The Jetlagged Underwater Films & Ocean Adventures
We live underwater (Biorock Coral Reef Restoration / Artificial Reef)
updated
Synopsis:
Rumor has it that some fishermen in Indonesia have a very special relationship with giants of the sea. To find out more, a team of underwater filmmakers and photographers steps off the beaten path. They take their cameras on a journey deep into an almost unknown region in Indonesia to discover a newly discovered whale shark population.
They get up close and personal with the whale sharks underwater, and tell a rare story of peaceful coexistence between humans and sharks – a story that we can take something away from.

Big thanks to our friends Manta Dive Gili Trawangan and Lima Bintang for composing a song and putting this amazing Christmas music video together! 🎸
We wish you all a Wonderful Christmas 🎄
Lyrics:
Christmas time has come to the island.
No chance of any snow falling from the sky.
No hot cocoa. No stockings hung up.
Who needs a fireplace living in this heat?
It's time for Christmas
and we know just what to do.
Take you down to Deep Shark Point
to brighten up your mood.
Christmas on Gili.
It's pure excitement.
Grab masks and BCDs.
Let's go for a dive.
Christmas on Gill.
We love it so much.
Presents from Manta Claus
sat under the tree.
We are in the spirit and
we spread our Christmas cheer
and wish you all safe holidays
and a wonderful new year.
Christmas on gili
with all the nightlife.
Spend the day watching fish.
Dance the night away.
Christmas on gili.
When we're done diving,
there is a cold bintang
at the Irish bar.

Episode 1 - Fish with Superpowers - The Clownfish and the Shark
In the sea, there are many animals with real superpowers. Some fish even have unique abilities. The shark, for example, can smell 10,000 times better than humans. And the clownfish rubs itself with anemone slime, which is poisonous to all other fish, for protection! But that's not all - in this film, The Jetlagged show you what else makes sharks and clownfish so special!.
In a few places on this planet, volcanic hot springs are within the reach of scuba divers. Like the ones in the deep sea, they are an important habitat and attract a universe of marine life, often highly camouflaged or extremely tiny. Dive into a world of fish that look like sponges, crabs that decorate themselves with anemones, mysterious ornate ghost pipefish and more critters of the deep.
All of the footage in this short film has been filmed around a hot spring in Sulawesi, Indonesia.

The environmental consequences, on land and in our oceans, are severe and undeniable. Even though the world is slowly waking up to the problem, the global volume of plastic waste continues to grow every year.
Frequently, trash gets disposed in the environment, in rivers and in the ocean, where animals get entangled or die from eating plastic. Over the years, the plastic breaks up into smaller and pieces, which accumulate toxins and can persist for up to 1,000 years before fully disintegrating. Plastic particles and micro-plastics make their way into food chains and our water supply – and thus into our bodies.
With this film experience, The Jetlagged and Plastic Pollution Coalition want to show our addiction to plastics and raise awareness about the impact plastic waste has on the local and global environment. By immersing the viewer in environments that are heavily affected by plastic trash, the filmmakers want to challenge the viewers to rethink their plastic consumption and eventually change their behavior. Pristine environments which are not affected by plastic pollution YET contrast the pollution, igniting the desire to protect our planet and inspire the viewer to spread the word about the problem with plastic and the solutions to people in their own communities.

The original "Pasewalk" was a minesweeper built in the 1960’s in former East Germany. After the reunification, she was sold to Malta, where she was renamed "P31" and used as a patrol boat. In 2009, the 52 m long boat was sunk in the crystal clear waters off Comino, where she sits upright on sand in a depth of 18 m. She is definitely one of the most photogenic wrecks. Come with us and explore!
Wunderpus Liveaboard offers you the chance to explore the beautiful Komodo National Park in style and comfort with options to suit all budgets. Mimic is Wunderpus Liveaboard's smaller budget liveaboard operating in Komodo, Indonesia. It is available for trips or private charters of up to 6 days/5 nights for divers, snorkelers or people just wanting to explore this beautiful area.
One thing is sure - You will never forget your adventure in Komodo!

To help save sea turtles, marine conservation facilities around the world hatch sea turtle eggs and keep the hatchlings in tanks until they have grown stronger and more fit for a survival in the wild.
The Jetlagged's short film "Fragile" talks with sea turtle conservationist Siân Williams of the Gili Eco Trust, who explains why baby sea turtles need the sea immediately after they hatched out of their nests and why it is best to let nature take care of them.
Join us on a journey through the Coral Triangle and its magnificent coral reefs. These underwater gardens have the largest biodiversity of life on Earth and can only be compared to tropical rainforests.
But as the planet keeps warming, our oceans are changing. Coral bleaching, ocean acidification, overfishing and pollution are threatening the world’s coral reefs and their fragile ecosystems.
Our oceans and its reefs must be protected now for the benefit of future generations and the health of our blue planet.

The Jetlagged accompany manta ray researcher Elitza Germanov (Marine Megafauna Foundation) on a field trip in Komodo in Indonesia. Manta ray numbers are declining because their gills have recently become a dubious trend in Traditional Chinese Medicine. Numerous conservation efforts are taking place to protect the gentle ocean giants, including “Citizen Science” projects to identify individuals by their unique spot patterns on their bellies. The filmmakers document the efforts of scientists and conservationists in Indonesia like Elitza Germanov and Sarah Lewis (Indonesian Manta Project/Manta Trust), who are working tirelessly to save these beautiful animals from extinction.

Coral bleaching is one of the major threats to existing coral reefs. Global mass bleaching events have taken place in 1998, 2010 and 2014 – 2016 (probably lasting well into 2017). If global warming is not stalled, such events will increase in frequency and intensity all over the world with a devastating effect on coral reefs worldwide - these fragile ecological communities may be gone within this century. Losing reefs would have grave consequences for the marine biodiversity and a widespread cascade effect on other ecosystems – on land as well.
The Jetlagged came across severe coral bleaching within the Coral Triangle in 2016. They witnessed healthy reefs they have dived for years fading and dying. Utterly shocked, they felt the urge to document and show the world the eerie sight of pale corals and white reefs and explain why this was happening.
With it, comes a personally emotional and strong appeal: we still have time to save the reefs – but we have to change the way we treat our world immediately.
