I made this short film to see if I could humanize inanimate objects and convey an emotional story wordlessly.
Featuring music by Daft Punk, this short film was originally shot and edited in 2012 for a school project using the only equipment I had available at the time. It never felt quite right, so I didn't publish it, but I've finally gone back and re-edited it with new music and better pacing.
Wonder Mountain's Guardian is a 4D interactive dark ride - coaster combination built at Canada's premiere themed amusement park, Canada's Wonderland. Developed by Triotech Amusements, ART engineering, Kubes Steel, Richmond Welding and Iron Works, and Canada's Wonderland, owned and operated by Cedar Fair Entertainment.
Originally released in 2015 for a University project, this re-uploaded version features enhanced audio and transitions.

A few other notes on the film:
- I chose not to have dialogue in the film partly due to the lack of audio equipment available to me during the production, and partly due to my admiration for Pixar short films that convey powerful stories wordlessly.
- I shot this on 8mm tape because that's all I had available at the time, but I feel the grainy quality of the image actually helps the film in many ways.
- The cell phone you see me use in the film is my current cell phone, despite its age.
- Although I did have a tripod at one point, it went missing around the time my ex-fiancee left, along with several other items I owned. As such, I improvised using a work-light stand whenever possible, however this was apparently not nearly as stable.
- I sat up in the rafters for a few shots that ended up in the film, since the ceiling of the room we were renovating was all opened up anyway.
- There's one shot that I do not appear in, but due to some clever editing, it may appear that I am (since I was up in the rafters, but I am in the surrounding shots).
- I did have surgery for my hyperparathyroidism, however I now seem to be suffering from something else; the doctors are still trying to figure out what exactly.
Originally edited without dialogue, this short film was made to be a horror genre piece. Now re-edited with dialogue, it may not be quite so frightening.
