Thunderblight Ganon (1st Blight, Bow only)
updated
Most of what I have to say has already been said in the File 1 video description, so I'll just go ahead and admit that I honestly lost the video of File 3's Hero's Path in Master Mode. Maybe it will resurface somewhere one day. My file organization is less than stellar after all; I have files strewn across six different devices, so tracking down any one thing has become a fairly taxing task. Therefore, this is actually the last video I plan to upload regarding Breath of the Wild's difficulty scaling system for the foreseeable future. From this point on, there will be no particular theme to future uploads.
This project was an extremely rewarding experience, and ultimately, I accomplished what I set out to do. However, my time with researching Breath of the Wild may be finished with this. In the time it took me to close this chapter, datamining Switch games has become a fairly trivial process, so further efforts would ultimately be redundant, unnecessary, and pointless. BotW 2 is on the horizon... maybe, but... this time, our information on it will come from datamines, and I can spend my time on other pursuits.
So thus, my journey with this sort of research comes to an end. I don't have any specific plans at the moment, but I can guarantee whatever I elect to pursue in the future, it will be something obscure, slightly interesting, and surprisingly complex.
Finally, for reference, the manual save I used as a base for starting any completely new testing was created on 2018/05/04 at 5:16 PM. It is extremely likely that the relatively more recent date of creation is the result of creating a slight modification to the manual save during the research or footage gathering process.
As I only used this and the other Master Mode files for Master Mode specific research and demonstrations, the amount of time spent in it and the others is a mere fraction of the time I spent researching in Normal Mode on their respective files. Even so, I thought it would be interesting to upload the Hero's Paths taken in each Master Mode file as well.
Fun fact: Until a later patch, the gold monster variants gave no points at all. I actually do not know if the points would be added retroactively once the patch is applied, but given that the game keeps track of how many of each monster variant has been killed, I'd imagine that it did.
Finally, for reference, the manual save I used as a base for starting any completely new testing was created on 2017/08/23 at 8:56 PM. Although this technically makes it the oldest manual save, it's very likely that I made minor adjustments on what was once the oldest manual save on the Normal Mode manual save of File 2.
This "fourth" research file, as hinted, was utilized much like research file 3, usually used when that and research file 2 were tied up with too many auto-saves focused on different aspects of research I was looking into or footage I wanted to get for the video. So, as with research file 3, not as much ground was covered compared to research file 2.
Since we cannot see the path I took originally with this file, I will take this opportunity to discuss my initial testing for how the scaling system worked within the comments of this video.
The manual save I used as a base for starting any completely new testing was created on 2018/09/01 at 4:12 AM. So, even with the reset, the manual save here is a bit of an older one.
Since this was mainly a back-up file, the Hero's Path for this one is a little bit short, but unlike with file 2, you can see it start from the beginning!
Finally, for reference, the manual save I used as a base for starting any completely new testing was created on 2019/10/16 at 5:19 AM. While that may seem surprisingly recent, it's likely that I made a small change to this file's manual save that would make getting the last bits of footage I needed for the video easier when starting from it. At the earliest, this file would've been made in very early 2019, but it's much more likely that the file was created sometime back in 2018.
This file was the one I would end up using for the majority of my research, and as such, I actually went over the allotted space for what the Hero's Path records, which is why I start at the peak of Death Mountain here. Unfortunately, there's no way to get the rest, but I think this gives a fairly good idea of how I went about my testing and getting footage.
Finally, for reference, the manual save I used as a base for starting any completely new testing was created on 2017/12/24 at 5:03 PM. This is definitely an old one.

Finally. Here is the complete version of this video. This video was originally uploaded late in 2019 as promised, but my video editor processed it slightly badly, resulting in some footage being cut. It was nevertheless uploaded anyway, with the promise of this version coming within the next month or two. Here is a link to that version: youtube.com/watch?v=44MTR0XkVTc

Basically, moves that are short hopped do 0.85x damage. However, if you short hop and land normally, the next time you do a full hop and attack, the damage will be that of a short hopped aerial.
As shown in the video, this can be avoided by landing with an aerial or special move or landing with an airdodge after the short hop, and it can be undone by landing afterward from special fall, from a full hop, with an attack or airdodge or by double jumping; nothing else will get rid of the state, as shown in the video.
Just remember to keep this in mind until it (hopefully) gets fixed.

With Smash Ultimate now being datamined, it's only a matter of time until we get concrete frame data, and with the game being out in less than two weeks, despite the large amount of footage for Greninja recently, I'm going to give myself a break instead of trying to pour over all that footage only to have my work undone by frame data being leaked right when I finish.

IGNORE THE RED CIRCLES FOR THE UNCHARGED SHURIKEN COMPARISON. I tried using them to show where the shurikens were, but wasn't able to get them right. My apologies. For uncharged, the one from Ultimate, is slightly lower and slightly to the right of the one from 4.
When I mention that calculating the damage while fresh involves dividing the number by 1.2, I meant to say that dividing by 1.2 is how I get the damage in teams when the move is fresh.
Here are some of the percent changes I could figure out for the blurrier pictures.
Forward Air: 74.1% to 90%
Jab 2: 2.1 to 4.2
Multi-hit Jab: 4.2 to 4.7
Jab FInisher: 7.8 to 9.9
Water Shuriken Multi-hit: 58.1 to 59.1
Water Shuriken FInal Hit: 61.2 to 70.7
Special thanks to the translator.
It probably has something to do with how the sunlight works, but I know basically nothing about graphics, so I could be way off.
For anyone curious or with a desire to reproduce this, this occurred right next to Ridgeland Tower, on the platform with a Knight's Shield in the middle alongside a varied assortment of weapons at around 9:45-9:47 AM in clear weather.

Apologies for getting this out so late. I wanted to get this out three or four days ago, but I had a bit of a hectic week.
Various notes:
Ignore the arrow that appears during the first frame of Ultimate's Bair start-up. It was supposed to be higher. A more accurate pointer to Greninja's location in that clip has been added via closed captioning.
It may seem weird that I assume Nair comes out on frame 12 in Ultimate when the water animation seemingly comes out one frame earlier than the hitbox does in Smash 4, but I think it's safe to say that was probably an error and that the water animation now likely starts on the same frame that the hitbox does.

Turn on closed captioning for minor text corrections.
Regarding Smash Ultimate frames that I am classifying as "active," I only labeled the ones that could 100% be confirmed as active or are can be ascertained as almost certainly being active (namely in the cases of Water Shuriken and Substitute's counterattack). Basically, stuff like Dtilt, the jabs, and Dash Attack will almost certainly not be active for only a frame, but since we are only able to 100% confirm them being active for one frame, I only labeled that one frame.
Regarding the potential new hitlag effect seen with Shadow Sneak, I posit that perhaps that certain moves, during hitlag, will cause the character using the move to slowly animate as if they're in 1/4 time; although the games run at 60 FPS, in every Smash game, there are many more frames of animation for any given action that can be seen in 1/4 time in Training Mode that would not typically be seen at 1x speed, which is what I'm guessing is now being shown during certain types of hitlag.
Finally, apologies for some of the janky video editing. My laptop was chugging really hard near the end of making this video, making editing take eons longer than it should have, and I wasn't able to completely polish it off as well as I would have liked.

(Regarding my BotW video)
I'm still working on the BotW video I have planned, but taking a small break with Odyssey for a little bit. It's a rather comprehensive look at a mechanic that takes a while to gather data about, so it will be a while longer unfortunately. I do intend to post everything the video will cover in text after I've done all the research, so at least that will come out relatively soon compared to the video.
