Mendoza was found guilty of murder, felony discharge with serious bodily injury, felony discharge with bodily injury, and possession of a firearm by a restricted person.
Salazar died from injuries, including a gunshot to the back of his head, on Jan. 9, 2021. He was found face-down in a driveway and died hours later at a local hospital.
Witnesses told police Salazar had been arguing with Mendoza, then 19, and “Mendoza produced a gun and shot Salazar,” charging documents say.
The jury in the case deliberated for six hours, says a statement from the office of District Attorney Sim Gill.
“This was a tough case,” Gill said in a prepared statement. “Our Office has been working on this case for the better part of a year. I cannot say enough good things about the prosecutors and investigators that handled this case. The police officers that worked this case and put it together deserve to be commended as well.
“Alex Mendoza was found guilty in a court of law. Our communities can sleep easier knowing that he has been held accountable.”
Mendoza’s sentencing is set for Oct. 20 of this year.

Hey Ryan,
Growing pains and haters. An old MAGA lady has targeted me with a high IQ, but very low EQ watches all my videos. So, she is toxic and triggered. She is marketing my name all over FB/Reddit and curious new subscribers are now on my YouTube laughing at her after they see for themselves.
She is making accusations everywhere. I never said I worked for you, I never implied. I make commercials and content for a lot of groups. They saw the commercial on FB and assumed?
Either way. I would never try and misrepresent working for anyone. These trolls are desperate to discredit me in any compacity... but truthfully are emotionally marketing my name/brand for the long game. I hope this does not upset any working/video (nonlegal) relationship we have.
No worries. If you need me to make a statement or testify on the loudest one. I will. I do know a lot of dads are reaching out. Nothing in the valley yet.

While conducting the operation, numerous suspects were observed engaged in narcotics sales and were arrested. Six people were arrested after Hartford police conducted an investigation into drug dealing.
Police say that detectives from Vice & Narcotics and Street Crimes Unit conducted a street level narcotics operation to address multiple complaints made about drug dealing in the city.
During the operation, police say they observed several people engaged in drug sales and made six arrests. They also seized a semi-auto 9mm pistol, 1,000 bags of heroin/Fentanyl, marijuana, crack cocaine and $20,000 in cash. One suspect, a convicted felon, was found to be in possession of a loaded 9mm semi-auto pistol and secured without incident. As a result of the operation and investigation, (1) semi-auto 9mm pistol, approx. 1000 bags Heroin/Fentanyl, Marijuana, Crack Cocaine and approx. $20,000 in US Currency was seized. In total, (6) adult suspects were arrest.
Zachary Vannais, 28, previously of Coventry, was sentenced Friday in Rockville Superior Court on two counts of Risk of Injury to a Minor, two counts of Enticing a Minor, and two counts of Misrepresentation of Age to Entice a Minor for a total effective sentence of 10 years execution, suspended after four years served, to be followed by 10 years of probation. nbcconnecticut.com/news/local/man-posed-as-teen-to-entice-children-into-online-sexual-relationships-police/2234059 Vannais will also be required to register as a sexual offender.
Vannais was arrested in March 2020 in connection to multiple incidents from November 2019 to January 2020 in Coventry. Vannais was a basketball and baseball coach for the Town of Coventry Recreation Department.
Court records show Vannais created a fake social media account posing as a high school-aged female and contacted eight students who played on his team, soliciting nude photos. In some of these instances, he would offer to pay or provide gifts if the victims sent him nude photos. All but one victim was under the age of 16 at the time.
The victims told their parents, who then told Coventry police.
Vannais admitted to the police that he did use a fake account to solicit these images from the students he coached. The Coventry Police Department later executed a search and seizure warrant on Vannais’ cell phone and found the crimes on his social media account.
“This case highlights the risks associated with young people, predators and social media,” Supervisory Assistant State’s Attorney Jaclyn Preville, who prosecuted the cases, said. “More importantly, however, it highlights the fact that sexual offenders can hold themselves out to be pillars of the community, gaining the trust and confidence of children and parents alike. The children who were victimized by Mr. Vannais, and their families, should be commended for the courage it took to come forward and report these incidents. It can often be difficult to report cases of sexual abuse and grooming, and the bravery of these families cannot be understated.”

The justices say it’s to protect individuals who have not been convicted of a crime, preventing a lifetime of embarrassment and shame.
Maricopa County claimed that releasing mug shots was best for transparency and public safety.
However, lawyers interviewed say having a mug shot online could lead to job losses, humiliation, and other harmful consequences for those not yet convicted.
“This is very embarrassing, right? You are taking one photo of someone most likely at one of the worst days of their life, and you are blasting it all over the internet, to mock them,” said Jared Keenan, legal director for the ACLU, who is not affiliated with the case, in reaction to the Ninth Circuit Court of Appeals’ decision.
“There are always competing interests in a case like this,” said a criminal defense attorney, Jason Lamm. “The public has the right to know certain information. But that has to be balanced against the individual’s right to privacy.”
Lamm stressed that the ruling upholds the constitutional rights of those arrested, explaining that an arrest is not the same as a conviction. “They’ve merely been arrested, and that is not enough proof or even close to a conviction,” Lamm said.
Maricopa County currently posts mugshots of all recent arrests dating back three days.
But that third-party websites often take screenshots and repost these mugshots to their thousands of followers on social media, leaving individuals’ names, faces, and charges online—even if their cases are dropped.
“You only need probable cause to make an arrest, that’s a very small amount of evidence,” Keenan said. “So yes, lots of people get arrested who later have their charges dismissed because there is not enough evidence, they actually committed a crime, and they are entirely innocent.”
Keenan says once a mug shot is posted online, it has very real consequences for the arrested person. In its opinion, the court particularly cited public humiliation and discomfort, compounded by reputational harm, as major concerns.
Arizona’s Family contacted the Maricopa County Sheriff’s Office for a statement on the ruling but was told the office cannot comment on pending litigation. If appealed, the case could go to the Supreme Court.
This is not the first law of its kind. As of Jan. 1, 2024, a California law banned agencies from posting mug shots on social media.

P1-2021-3171BG
On October 19, 2021, the Providence County Grand Jury returned an indictment charging Jahcolin Rodrigues with one count of murder, four counts of conspiracy, one count of discharging a firearm while committing a crime of violence resulting in death, one count of drive-by shooting, one count of carrying a firearm without a license, one count of possessing a ghost gun, and two counts of possessing a firearm after being convicted of a crime of violence.
The alleged acts occurred in the city of Pawtucket sometime on or about May 15, 2021. The Pawtucket Police Department conducted the investigation. The short, Providence man admitted in court he killed a man in Pawtucket in 2021, Attorney General Peter Neronha said Thursday.
Last week, Jahcolin Rodrigues, 23, pleaded guilty to first-degree murder and discharging a firearm in connection to the slaying of Leonardo Tavares. Prosecutors said Rodrigues will remain held without bail at the Rhode Island Adult Correctional Institutions in Cranston until he is sentenced on Sept. 9.
Had the case gone to trial, prosecutors said they were prepared to prove Rodrigues shot and killed Tavares on Randall Street in Pawtucket on May 15, 2021.
"One fatal act of gun violence yields so much suffering, forever changing the lives of those who cared for the victim," Attorney General Peter Neronha. "It is my hope that by holding accountable violent criminals, like this defendant, we help deter others from committing similar acts of violence."
During the afternoon on May 15, Rodrigues spotted Tavares while driving through Pawtucket in a Subaru Impreza. After circling the block, he shot several times into Tavares’ Nissan Rogue, killing the victim, prosecutors said. Several witnesses positively identified the defendant from video surveillance footage of the crime.

Then in 2018, a detective submitted a DNA sample to Parabon NanoLabs, a genetic genealogy company, which conducted an analysis that included DNA phenotyping and genetic genealogy.
Five years later, through various investigative methods and information from the genetic genealogy analysis, detectives were able to identify Dana Shepherd as a suspect in the case.
In 2024, after obtaining DNA samples for traditional forensic testing, the Marion County Forensic Services Agency notified Unsolved Homicide Unit detectives that Shepherd’s DNA profile matched DNA samples found at the scene and on Van Huss’ body.
At the press conference on Tuesday, deputy police Chief Kendale Adams told reporters that authorities in Boone County, Missouri, surveilled Shepherd and took him into custody.
Detectives attempted to speak with Shepherd, but he refused to talk without legal representation.
Shepherd lived at the same apartment complex as Carmen in 1993, and the units were connected by a shared common area, including a laundry room, according to court documents.
He is listed as an employee of the University of Missouri, where he works as a custodian, according to university records.
Shepherd is being held without bond at the Boone County Jail in Missouri. A hearing will be held in the coming days as prosecutors seek his extradition back to Indiana.

Rodney McWeay, 31, asked to be released on bond Tuesday, but a Fulton County Superior Court judge wasted no time turning him down. The hearing was over within 11 minutes. "I think he's a danger to reoffend and a danger to the community, based on his criminal history," Judge Kevin Farmer said. "And also, a threat to intimidate witnesses." Police Report documentcloud.org/documents/24252606-mcweay-report The McWeay case has exposed cracks in Georgia’s child protective services system, specifically a lack of cooperation between Atlanta police and the state Division of Family and Children Services. Records show DFCS workers used 911 to ask for police assistance, rather than backchannels that would indicate coordinated efforts.
Now he is trying to steal and rob other inmates...
A lingering question in the case: How could a father with no parental rights, accused of kidnapping his children, keep police and child protective services at bay by refusing to open his door?

Detroit physician is being held on a $2 million bond after reportedly recording hundreds of nude images of children and women over several years.
Oumair Aejaz is accused of placing hidden cameras in changing rooms, bathrooms, bedrooms, closets, hospital rooms and more in an effort to record people changing.
At a press conference Tuesday, Aug. 20, both the Oakland County sheriff and Prosecutor Karen McDonald said it was one of the worst cases they’ve ever worked on. Sheriff Mike Bouchard said he can’t estimate how many victims there are “because there are so many of them,” and that Aejaz “definitely sexually abused folks.”
The crimes reportedly had been going on for at least six years.
Aejaz reportedly was a contract physician who primarily worked at Ascension Genesys and Henry Ford Macomb Hospital, but he could have handled patients elsewhere. Cameras were also reportedly used to capture images at the Goldfish Swim School in Rochester, but there’s no evidence a camera was affixed there.
The hospitals and the Goldfish center have been cooperating with the investigation.
“We are shocked by these allegations and take them very seriously. This individual has never been an employee of Henry Ford Health but had privileges at several area hospitals, including Henry Ford Macomb Hospital. The safety of our patients and team members is our top priority and we have taken immediate action to prevent him from practicing at our health system.”

“Evil. I don’t have any other explanation besides he’s evil,” said Ogle.
Ogle calls it a scene out of a horror movie. Allie and Jaxson are living an unimaginable nightmare after police say 51-year-old Todd Marchetti caused a series of tragic events.
“There’s a lot of fear. She was really afraid of him,” said Ogle.
Marchetti is Jaxson’s father and Allie’s boyfriend of a year and a half. Detectives say Marchetti broke into a home in Surprise around 3 a.m. Friday and held Allie and Jaxson hostage.
The incident occurred near Bell and Litchfield roads at about 12:20 p.m., Surprise Police Sgt. Jaime Rothschild said during a press conference.
Officers were called to a parking lot in the area after receiving a call of an unwanted guest, according to Rothschild.
When officers attempted to speak with Martin, who was in the back seat of a vehicle, he became argumentative and told police he had a gun, Rothschild said.

I love Star Wars, and this political climate must be what George Lucus felt during Vietnam and his frustration with the government. He had an educational outlet in creativity with script writing and later movie making. Imagine if more of US were given that opportunity.
Just like in war, you never know who could have invented and new cure or tech instead of dying for no reason other than Empire glory. I feel the same about education and immigration. You never know who could have invented what.

He was diagnosed with the condition, but not until 1994, five years after leaving office.
Reagan was 69 when he won his first presidential election. Trump was 70, making him the oldest person to be elected to the presidency (excluding Reagan's re-election at 73). Trump was given a clean bill of cognitive health in January 2018 by White House physician Dr. Ronny Jackson, who had tested him for cognitive impairment and said he had no concerns about the president's mental fitness.
Reagan's doctors said much the same thing while he was in office despite the former president's memory lapses and bouts of confusion in public, most visibly during the 1984 presidential debates and his 1990 Iran-Contra testimony. Incidents such as these led to speculation that he was undergoing a gradual mental decline that those around him didn't want to admit. A 1987 article in the New Republic posed the troubling question outright: "Is Reagan Senile?"
That was precisely what CBS News reporter Lesley Stahl was asking herself during a 1986 visit with a president she would later describe in her 2000 memoir, Reporting Live, as "shriveled" and verging on catatonic.
"Reagan didn't seem to know who I was," she wrote. "He gave me a distant look with those milky eyes and shook my hand weakly. Oh, my, he's gonzo, I thought." But a few minutes later, he snapped out of it and from that point on seemed perfectly fine. When asked, White House aides admitted to Stahl that they had witnessed similar episodes.

Sean Grayson harassed a drug addled woman and her husband; he was a tyrant officer before Sonya Massey. These are all of the incidents that I could locate for the months of “May, June, and July of 2024” pursuant to another’s FOIA request. That is not to say there are not any, but looking people up by name is the least effective way of locating incidents.
The file did make note of his two DUI convictions: in 2015 in Virden while he was enlisted in the Army and in 2016 in Girard, when he was arrested by a Macoupin County Sheriff's deputy. Grayson, who pleaded guilty in both cases, lost driving privileges for a year because of the second conviction.
Because of the mark on his cognitive assessment, the evaluation said, "it will take him longer to learn, process, and apply new material when compared to others."
It added that Grayson "knows he can move too fast at times. He needs to slow down to make good decisions." While he displayed "appropriate social skills," Grayson also appeared "fairly rigid and linear in his thinking. He likes structure and routine."
Grayson also received a few critical remarks on a series of scenarios at the Macon County Law Enforcement Training Center. Grayson was there for 16 weeks in 2023, a requirement for all new and lateral transfer deputies in the department.
By the time he applied to be a deputy at the Logan County Sheriff’s Office in March 2022, Grayson had four different policing jobs across Central Illinois: three part-time gigs and one full-time post. “My communication, people-centric nature, and compassion have afforded me excellent critical thinking skills,” Grayson wrote in his application.

Bodycam video reveals chaotic scene of deputy fatally shooting Sonya Massey, who called 911 for help
Weeks after the shooting, bodycam footage was released showing moments leading up to the former deputy shooting Massey.
Massey’s father James Wilburn, along with Pine Bluff’s NAACP chapter and city leaders expressed concerns over her death. Some of her family lives in Pine Bluff and organized a rally in hopes of getting Arkansas and Illinois state legislatures to put an end to immunity for law enforcement.
Pine Bluff leaders are urging Massey’s family receive the support they need in hopes that justice will soon be served.
“I demand action to obviously charge and arrest the former deputy, but I will tell you it does not diminish the anguish and grief that Mr. Wilburn, her father, and so many others including this community and the entire country,” Pine Bluff Sheriff Lafayette Woods said.

Woods said their fight for justice with the family will continue after Massey’s services are held.
Former deputy Sean Grayson is facing charges of first-degree murder, aggravated battery with a firearm and official misconduct in connection with Massey’s death. He pleaded not guilty to all charges and is scheduled to make another court appearance in August.
