This all started back in January of this year. Bodies came on the radio while I was at work and out of nowhere, the mental image of Mio/Yuuko screaming in sync with the screaming in the song just popped into my head. I cracked up at the thought and was still amused by the mental image days later, so I thought "Ok, I need to make a video of this." Fast forward to May after having taken some time off from editing, I finally decided to sit down and edit the idea. I pretty quickly realized the video just wasn't gelling; the pacing felt like a mismatch, didn't have the impact I was hoping for, footage was stretched a bit thin, etc. etc. With a heavy heart, I decided to can the project, even if that original mental image still amused me so.
Fast forward again, this time to early July. Out of the blue and having no idea about my video idea, my friend forma (youtube.com/c/FormaThought) links me the recently posted Kids' Version of Bodies. Immediately after watching, the gears in my head started spinning "This is it! This is what was missing from my idea." At this point, I had started editing something else and decided to wait until I finished that before editing this video. But time kind of dragged on and it started getting within 2 months of AWA Pro's deadline and being I thought this would be a better fit for Pro, I switched over to this video. Overall, I took a leisurely pace with editing this and really enjoyed the process. Perhaps a bit too leisurely, since I cut it much closer to the deadline than I wanted to and wound up spending the two weeks before the deadline just doing tons of masking. So this video turned out to be quite the journey, but I'm very pleased with how it all turned out.
Oh and one more thing, the kids version of Bodies can be found at youtube.com/watch?v=Uk18bFIgOS4. You should check them out, they do some great stuff!

For those who've never heard of the movie, it's a late 80s B-horror comedy cult classic about a guy who wakes up to find alien parasyte attached to him which secretes hallucinogenic chemicals in order to force him to kill people, so the parasyte can then eat their brains. Probably sounds gross, but it's a fun film. Anyhow, I thought to myself that it'd probably make for a fun trailer (and I hadn't even watched the series at that point) and wrote it down in my collection of video ideas.
Cut to early 2023. I had spent most of 2022 feeling particularly uninspired, unmotivated, and frankly, burnt out on amv editing (and it probably shows in the videos I made that year and maybe even the year before that). After spending months not even touching Premiere, I started to get the itch to edit again. But I thought to myself, if I'm going to edit again, I want it to be fun and enjoyable to edit; something I feel excited about. So I wracked my brain for some time and the idea I kept coming to was the Brain Damage/Parasyte trailer. Initially I was a bit hesitant as the last video I'd made was a trailer and I'm usually not fond of doing the same thing twice in a row, but the concept seemed fun and I was motivated to try it; so I went for it. And, admittedly, for the first time in a very long while, it felt really fun to edit an amv. I really enjoyed the process this time around. Anyhow, if you've read this far, I really hope that came through in the video and that you enjoyed watching it.

I'd only seen the 1st two seasons, but knew Erina's mom showed up at some point; which would be fun to play off of. A year later I still hadn't watched any of the remaining seasons, but decided to go for it anyhow. Since such a large percentage of the original trailer was motion typography, I decided to spend some time and make sure my parody of it was really clean and add some more flare to it. I'm really happy with how the ending image it came out; took a surprising amount of time to make (I'll need to find another use for it somewhere down the road). Oh, one other note, the version streaming here is a little different then the downloadable/con version (linked below); originally the background for the text was a moving gradient, but it didn't play nice with youtube's compression, so I made it a flat color for streaming.

Nothing [Evangelion AMV]drewaconclusion2022-05-13 | Anyone else get major End of Eva vibes from the ending of Hilda S2E05? Seriously, as soon as the final shot of the episode came on, my mind instantly thought of the finale of End of Eva. From that moment on, I knew I had to make this video. I tried to channel a lot pandemic isolation vibes into this; I hope that comes through.
Blades is an obscure movie about a killer lawnmower (if you haven't seen it, you should, it's hilariously bonkers). So back in late September I was watching it for the first time and throughout the movie there were numerous scenes of crowds of people running away from the lawnmower. Every time one came up, all I could think of was the Benny Hill theme (Yakety Sax) and by the time the credits rolled, I was like "Ok, I *have* to put all these running scenes to Yakety Sax." I thought it'd be a fun video to post on Halloween, so about two/three weeks beforehand, I started making the video thinking it'd be a pretty quick edit. Well, I kind of got bogged down getting Drowning in the Kiddie Pool ready for release and then went on break just before Halloween, so I wound up kicking the can down the road and missed getting it out on Halloween (obviously, since I'm now posting this in December). Anyhoo, I hope you get a kick out of the video!
The thought for this popped into my while watching Space Dandy for the first time and struck me pretty funny. The sources just seemed made for each other, so I had to make this. Enjoy!Language!! This is one of those source pairings that once it enters your head, you're like "this has to happen!" I don't remember when I actually got the idea for it, something like 2 or 3 years ago. I really wanted to make it when the idea first struck me, but decided to hold off until after Endgame came out so I'd have as much Captain America footage as possible. Originally I was going to make this for AWA Pro 2019; but by the time I had all the source together and had time to edit, it was too close to the deadline and I didn't want to rush it (I don't find editing under a time crunch to be particularly fun). So I decided to kick the idea down the road for AWA Pro 2020. After taking a break from editing after making Hellsing Eternal, I sat down and made this over the course of Sept./Oct.Hellsing Eternal [AWA Pro 2020 Best Trailer]drewaconclusion2020-12-21 | Footage: Hellsing Ultimate Audio: Doom Eternal "Launch Trailer audio" Download Links: [1080p]: http://drewaconclusion.com/amvs/drewaconclusion%20-%20Hellsing%20Eternal%20%5b1080p%5d.mp4 [720p]: http://drewaconclusion.com/amvs/drewaconclusion%20-%20Hellsing%20Eternal%20%5b720p%5d.mp4
Back when I was making my way through Doom Eternal, I found myself rewatching the trailers for it quite a bit (I thought they were fantastic trailers). At some point, the thought struck me that there were a number of parallels between Alucard and the Doom Slayer (particularly in how he's portrayed in the trailers) and thought it'd be a lot of fun to make a trailer using Hellsing Ultimate. Wound up making it over the summer and decided to shelve it for AWA Pro when/if that happened so I wouldn't have to rush to make something if there was a surprise deadline. Turns out AWA Pro got delayed to late Nov. This video came about from brainstorming ideas for Anime North's challenge category for this year. The challenge was to use a song from a musical. Not really being a particularly big fan of musicals, I had to brainstorm viable song/show combos over a couple of days. In the meanwhile, I wound up rewatching Anna and the Apocalypse (which if you haven't seen it, you should; it's hilarious). The scene with "Soldier at War" came on and I instantly had an "AH HA!" moment and thought of Highschool of the Dead. After a few more days of brainstorming, I felt this was not only the best idea I had for the challenge, but that this video needed to be made regardless of the challenge. I really liked the combo and got quite excited about it and set to work on it at the end of February.
I was nearing completion of the video near the end of March, when Anime North announced it was cancelled due to the COVID pandemic. Leave it to me to edit a zombie apocalypse video during the onset of a pandemic. Anyhow, the cancellation of Anime North really bummed me out, so I took about a two week break from editing this. At that point, I thought this really needed to be finished; so I wrapped it up in time for some later AMV contests that were still taking place. Despite the contest cancellation, I'm still really pleased to have made the video and had a blast editing it. Back in early 2018, I had the idea to pair up Gunsmith Cats & Riding Bean with one of the trailers for Baby Driver. I was almost going to make it right then and there, but then I got wind of the kickstarter for the Gunsmith Cats bluray. With an HD remaster coming down the pipeline in late 2019, it didn't make sense to edit the video with inferior source footage (the Gunsmith Cats DVD wasn't exactly the greatest quality). Cut to January 2020, when the HD remaster finally ships out, I decided to rewatch Baby Driver to get myself in the mood to start editing. Going through the bonus features I came across the Mike Relm remix of Baby Driver and thought “Well this would be a lot more fun and exciting to edit than just the trailer.” So I switched mental gears and edited this instead. I may still edit the trailer somewhere down the road; but I want to edit some other things before I return to this concept, so we'll see. At any rate, this was one of the more fun videos I've edited in a long time and I think it shows. This was actually an idea I had 9 years ago, but didn't wind up making until this year. Back when the Hurley album came out, I was listening to this song and it struck me that it screamed to be made into a pokemon video. Though at the time, I didn't want to deal with all the source footage, so I put it on the backburner and then kind of forgot about it until earlier this year. Actually, it's probably a good thing I didn't make this video back then. I probably would have used Diglett or Wurmple instead of Grubbin for the earthworm part and I don't think either would have worked as well as Grubbin. Anyhow, I got thinking about old amv ideas one day and thought this would be a fun edit. So, after a lengthy period of time acquiring all the source footage (thanks to hamstar138 for helping me obtain some of it), I got to editing it. This was fun to edit, but man, trying to locate scenes of certain pokemon was a headache (thank heavens for bulbapedia). My aim was to try and make something as cute as possible. Judging by the comments from AWA Pro, I think I accomplished that. That said, I hope you enjoy the video!Ascension [The Last Guardian GMV] [2nd Place Connichi 2019 GMV]drewaconclusion2019-10-07 | Footage: The Last Guardian (PS4) Audio: Dean Valentine “Sharks Don't Sleep” Download links: [720p]: http://drewaconclusion.com/vgmvs/drewaconclusion%20-%20Ascension%20%5b720p%5d.mp4 [1080p]: http://drewaconclusion.com/vgmvs/drewaconclusion%20-%20Ascension%20%5b1080p%5d.mp4
After playing through The Last Guardian, back when it first came out, I had thought it would make for a good video. I wanted to pair with some kind of dramatic instrumental music to highlight the peril of Trico and boy's journey. Unfortunately, I couldn't think of any songs at the time that fit what I envisioned. So I shelved the idea.
Cut to earlier this year, I was listening to some instrumental trailer music and Dean Valentine's “Sharks Don't Sleep” (from the 1st Captain America: Civil War trailer) came up in the playlist. Halfway through the song, The Last Guardian idea popped back into my mind after not having thought about it in years. After listening to the song a few more times, I thought “yeah, this would really pair well.” and got really excited about the idea. It's kind of funny, I always liked the music in that Captain America trailer; so I'm not really sure why the thought hadn't occurred to me earlier to use it.
Anyhow, I played through the game twice in May, recording all the footage (using an Elgato HD60 Pro and my PS4) and then editing the video over the next two months. A few months out after editing it, I'm pretty happy with how it turned out.Bebe Doo, Where Are You! [Madoka Magica AMV]drewaconclusion2019-02-04 | It's kind of a funny story how I got the idea for this. Back in September, I was brainstorming goofy ideas and audio files I could use for the upcoming AMV Wars at Youmacon (I was up against SailorDeath). I got on the idea of using old tv show theme songs and started cycling them through my mind. I came to the Scooby Doo theme and had the sudden mental image of Bebe acting as Scooby Doo. I decided pretty quickly this was something that had to be done.
Originally I wanted to make this for Halloween, but I got busy with Youmacon, then the holidays, and then being sidetracked with a million different other things that I just kept putting off finishing it.

The concept was to make a Fantasia-like visual trip using Madoka Magica and the original Pink Elephants song. The idea came about from a conversation I had with hamstar138 back in February while she was trying to find new videos for her Disney AMV panel. After the conversation, I kept thinking about the combination and really loved the pairing, so I set my mind to make the video at some point this year. I let my thoughts about it gestate for a few months and at the end of May, I started editing it. As I started making it, I kind of let myself screw around with different ideas and be weird as I wanted with it. I wound up taking my time with it and was getting close to being done with it just before the AWA Pro deadline, so I decided to finish it for that contest.

Anyhow, this was an idea that popped into my head while watching the Crystal Lake Memories a few years back and I thought it'd be a fun thing to make for the AWA Pro contest this year. Admittedly, editing this was the most fun I've had editing in quite some time and I love how it turned out. While editing this, I also made an alternate cut that pushed it further into an R rating (basically a few shots of nudity). I won't be posting that cut directly to Youtube, however, there is a download link to it below.

After a few months of sporadic work on it, I made a major push to finish it during Feb.-April 2016; doing about 80-85% of the work on it during this period (and largely forsaking most of my other hobbies at the time). With it mostly done, I decided to shelve it for AWA Pro 2016 and came back to it, tweaking the effects, during Aug./Sept. 2016. I hadn't seen Gourmet Girl Graffiti before, so the exaggerated eating sequences instantly made Weird Al's "Eat It" come to mind. Coupled with seeing Mycathatesyou's "Fun Fun Yum Yum" in close proximity, the idea of doing a Food Wars/Gourmet Girl Graffiti video to Eat It was cemented in my head. So this is basically absurd lyric sync applied to misinterpreted lyrics of the Ducktales theme song in Finnish.
I've been wanting to do something of this style for a number of years now and for whatever reason felt inspired to try and make it for Anime Evolution 2015's contest. Problem was, I'd only set aside a week to make it and it wound up taking me significantly longer than that to track down the sources that'd actually fit the lyrics. I pressed on for a while and got it about 90% done and got distracted, leaving it unfinished.
Cut to just after the AWA Pro deadline passed and there was a week out to the Masters deadline. Figured "what the heck?" and finished it up for the Masters contest. I'd imagine it probably got interpreted as a troll entry. ~______~Spaced Out [Cat Planet Cuties AMV]drewaconclusion2016-01-07 | This was my entry for the Awesomecore contest (back in 2014).
I've been wanting to make a parody of the original commercial for almost two years now. It wasn't until a few months later that it occurred to me to use the principal from To Love-Ru.

I took more of a "d'aawwwwww" approach to editing it than a comedic one. This was one of my entries into this year's AWA Pro Contest; where it won Best Comedy.
Essentially, this is a comedic character profile of the character Aikuro from Kill La Kill. This video came about the day after discussing the character Aikuro with my friend Stephanie (who's obsessed with him). I was at work and had the bassline from Right Said Fred's "I'm Too Sexy" stuck in my head, although I couldn't remember what the song was at the time. About an hour later it dawned on me what the song was and I immediately put the song together with Aikuro in my head, thinking I had to make this video. The combination seemed to fit too well not to. While we were watching a few episodes, he mentioned the idea that it'd be neat if I made a video using Gigantor. I agreed and told him I'd make one as soon as I found audio that I felt fit the show. I immediately began looking around for a song, but didn't really dig up anything that wasn't overused, so I put the video idea on the back burner. Cut to a few months ago, I came across this remix of Feuer Frei and thought it was just what I was looking for audio-wise.
I started editing this back in June/July, but got sidetracked, put it down and wound up making another video during that time. I picked it back up in late August with the intention of sending it over to AWA, but I didn't wind up finishing it in time. I wound up getting it finished mid-September, which worked out nicely so that I could be there for its premiere at AAC.
This video started off as a request from my friend Chaz to use the song in some fashion. I mulled on the song for a few months with the concept of the video going through a number of changes; namely in what sources I'd use (from a multi-vampire source approach then to just Hellsing and later to Nyanpire). But then it struck me that Krauser from Detroit Metal City was the perfect match for the count look and the absurdity of the song. The video just kind of took off from there and I love how it turned out.
