MitsukotheDarkAngel
(BLS) Zuko - Demons [PART 4]
updated
I started this video about two years ago and quickly dropped it. (It's one of the "five projects" I mentioned in the description of my "All is Fair in War" video.)
In a spark of inspiration, I gave this video another chance back in February, and here we are with a finished product. This is my first full-length AMV after my intentional editing break. It was pretty therapeutic to go back to editing (especially Code Geass.) Maybe I'll continue writing my "Nunnally has Geass" AU again... idk.
I had a lot of fun with this. For most of my videos, I "discover" an editing technique that I apply throughout the video. For this video, it's the "line-art" effect, which I'd been trying to work out for about a year. I wanted to have that ready for a different video (but we'll see if I actually complete it lol.)
Song: Gangsta's Paradise by Coolio
Show: Code Geass Lelouch of the Rebellion (and R2)
I watched Luca over the summer with my visiting siblings, after a 9-month absence due to the pandemic. This film filled me with nostalgia for my youth, and the video was born in my mind. Luca's journey of deciding to pursue his own desires resonated with me. It's easy for me to fall into the trap of doing what others expect of me at the expense of my own feelings. Choosing to do what's best for yourself isn't easy. People will be disappointed in you, but I think it's worth it in the end. I recommend giving it a watch; it's easily one of my top-5 Pixar films.
It took about three weeks of editing for this video to come to fruition. Special thanks to TheLazyDaze (youtube.com/channel/UCU5l4brYEJbIJStLTSoCSXQ) and vivafringe (youtube.com/c/vivafringe) for helping me tweak this video to where it is today.
I'm proud of this video, and I had a lot of fun making it.
Audio: Younglife by Anberlin
Video: Pixar's Luca
It may be a while before I upload another video. I started a very long editing streak back in January 2020, and I need a break 😅
I took some inspiration from Geass Twist by @Spooknight because I love the idea of Zero taking over the entertainment industry in order to usurp Britannia's monopoly on television. That's why I focused on the iconic imagery of the mask and costume in front of cameras, and the large crowd of Zeros from "One Million Miracles."
I've wanted to use this song for many years, but I always felt this song was too short. I still feel that way, but I need to vomit a quick video, lol. Book 2 of Avatar is my favorite book. It has the most complete character arc for Aang, and it's better structured than Book 1 or Book 3. Don't believe me? Look at the first episode of this book: The Avatar State. In it, the writers establish Aang's lack of control in the Avatar State, his fear of losing Katara, and Roku tells him the consequences of failing in the Avatar State. We're also introduced to Azula and lightning generation. What happens in the last episode? Aang is killed by Azula's lightning.
There are lots of other reasons why Book 2 is better than the other books, but I think that goes beyond the scope of what I want to write in a YouTube description, lol. For now, I hope you enjoy it. If it looks kind of rushed, it is... I wanted to get something out quick and dirty while also trying something a little different from my usual videos.
Song: Don't Look Down by OneRepublic
Video: ATLA Book 2: Earth
Video: Into the Spiderverse
This video was completed for the first round of a secret IC hosted by the editing discord "AMV Sashimi". Here is their YouTube channel (youtube.com/channel/UC_kRz-Un59c3ExnGGHAk1AQ)
This time, every audio from round 1 was selected by a different editor to create another video for round 2. I couldn't change the audio in any way.
My round 2 video: youtu.be/OVuWMyWu7W0
Homesick (Round 2): youtube.com/watch?v=AtbDaWsdr2A
I liked the original upload, but there were a lot of problems with the video. First, the video was stretched from 4:3 to 16:9 due to a glitch in my copy of Vegas (you can also see this in "Zuko - Reconciliation"). I don't know why I uploaded it like that, since I had a way to squash the video back to the correct aspect ratio. Also, I wanted to take out the titles I took from the original trailer and substitute my own. I found a white lotus transparent image on Google, and I masked two screenshots to form the final logo. Originally, I was going to squash the original video and swap out the titles, but I ended up editing the entire video from scratch (relatively speaking... I chose the same scenes 60% of the time.)
Unfortunately, there are some problems with this video as well, but they're minor enough that I'll one day forget them entirely. It's just been an agonizing struggle to render again and again just to fix something I lack the skill to fix properly. Because the video stopped being fun, I declared it done, like I usually do. It's very difficult for me to dedicate a lot of time to one project. The vast majority of my videos took around three days of work to complete. I think the longest I've spent on one video is a week, and even then, I fill up the timeline in about three days and spend the rest of it tweaking little things here and there.
In spite of what happened with this video, I'm still happy with how it turned out. Although I rarely get inspiration to make a trailer, editing one is always lots of fun. (You can see my other trailers in the playlist "My Trailers/Parodies"). Hope you guys enjoy this while you can 😉
I haven't completed a video since March, so this is a labor of forcing creativity. No effects (except for a hidden mask.) Only hard cuts, which I've never done before (even for my earliest videos.)
No, I regret nothing.
This video was remixed for a secret IC hosted in AMV Sashimi, a Discord community I'm a part of.
The remix: youtube.com/watch?v=KU1KYLFwoKs
If anyone wants to see my remix video... it's here youtu.be/vAIVwFdcE1c
I heard this song on the last day of 2020 and I WEPT. Jacob Bank's low vibrato shook my soul and pierced through my deep sorrow. I knew I had to make a video with this song using Interstellar, my favorite Chris Nolan film. (although... I'll never forgive him for ruining an amazing story about a father's love with a ham-fisted romance.) This video was originally intended to be an aesthetics experiment using various space films, but I didn't want to spend too much money buying movies. In the end, it was Interstellar and Arrival: two films with a parent-child relationship as the emotional core.
I didn't intend to make a video about my feelings, but here we are, lol.
For my first live action video, I'm happy with how it turned out. I also entered this into RICE 2021, and I received these accomplishments:
Best Drama Finalist
Best Artistic Finalist
"Most Best" Finalist (Best in Show)
This video was a finalist for "Best Character Profile" in RICE 2021. It was a lot of fun to make, and I'm really grateful to Vars (youtube.com/channel/UC6W8uq51i_dBiUVa_8XbKYQ) for being my BETA watcher for this. Death Note was the second anime I saw, so it helped to define my taste in shows. I watched it again last year, and I guess I edit with it now, haha.
Anime: Death Note
Song: Killer Shangri-lah by Pshychotic Beats
- Zenkaikon 2021 Comedy Finalist
Wow, two hours is not a long time, but I had a lot of fun. It's weird, I started this off as a Yuki only video, but I forgot a ton of his scenes so Rin and Kyo found their way in. Then I realized I had 30 seconds left and 30 minutes left, so Saki and Arisa snuck in too.
But now there's only love in the dark"
I edited this, but it isn't my original idea. (sweaterskeletons.tumblr.com/post/176931145017/halfway-thru-this-i-realized-that-im-a-terrible)
I'm usually much better at editing audio, but the key changes... man... that's hard, and way too much effort for a meme Death Note video.
I wanted to experiment with my PRO video, and I feel bad I just made another ATLA vid. Editing audio still makes me nervous, though. I almost submitted with no voiceovers, but I'm glad I didn't chicken out. I tried a different audio technique this time (by decreasing the song audio when there's talking. I hope it isn't distracting, and I'll try harder in a few years when I decide I hate this video, lol.) Maybe next year I'll finish a non-traditional AMV for PRO. (But we'll see. I'm not good at forcing myself to edit something.)
This will be my last upload of 2020. My desire to edit plummeted right after I made "Smolder," unfortunately. 2020 was a productive year for me. I made 10 brand new AMVs (my average is like 4.) However, it seems like it's time for me to cycle back to some of my other hobbies. Don't worry though, I've been editing for almost 12 years. I can guarantee I'll be back.
1. Dream On
youtu.be/AN3MtTbsPQc
I made this last year, and I can't remember much about it. There's a weird cut in the middle that bothers me a lot now :( and I don't like my use of red. I'm surprised the MEP is still up, considering the recent takedowns.
2. House of Memories Mashup
youtu.be/7u0lqu4H_xM
I honestly didn't know what to do here, so I threw a bunch of sources together. We have Avatar, Charlotte, Code Geass, Cowboy Bebop Death Note, Free, and One Punch Man.
3. Parachutes and Airplanes
youtu.be/V35ytQqj0Wk
This is for Liv's MEP. It came out really cute. Ugh, I miswrote the title of the song in this video... oh well XD. (It's because I was too lazy and named the video file "parachutes pt 21")
4. My Blood
youtu.be/GohGN4BcsUA
Looks like I edit with Mob Psycho 100 now. I watched it over the summer, and I love it a lot. Go watch it if you haven't ;)
5. Lose You to Love Me
youtu.be/4PmkidClA9Y
Yukka is my only canon ship in the show, and I love editing them together. I also was able to reclaim some effects for free? (I already forgot how I got them, though.) Unfortunately, my computer easily crashes with rendering. I was so sad that I wouldn't be able to render this, but then I remembered an old trick. If a video crashes when rendering in Vegas, open a new project and drop the problematic project onto the timeline. Try rendering this "new" project.
6. Breakout
youtu.be/B7xb3TpcQEQ
Initially, someone else asked for the same part with the same character, and I was added as a backup (which is a bummer), but the person dropped out and I got to do the part I wanted anyways, lol. It worked out well for me, haha. I really like how this part came out. It looks like another editor did this, tbh.
I have a Zuko video to pair with this, but it may be a while before you guys see it. (I'm waiting until my excitement for that video goes down, haha. But trust me, it's so much better than the other Zuko tribute I have up.) I'm not too happy with how this video came out. I think the clips transition too quickly. I slowed many of them down, but they still transition too abruptly for the song.
"The Fray's version of Heartless (by Kanye West) in an @TLA video.
It's kind of Zutara as a past relationship (with Katara being evil and going to @ang) "
Eleven years ago, I made a Zutara video using this song... and I lost it, so I made it again and used it to start this channel! Unfortunately, the powers that be blocked it from YouTube. Hopefully they don't find this one, haha. The 2009 version can be found: vimeo.com/464424467
I've been in a bit of a funk lately due to an unknown sickness, but while spending time with my family, I felt inspired to complete this video. It felt nice to go down memory lane and think about the effects I originally wanted to do but lacked the skill (like the "photos.") It's also interesting to put the videos side by side and see how my style has mainly stayed the same over my time on YouTube.
Side-by-side: youtu.be/dRwcKUQmlOg
Over the last couple months, I've started five videos (that I intend to finish!) But last week, I decided to make this video instead? I did a short part for an MEP back in 2014 (I was still in high school, lol): youtube.com/watch?v=JEqLzfI77IY. I felt that the entire song fit the show well, but I never had an interest in making the AMV until now.
Every time I watch Code Geass, I get something new out of it. It's a show about racial inequalities, it's a show about revenge, and it's also a show about the cycle of violence. Suzaku, Nunnally, and Lelouch each experienced violent trauma as children, and are unable to escape that violence as teenagers. They hurt and kill countless people on their own individual paths towards righting the wrongs committed against them. Each character is morally gray, and it's part of why I keep coming back to this show.
No matter how many lighthearted Code Geass AMVs I make, I can't erase the horror and violence embedded in the visuals and the story.
Song: Can't Pretend by Tom Odell
Show: Code Geass: Lelouch of the Rebellion
Editing Software: Vegas Pro 15
(I'm aware that some of you miss my Code Geass videos. I miss them too, so I'm working on a couple right now.)
When I first started watching AMVs, I really liked the parody videos by BentPaperClip. I revisited a lot of her old videos before making this one. I'm also trying to work on my comedic timing, since I haven't tried to make a funny video in four years.
After hearing this song in the first season of Umbrella Academy, I knew I had to make an Avatar video (but due to my busy schedule, it took almost two years before I actually made it.) I'm pretty happy with how it turned out, and I hope you guys enjoy it too.
Now I'm crossing my fingers that this doesn't get taken down. I know they track the show’s name, but hopefully the acronym isn’t being tracked too.
ZUUUUUTAAAARAAA!!!!
*steps down*
That is all.
(I can't believe it's been four years since I made a Zutara video, and I've wanted to use this song for ten years now. Better late than never, lol.)
I open my arms to welcome all the new ATLA and Zutara fans! It's so nice to see the fandom grow.
Song: Which to Bury: Us or the Hatchet?
Show: ATLA
Pairing: Zuko and Katara (Zutara)
P.S. I wanted to try out "slideshows" ever since I saw this video: youtu.be/dvTSojv8No4
Aang has to examine all his earthly attachments: his friendships, his ties to nature, his fears, and his love. In order to defeat the Firelord, he must reach spiritual enlightenment. Ultimately, he can't let go of Katara, and the cost is his own life.
Show: ATLA
Song: What a Wonderful World
Editing program: Vegas Pro 15
I wanted to use this song for a long time, but I couldn't find a download of the version I wanted to use (OneRepublic's iTunes Session.) After a long search, I found this version by Thomas Law. Although I love the original recording of "What a Wonderful World," I thought it was too upbeat for the story I wanted to tell.
Rendering was a pain, as always, and I kept tweaking little things over the weekend. I feel like this is the most complete I could have the video, and I'm proud of the result. I hope you guys enjoy :)
(because my 11 year anniversary is next month... whoops)
Why is this my anniversary video instead of the one I've been hesitant to complete for the past year? ...Maybe I've been "misbehaving"? ;)
Let's go back to 2009. I became enamored with ATLA videos (especially Azula ones). Several of my earliest videos are Azula tributes, so I went back to them to seek inspiration for this video. I intentionally used effects I haven't used in many years (like the "mask generator" and "glow" tools. I honestly forgot about them, which is weird since they look so cool here!) I was also inspired by movie intros (especially "The Man from U.N.C.L.E." and 007 films.) Finally, I wanted to invoke one of my favorite AMVs: Daughters of the Elements by raven. (I can't find it anymore!)
Thank you for your continued support on my videos. I'm surprised my last Code Geass video is getting so many views. That one is probably my favorite video at the moment, but this one comes in a close second!
So, you all may have noticed that many of my Avatar AMVs are missing. I deleted a handful for personal reasons, but the rest were blocked worldwide by Viacom (big meanies.) If this one gets taken down, I'll try something else, but I honestly don't know what to do about that.
Guess who rewatched Death Note just for this video? Haha, as soon as I heard this cover of "Danse Macabre," I knew it would be perfect for Death Note. I tried to get out of rewatching it, by making this a Code Geass video, but Death Note works better, don't you think?
Anyways, this was a relatively easy video for me to make and I'm happy with how it turned out. I was captivated by how evil Light turned out to be (and since I'm still in denial about the ending, I left the victor open-ended in this video.)
I'm surprised I've never made a Death Note video before. The story heavily inspired my art and stories [which you guys don't know about, and that's okay. ;) ]
I hope you enjoy my first Death Note AMV. I was inspired to incorporate sound effects after watching this amazing video by DannyPhantomSG1 and Midnight Mist, found here: youtube.com/watch?v=_9XXm0BPi8E
Anime: Death Note
Song: Danse Macabre by the Oh Hellos
Editing Program: Vegas Pro 15
So... it's January 2020, and it looks like I let 2019 pass without finishing a single AMV.
Whoops.
I graduated from college (again), and now I'm at home chilling until I have to become a real adult and start working. Fortunately, I'm sick, so my laziness is excusable and I have a lot of time to edit videos. It actually took me only four days to make this. It's my longest pop song-based AMV in many years and I'm pretty proud of it. Hopefully you guys can enjoy it too.
I'm about halfway through my 10-year anniversary video, which is an Avatar AMV, so hopefully I'll be able to complete it soon. (Unless I start working on the other two Code Geass AMVs I want to make.)
For this video, I wanted to focus on Lelouch's accomplishes his most significant moments. (I veered away from his low points, although I intended to include them when I initially planned this video.) I enjoyed "Re;surrection" a lot and I'm happy to have included some scenes from the movie at the end of the video. The way Lelouch deduced Shamna's Geass was absolutely amazing. Too bad I couldn't represent it in this AMV.
Song: Sorry Not Sorry by Demi Lovato
Anime: Code Geass, R2, Koudou, Handou, Re;surrection
Editing Software: Vegas Pro 15 (I bought it through HumbleBundle in 2018)
2020 - Honorable Mention in Thy Geekdom Con's AMV Contest
I uploaded my very first AMV nearly ten years ago youtube.com/watch?v=Dxcn5wiHGzU. I've improved so much, and I'm surprised that I still enjoy doing this.
I hope you guys enjoy this video because I'm seriously not feeling it anymore. I don't even have a desire to create a title card for it.
Hopefully the story here is not confusing. I saw "The Double" last year and loved the movie and the soundtrack, so this video is inspired by the story.
Song: The Double Theme (Version 1) and The Double Theme (Version 2)
Anime: Code Geass: Lelouch of the Rebellion
The song is by Ramzoid youtube.com/channel/UCecrxw9xtxME6o5_mz4TtOA, who is an amazing artist and you should definitely check out his other songs.
I still love Code Geass a lot, even though I'm disappointed there won't be a third season after all. Lelouch x Kallen may not be my favorite Lelouch ship, but I still enjoy their relationship. I thought this song really fit, and this style was out of my comfort zone as an editor. I've been pulling away from lots of effects, although I returned to that here. I used to think that I'm not good at dubstep-py songs, but you tell me. How do you think I did here?
Abandoned Sail AMV
I have many abandoned Code Geass AMVs from 2015-2016. This is one of them.
0:30 Avatar - SAND MEP: youtube.com/watch?v=6ixOnHI94iQ
I really enjoyed this MEP. It turned out really well!
0:53 Anime - Human MEP: youtube.com/watch?v=JzvZJAOoiqo
This one was really fun to make, and it's probably one of my favorite edits.
1:37 Anime - Smile MEP: youtube.com/watch?v=ja6dCSqTjps
My computer was giving me problems, so I ended up creating this in a trial version of Premiere Pro. I wish I could have done a better job with it.
1:57 Anime - Dead to Me MEP: TBA
I can't wait for this to be completed. This is the first time I've tried to do 80s aesthetic, which I will be trying again in a future MEP.
2:15 Anime - Again MEP: TBA
Now, a lot of the MEPs I do never get finished, but I REALLY HOPE this one is. I loved working on this so much, and I feel like it's one of my best edits.
2:37 Anime - Ice King MEP: TBA
I'm trying to get better at slow edits. Still a work in progress. The MEP is still open, so try to join if you're interested! youtube.com/watch?v=DnqT_WsoeyM

Shirley is such a tragic character. She loved Lelouch despite all the awful things he did, and she even forgave him for causing her father's death. I really think that's beautiful, and I'm still very upset that she died. Lelouch cared about her deeply (I'm not sure about romantically) but his rage following her death is a side of Lelouch that is nowhere else in the series. (When Nunnally *dies*, he loses all hope, but his actions against Britannia are still calm and calculated.) I suppose you can conclude that Shirley dies by falling (and as she falls, she gains her memories) rather than what really happened to her (ugh!) Every time I watch Code Geass, my opinions on most of the characters change a bit, but Shirley's death ruins it for one character.
I contemplated adding text throughout this video, but I rarely enjoy it when I do, and decided this video is fine without it. The only issue is that I had some trouble deciphering the words of the song without looking at the lyrics (so I *may* come back to this in the future, adding text for the purpose of AMV contests or something.)
Thank you so much for watching! I've been on a video streak lately and I'm happy about that.
The song is "Light's Theme - RUDE Remix." youtube.com/watch?v=LvtklODtOOg
The Chinese characters in the thumbnail is Zuko.
I had a TON of trouble coming up with a title for this video. I ended up with reconciliation based on the last voice-over. As the great-grandson of both the Avatar and the Firelord who started the war, Zuko is the one who could end the curse and begin the reconciliation process between the Fire Nation and the rest of the world.
I also had some text, but decided to get rid of it since I dislike how I put text in video. A reason why it took me so long to finish is because Vegas refused to let me put any voice-overs. I had to render this video twice :/
I don't really like editing with songs that have no words. The last time I tried this, I ended up making the clips cut too quickly. This time, I think I did better, but the voice-overs are too close (since I edited the video without them, and put markers where each voice-over should go.)
Overall, I think it's okay. Not my best video, but my style is changing and I have mixed feelings about that.
Eventually, I'll add the [Dead Project DX] tag to the title, but probably not until I upload another Code Geass video.
Also, I have no clue what that weird shaking is at 0:25
Song is "God Put a Smile Upon Your Face" by Coldplay.
The reason why I have no desire to finish this video is because my editing style is so different now there will be a clear line of demarkation between the old style and the new.
So, my Macbook broke, and I'm back to my old laptop (which is why I have the old signature here.) I recently graduated from college (yay!), but I mostly use this computer for work (boo!) Hopefully, I'll be able to finish the video I have in my Q&A video. (Vegas is giving me trouble with it by refusing to play any audio from ATLA.)
This is the Batman V Superman trailer. (I hated the movie, but I still think the trailer was pretty good.)
I apologize that the video capture software I used is terrible at capturing my voice. I recorded this four times because I kept going on tangents and complicating my answers.
I also made this in June 2016.
Audio is from the Looney Tunes Show.
EDIT: I'm losing subs over this?
Also, I'm tricking you guys into thinking I just made this, when I made it in June 2016.
This video was edited more using Sony Vegas Pro 10. Final Cut is okay, but I'm so used to Vegas that I had to add some other things that I can't do in Final Cut (most notably, I can't keyframe brightness/contrast or create my own masks.) This is the final result. I hope you guys enjoy it!
I do, it's just that I hate it. (I'm very slowly working on a video in that format. Hopefully I'll finish it within the next month or so.)
This is for Hana's MEP. (I don't really do these much lately, and not from lack of trying :p)
Also...New watermark since I forgot the name of my old font. XD

I'm back! Back to editing Avatar by going back to my "roots," a.k.a. my OTP Zutara!
OMG I rendered this so many times trying to get it to look nice, but the quality of my Avatar clips somehow got worse (or it's just my editing idk.)
I don't know what's been wrong lately, but I don't like it.

2020 EDIT: LOOOOOL I thought! I got a Macbook in 2017, but it broke in 2018. I only made one AMV using Final Cut Pro, and I didn't like the experience.
This is a channel trailer/all the anime I currently edit with. You will note that Korra isn't here. For sanity issues, I've removed myself from the Korra fandom, so if you subscribe for that, I'm sorry, but I'm not planning on editing with that show for an indefinite amount of time. Feel free to unsubscribe; I don't want to clog up your dashboard with things you don't care about.
The media I used are A:tLA, Charlotte, Code Geass (both series), Free! (both series), Durarara!! (first series), Cowboy Bebop, Hyouka, and One Punch Man.
Yuu is like a mini-Lelouch in his mannerisms. His power is to control anyone in his line of sight for 5 seconds. Joujirou can run at super-sonic speeds (although he cannot steer while running or safely stop), and Nao can become invisible to a single target of her choice.

It's weird. When Avatar ended, the vidding fandom continued to grow. However, now that Korra is over, I don't see many people making videos, writing fanfiction, etc. I guess it's a feeling I share with many other people. Korra's ending feels wrapped up, leaving me ready to move on to the next obsession.

Canceled Collab
Well, I wanted to make a video with that song, but figured my style couldn't sustain a song that long so I asked PHtrisyia if she wanted to collab. However, since I no longer feel like I can edit Korra, and Hana is busy with school, so I decided it'd be best if I just canceled it.
Avatar - Roads Untraveled Part 3
I don't like this part :/ Most of my videos tend to get more crammy/pannicky near the end. This video loses its timing near the end. I've tried to adopt an outside-in style of editing (a few of my videos were edited like this. I start from the beginning and the end and work my way inside) after failing at a backwards video (BRH).

This MEP flowed really well. I also learned that "Add Noise" makes the video grainy so I've stopped using it...

Anime - Viva la Vida Part 4
Definitely one of my favorites that I've ever made. Although it didn't take me long to make, I had to restrain myself from editing the clips too fast like I normally do. The first time I ever heard this song was in a Code Geass AMV so I had to make it as raw as possible (because I love this song too much lol.)

P.S. Somehow everything went wrong and my part is the ugliest in the whole darn MEP and I'm very upset about it.
Song is by Vance Joy
