The most famous Archie was Bob Hastings (1925-2014) was also played Superboy in animation in the 1960s, and was memorable for 1990s to 2000s kids as Commissioner Gordon for the various Batman animated series and video games. Also I want to highlight more unique "A Christmas Carol" adaptations. In this episode Dagwood falls asleep and dreams that his boss Mr. Dithers is Ebenezer Scrooge.The first few Blondie movies from Columbia Pictures in 1938 and 1939 were so successful that a radio series was launched with its stars Penny Singleton and Arthur Lake. Lionel Barrymore was supposed to play the part as he had annually (he would resume in 1939 and until 1951) but Welles filled in the part on radio for this broadcast. After scaring millions (?) into believe there was a Martian Invasion on October 30, 1938, "The Mercury Theater of the Air" secured Campbell's Soups as a sponsor and became "The Campbell Playhouse".

Instead of the movie Snow White, Adrianna Caselotti, the princess was played by Thelma Hubbard (a.k.a. Thelma Boardman). Childrens Media Archive 2022-04-30 | This video was edited from a movie file found in the Internet Archive's 35mm Stock Footage Collection that was digitized by A/V Geeks. It is used here with the Creative Commons agreement granted by the Internet Archive. The exact date of the film is unknown but likely from 1923 - 1926.Uncle John Daggett (1878-1945) was the beloved host of the KHJ Children's Hour (Los Angeles, California) which featured a number of radio and Hollywood movie child stars. The most famous of these children was Helene Pirie (1916-1988) who played "Queen Titania" "The Fairy Queen of the Microphone" in the "Fairyland" segments. Her father Oliver Garrison Pirie was "The Sandman". All three can be seen together in this film for a few seconds. Among the identified children in this footage are child star Richard Headrick (1917-2001), and "Sunny" Jane Hughes. His adventure series began September 10, 1935, and aired in three versions until 1938. Of 204 episodes, only 20 reportedly exist today, with just 4 of those episodes circulating the internet. In the first season, Olive Oyl (Olive Maloy) and Wimpy (Charles Lawrence) are heard with a young boy named Matey (Jimmy Donnelly) a character possibly created as a substitute for SweePea who couldn't talk. Since the sponsor was Wheatena a hot cereal, Popeye needed a nourishing bowl of it for super strength instead of spinach. If you can take that in, the program is still a lot of fun. "Popeye Meets the Giant". c. 1936. Sponsor: Wheatena. This episode could also be called "Popeye and the Beanstalk".**Some sources claim this episode was broadcast Thursday, November 23, 1936. Adventures of Ace Williams [Radio Series] - Duel with Don Carlos Domingo c. 1936-38 Childrens Media Archive 2021-10-30 | "The Recorded Adventures of Ace Williams" was a juvenile adventure serial that was syndicated to radio stations from 1936 to 1938. The title character was a British newsreel cameraman who traveled throughout Europe with two teen companions, Dick Holt and Jane Parsons, with a comical sidekick. The series announcer was Edward Burke. "Ace Williams" was promoted as being "thrilling" and "educational". Unfortunately, only 2 episodes are currently circulating today. The extra long intro music was a syndication practice where a local sponsor (most likely a bakery) could insert a commercial. As you listen just pretend your favorite snack, cereal or soda is doing a vintage ad for the show.

This episode does not have an NBC opening or closing, and Miss Frances appears to be older than some remember. That is because after her initial NBC run, Miss Frances had a syndicated version of Ding Dong School.
