create endless options of processed "fat free" or "low fat" options that then required extra sugar as flavor compensation. The irony is painful. As Brooke explains, sugars are not just found in the obvious foods, but some of the foods that we simply have no idea about and I'll let her and the video explain the rest.

Have you tried going keto and found that it has made you feel worse rather than better? Does keto seem to make sense in so many ways yet seem just slightly off in several key ones? What if it's not just you? What if traditional keto diet simply fails to encompass the needs of the female body?
After writing the New York Times best-selling book “Glow15” (amzn.to/2s1cbEn)
I wanted to explore how the problem isn't keto, it's fiber. Ninety percent of women are fiber deficient, and when women go the standard keto route, they often lean into animal-based, high-fat, zero-fiber foods, leading to low energy, brain fog, and unnecessary weight gain. In my latest book, I explore the prebiotic fiber sources that work within a keto framework to speed up your metabolism, transform your microbiome, balance your hormones, and keep you feeling full. Included are a 22-day meal plan, movement plan, and delicious, easy-to-make recipes.
In the following video, I was lucky enough to be in Malibu working on the promotion of my latest book, which will be released in February 2020, and wanted to take a few minutes to walk along the beautiful beach and record this quick vlog to give you some insight into what I’ve been working on. Body Weight Doesn’t Matter - Body Composition Misconceptions:
youtube.com/watch?v=iEyIFRbwq84
Are You Skinny Fat?
In the following video I’m back with the lovely Dr. Ara Jo, a researcher at the University of Florida. Dr. Jo and I have made a couple of videos together in the past, always in the beautiful gardens of the university campus.
Our previous talks (both of which can be found here in the description and also links will appear at the end of the video) cover some very interesting topics that really deserve our attention. In our last video together, we discussed the very important subject of “skinny fat” or “skinny obese” as it is also known. This may seem like an oxymoron, but this is in fact something that needs to be taken very seriously and fortunately individuals like Dr. Jo are devoting much of their time to truly understanding the causes, symptoms and obesity-related diseases that can occur as a result, and doing their best to shed as much light on the issue as possible. So I’m happy to be able to assist using my platform and to help with this serious cause.
What is particularly concerning about skinny obesity is that because it is not so obvious it can quite easily go completely under the radar, and that is where it can be especially dangerous, as no signs or red flags are noticeable and therefore no preventative measures can be taken, simply because the skinny fat individual who may have large amounts of fat surrounding their organs, relatively hidden from the outside, may seemingly have no cause for concern, and this is EXACTLY what makes it so serious. Chronic diseases absolutely can occur as a result of skinny fat, such as diabetes, heart disease, hypertension, hyperlipidemia, sleep apnea, and other cardiovascular diseases.
I hope this video helps you to understand this issue more clearly, and be sure to go back and watch my other videos with Dr. Jo. I’d like to acknowledge Dr. Jo efforts and send a huge thank you to her for taking the time to share her studies and research with me.
Be sure to post your questions and comments, and if you want to learn more about this we will certainly devote more screen time on this channel to this serious subject in the future, so don’t forget to subscribe and click on the notification bell.
Thank you for clicking play, stay healthy and happy, and see you in the next video. :)

Have you ever wondered what food your brain really needs? Do you want to learn how you can reduce cognitive decline by up to 50%? Then click the play button…
We’re back in France and in the following video you’re going to see a conversation between myself and David Gaudout from the company ActivInside which has its headquarters in the Bordeaux region and is doing great work worldwide with some of the world’s best researchers when it comes to nutritional and health related studies.
I had a very enlightening experience touring the offices and laboratories and listening in wonder about the ground-breaking research they’re doing into cognitive decline prevention, bioavailability, essential polyphenols, “brain berries” and so much more.
You would be forgiven for mistaking the title of the video as something psychological but in fact the mind diet is, as Mr. Gaudout explains, exactly that… a nutritional diet for your mind. We typically associate the word diet with weight loss or improvements in physical health but through their tireless research in this field the people at ActivInside have made some remarkable discoveries that you will hear all about. As David says, the Mind Diet began with a personal story involving his grandmother that set him on the path to understand how certain foods, molecules and certain compounds can have an incredible and significant effect on not only brain function, but the very way we think and feel.
I hope you find this video informative and we welcome any questions and or comments. If you have any experience I’d love to hear your stories, so share away.
Don’t forget to click subscribe and like if you are interested in more of this kind of content and we’ll see you in the next video.

In the last video from my recent trip to France, I discussed the wonders of resveratrol with my old friend and seventh generation winemaker, Thierry. Our discussion covered many aspects of the wine-making process, and we briefly touched on such things as biodynamic farming (which I will explain in more detail in this video), and “terroir” and how it is used. These are two practices unique to Thierry’s wine-making technique. This is why I chose to source my ingredients for my products, both supplements and skin care, from this particular vineyard.
In the following video, Thierry and I discuss the “leftovers” of the wine making process, which consist of some particularly amazing ingredients, shall we say. Most importantly: the grape seed. From the grape seed we can produce an oil that has incredible health benefits. And beyond that, it also has amazing skin care properties, both of which I’ve used in my product line, in the form of supplements and skin care.
As I said in the last video, this is a man who knows his grapes, from season to soil, from the soil to the root, to the vine, the grape, the juice, the skin, and last but certainly not least, the seed. Hopefully these videos are offering some insight into why I stopped my search here and why I am so fascinated by what we can harness from red wine, starting from the ground up.
Grape seed oil is something most of us know about or have seen, if not tasted. The benefits of it are very surprising. First of all, it is a major antioxidant. Did you know it can improve blood flow and reduce blood pressure? Or that it can benefit your major organs, reduce the risk of cancer, is antibacterial and can improve your skin through collagen and increase elasticity and overall appearance? All of this from the tiniest of seeds! It’s quite miraculous and so true that good things come in small packages!
I’ll let the video do the talking from here on, but I hope that you can see why I am so obsessed with this and why I’ve incorporated it into my products. If you’re interested in taking a look, be sure to visit my website www.naomiwhittel.com and click on “products” to see more.
Thanks for watching, and of course a big shout out to my friend, Thierry for his time and invaluable insight and knowledge of all things grape and wine related. For more info on his wines and vineyard (or to order some really good, healthy wine!) you can search Chateau Payral in Saussignac.
Thanks as always for watching and be sure to go back and check out the other videos we’ve done as part of this France series. Still much more to come, so don’t forget to click subscribe and also to click to the notification bell to be the first to receive alerts when we post new videos.
To your health and happiness,

Max Lugavere is the author of the New York Times best-seller, Genius Foods: Become Smarter, Happier, and More Productive While Protecting Your Brain for Life. He is also a filmmaker, health and science journalist, and hosts the #1 iTunes health podcast The Genius Life.
In this video, he talks about his journey in his career and how he came to be such a big health advocate. Lugavere began his career as a filmmaker. When his mother started to exhibit signs of memory loss, he decided to dedicate his time and career to investigating what role diet plays in our lives as it pertains to mental health, focusing on such disorders as dementia, Alzheimer's disease and Parkinson's. His main focus is on the ketogenic diet and how it can affect cognitive disorders.

In this little video blog, we continue our France series by visiting the beautiful little town of Saint-Émilion, and taking a look inside a charming little cheese shop. This was actually a very spontaneous, no frills, on-the-spot shoot as you’ll see, but I thought this would tie in nicely with themes that we’ve touched on in some previous videos, namely the French “Joie de Vivre” philosophy which was on glorious display here, and “The French Paradox”, both of which you can find links to at the end of the video. It also allowed me a chance to sample and buy some of my favorite cheeses, so, with an old friend from the U.S., and my friend and production colleague from Tokyo with me, fresh off our flights into France, jet lagged and probably a little sleep deprived, we stopped on our way from Bordeaux airport to have a little walk and enjoy a cup of coffee/glass of wine in this lovely village (also a UNESCO world heritage site).
While we had no fancy gear or microphones on us to capture the moment properly, we did our best and didn’t want to miss out on this opportunity to chat with the owner of the little cheese shop and delicatessen, the charming Monsieur Christophe, and learn some fascinating things about cheese that literally had our mouths watering (we left with a lot!) and our interests piqued the moment we started to learn about the different varieties and even the science behind cheesemaking. For example learning about the differences between cheese made with pasteurized milk vs. unpasteurized was very interesting and hearing it not from scientists, but from a passionate individual with experience was indeed very interesting from a cultural standpoint and a health and wellness perspective. It was also great to hear some very interesting trivia as it relates to the French paradox, and seeing this man’s passion for what he does and experiencing the old fashioned love of simple things really stopped me in my tracks and it was something that we all agreed, whether it would go on the channel or not, was worth capturing.
As Christophe mentioned to our astonishment, there are more than 2500 cheeses made in the world and 1250 of them (50% of all the world’s cheeses) are made in France, as such the passion for cheese and their knowledge is simply unparalleled, and on display here were some of the finest I’ve ever seen.
Christophe’s departing words were quite poetic and I couldn’t have agreed more with him… “Life is not sufficient for all the cheeses and all the wines, one must be like a cat with nine lives”. Too true.
Thanks for watching and I hope you enjoy this little glimpse into French cheese culture and the depths behind the little things that were so evident here and that we often take for granted.
Be sure to subscribe if you’d like to see more. This channel as you’ll see with previous videos, covers all manner of topics and themes, ranging from travel and wellness exploration, recipes, how to’s, interviews, all things diet and Keto related, and so much more, all in an effort to help you discover a happier and healthier you.
Merci and bon appétit!
-Naomi
*Special thanks to Monsieur Christophe for allowing us to film and chat with him, he was very generous and gracious with his time. If you’re ever in this region be sure to visit this town and be sure to say bonjour to Christophe and take a look around his wonderful little establishment at the southern entrance of the town. Also thanks to my mother for her assistance in refining the translations from French to English :)

The joy of life… How often can we truly say we are experiencing the joy of life? When we fall in love perhaps, when we spend time with our children, when we get married… these would be the obvious answers, but what I love so much about the French way of life, something that was engrained in me since my childhood, (my mother being French), it gives me a great deal of perspective in an all too busy world.
The Japanese have their own word for this and it is unique to Okinawa, where I have spent so much time over the years, learning about the way of life due to the incredible health that the locals enjoy and the number of centenarians. They are happy people. This sense of appreciation and joy in the small details of life can be found there, whether you see the locals smiling while playing with a child or gardening together and enjoying the sense of community and purpose.
Shortly prior to filming this, I was sipping my wine, greeting locals who smiled and spoke kind words with heart, enjoying a break from filming in the vineyards, and savoring the breeze and sunshine, eating tiny apricots, breathing fresh air, and above all, reflecting.
And then something happened.
For a moment, I felt no stress, I felt no anxiety, nor did I worry, or look at my phone, have racing thoughts or one of the many things we experience hundreds and hundreds of times throughout the day. It was a moment of being present and clear-headed, one of perspective, and appreciation of the details of life. Finding happiness in a tiny apricot or in the wonders of nutrition and how my friend Thierry, a seventh generation vintner can take a tiny grape and with a happy heart and a smiling face create wonderful biodynamic wines and in so doing so, find his own joie de vivre.
Above all it was a moment of joy, experiencing this appreciation, and I hope that this video can inspire you to take a moment when you can to really understand and experience this philosophy by appreciating the joy of your own life and its many wonderful details in every way you can and everything that you do.
Thanks as always for watching, and to your health, and of course, your happiness. :)
C’est parti…Au revoir.
