It’s Dashm Patshah ji’s birth anniversary and we at DRecords are in full gusto to celebrate the Prakash Gurpurab with our latest release “Har Sachae Takht Rachaya”, sung and composed with immense feelings of love and gratitude by Indian Pop Icon, Daler Mehndi.

“I sing Gurbani because that satiates my inner voice. I honour my calling by singing Gurbani, Bhajans, Sufi songs, Ghazals which are food for soul. As a child I wanted to be a very big Ragi but destiny had other plans and I ended up being a Pop singer performer. Gubani anchors me and my go to for any and every situation, good or bad. Infact my initial music training was also at the Gurdwara Sahab singing shabads, learning from my scholarly parents.
I try to release a Gurbani album for every Gurpurab,” Daler Mehndi.

The composition is simple, sing along like we sing during Prabhat Pheri’s while celebrating the Gurpurab.

This shabad is a Var (a poetic expression) authored by Bhai Gurdas Ji 2, a revered sikh scholar and poet in the court of the tenth Guru, Sri Guru Gobind Singh Ji - describing the mankind’s biggest and unique spiritual event ‘an initiation ceremony’ that created a blue print of an ideal flawless human being, “The Khalsa”.

He euphorically writes in wonderment as he witnesses a never seen before phenomena where the Guru elevates the disciple to HIS level and then reverses the role by becoming their disciple. This event is one of its kind in the history of mankind where the Guru becomes the Chela (disciple) and the Chela (disciple ) is accepted by the Guru as the Guru, this is what Bhai Gurdas ji exclaims in wonderment, “Wah Wah Gobind Singh Aape Gur Chela” a super example of Oneness, of Detachment, of Empowerment, of Trust, of Surrender, of Inclusivity, of Expansiveness, of Fearlessness.

Bhai Gurdas substantiates Guru Nanak’s philosophy of freeing mankind of all bondages, boundaries, blockages by simply invoking one’s own Higher Self which is Divine, Wise, Calm, Happy, Creative, Content, All Powerful, All Pervasive, All Encompassing, All Inclusive, All Expansive, Healthy and Blessed at all times, now and always. HE demonstrated this throughout his life, however Bhai Gurdas refers to the instance of Guru Nanak’s discourse with the Siddhas who were rigid, powerful, loaded with tantras and mantras, the top clergy, the wise yogis, staying at the highest and difficult snow clad peaks, where HE made them see, feel and understand their non cognizant, shackles of falsehood, pride and FREED them from this falsehood.

Creating spirit born people through love and oneness that Guru Baba Nanak started was carried forward by the Guru’s and given its final form by the 10th Nanak, Guru Gobind Singh.
This true timeless throne of eternal truth is what Bhai Gurdas ji celebrated and we are celebrating as well.

Mehndi’s last Gurbani album was the unique Celestial Aarti which he released on Guru Nanak Jayanti, a first ever attempt by anyone in the prescribed Ragas. Mehndi has sung many Gurbani Shabads over the years, Salok Mehla 9, JapJi Sahib, Ananad Sahib, Kyon Na Har Ko Naam Le, Ustat Kar Kar Jeevan, Mere Raam, Celebrated Rajan Ke Raja, The Ik Onkar Mool Mantar.

Mehndi’s sufi catalogue, bhajans are equally impressive. He is indeed one of India’s rare singer who commands each genre with immense grace and control.

I was walking up the stairs to the mezzanine floor on Guru’s beloved home. My heart was flustered with sadness that day. As I climbed the stairs, instantaneously my heart, my teary eyes, my consciousness was held by the Shabad Wisdom, caressing my broken spirit, collecting me piece by piece.

I don’t remember what incident had broken me that day but I am in deep deep gratitude to Patshah ji for both that incident and the cajoling, the hand holding, for bringing to my consciousness – the Shabad Wisdom “Jeon Janau Teon Raakh” I had never sung or read the Shabad before that day.

I entered the small lovely abode which could barely inhabit 7 or 8 bodies. Drenched in this love and in the know that I am being held by my Guru…
I sat for the Haazri, eyes closed, hands on the Vaja… note by note this composition poured out.

My Patshah ji’s gift to me that day which collected my broken spirits and made me whole.

Sharing with you all my blessings and bliss on this day.

Amidst and in acknowledgment of all the corruption, intoxication, attachment a soul encounters and gets entangled in it, there a part of it that still recognises the infinite wisdom. Patshah Sri Guru Arjan Sahib ji describes its abject state, the denial, the cheatings, the sedimented state of slumber, of unconsciousness and writes a prayer of surrender, of hope, of mercy.

About the Shabad
A melodious composition of a soul in awakening, this yearning prayer, ardas authored as a Chhant (a poetic format) on 740 Ang of Sri Guru Granth Sahib is composed by Taran Mehndi, an architect, film maker, an author and a seeker.
On the martyrdom day of Sri Guru Arjan Dev ji, the singer released a teaser. Full shabad will be available across all platforms on .

The singer has to her credit an album titled Mayee Ree, featuring her 7 year old daughter Rabab and her celebrated husband Daler Mehndi.
Last year, Taran Mehndi had produced, directed and sung Loka Samastha, an album on collective consciousness about freedom from biases of genders, age, stereo typing, religion, society stigmas et el. In her directorial debut, she casted 13 characters aged 6 – 73 all facing the camera for the first time. She thoroughly believes music, art, theatre have the power to bring in behaviour change and create much needed attitude of oneness. Kaur has an extensive body of work on Mental Health, videos and songs on leading and living a stress free life for WHO with Voyce.

May 2022: The world has grooved to the upbeat, peppy tunes of Daler Mehndi, the undisputed king of pop, but little do people know that it was his mother who saw the music dream for her son, even before he was born. Mehndi, who is as devout a son as he is a singer, has released a new single titled ‘Ni Maa’ this month to pay tribute to the selfless contributions of his late mother Bibi Biro. The Song is a tell-tale where a child lays the burden of his/her perils on the mother.

The song composition is par excellence once again showcasing the musical, vocal prowess of the legendary singer composer. In the video
he is seen playing the harmonium in the six-minute song. Mehndi’s poignant ode to all mothers also includes visuals of Mother Nature and her many moods.
“The music video is released on my YouTube channel, and acknowledges all the inspiring, sacrificing and hardworking supermoms across the world. Moms do so much for us, and the least I could do is sing in their honour. The notes of the song are very close to my heart and I loved the way the composition came out,” says Daler Mehndi.

He adds that even today, no work begins without seeking blessings from his late mother.

Mehndi shares that his debut song Bolo Ta Ra Ra, its first Phrase was given to him by his mother, who used to humm these folk lines which she had heard from her elders.

D Records 2022-04-23 | DRecords launches the second track 'Kadi Aa Mil Yaar Pyarea' under its Jewels of Music initiative.

New Delhi: Leading Indian music label Drecords International has released a new track under its Jewels of Music initiative, titled Kadi Aa Mil Yaar Pyarea, with the lyrics of Baba Bulle Shah beautifully brought to life in the heart-warming and melodious voices of father-son singer duo Late Ustaad Imtiaz Ali Khan and Shahzad Ali Khan. The soulful six-minute track is available to listen on Spotify, Gaana, Saavn, Hungama, Wynk Music, Itunes, Amazon Music and all leading platforms.

DRecords’ Jewels of Music album is a continuous endeavor to bring forth musicians and artists who have honed to perfection a style of singing or playing an instrument, which is unique, raw, rich and powerful. With this one-of-a-kind initiative, the music label wants to shine the spotlight on artists, musicians alike who have accompanied big stars and have somehow just managed to be heard and known in their niche circuits.

“At DRecords, through this Project ‘Jewels of Music’, we find sparkles lying scattered and thread them together by releasing their albums, showcasing their unique talent to the world. The track is composed by Imtiaz Ali and Riaz Ali, with the late Babloo Kumar as its Music Arranger

Previously, the label released a song by Sugan Devi Gandharv, a 62-year-old bhajan singer from Madhya Pradesh’s remote town Mandsaur, who sang the Sufi staple Dama Dum Mast Kalandar in her sweet raw voice for this project.

Sajjan De Hath Bahn from the same album features Taran Mehndi in the video and has received immense love.

Next in line is an album as an ode to India’s best classical Harmonium Player., Ustad Bhure Khan Sahab.. a very beloved project produced by Indian Pop Icon Daler Mehndi

Sham Chaurasi Gharana - Sham Chaurasi Gharana is a gharana (a family's style of singing) in Hindustani Classical Music known for the singing of vocal duets. It is also known as the cradle of Drupad. It is one of the four singing gharanas of Punjab; the other three are: Patiala, Talwandi and Kapurthala. It is most notably represented in modern times by the brothers Nazakat and Salamat Ali Khan.

Yaman emerged from the parent musical scale of Kalyan. Considered to be one of the most fundamental ragas in Hndustani tradition, it is thus often one of the first ragas taught to students.

Before Pakistan they were living in Sham Chaurasi Village in Punjab
Shahzad Ali Khan is biggest son of Imtiaz Ali Khan, Shahzad Ali Khan was born on 11th Feb 1975 in Pakistan. He have also sung in Kalandaree Berah.

He shifted Europe in 2007 in Holland and working as a Music Teacher in Holland.
He have learned singing from his Father – Ustad Imtiaz Ali Khan Ji and his Chacha jaan Ustad Raiz Ali Khan Ji

He have performed in all over Europe – Spain – France and many Pakistani festivals.
It was dubbed in Between 2001- 2005

It sounds cliché’ but the talent I am looking for will beabove the age of 40.

Tibetan bowls and bells, guitars, sounds of nature create the perfect meditative aura. The vocal design of the Buddhist Lotus Sutra ‘Nam Myoho Renge Kyo’ by Taran Mehndi gives the song a perfect sonic ambient backdrop.

The song has t let me sleep and the visuals have not let left me one bit... I have never experienced such brilliant clarity nourished in passion!
Everyone brought their oneness to the video and it is what iit is because of each one of them.

Taran Mehndi debuts as a Video Director. She has casted 13 characters, aged 7 to 70, all debuting as actors in the video. Each one has magnificently portrayed situations from life, emoting pride, anger and situations that we all get entangled sometime in life, like rituals, some in distress, some in fear, yearning to be included without judgements in the society, but true liberation happens when we empower ourselves, take decisions to deliberately sow happiness. The old lady depicts Wisdom. The healing occurs when we acknowledge our own selves just the way we are, looking within and drop looking outwards.

The sutra chant in the background evokes a feeling of being constantly reminded of adhering to the Mystic law of the Universe that of deliberately sowing good feelings which leads to happiness and freedom. Divinity will surface sooner or later. The Knock Knocks (of sadness, hurts etc) in our lives are opportunities to see what feelings we are sowing, opportunities to look within and shift focus.

The track grows on you, by the second and third listen, the chant resonates on auto mode, even when the song is switched off.

Instead, he gifted us a chant. This is his response, "The whole of 2020 was shocking at first and then mesmerizingly beautiful, stalling everything and everyone with full force to STOP and REFLECT. My offering to the world to start 2021 with, will be Guru Nanak Dev ji's gift to the world. Ik Onkar. The mool, the root, the clear stark TRUTH of oneness, which has been my constant source of upliftment, calmness, centeredness throughout my life and especially the last year. I start 2021 with this powerful gift from Guru Nanak Sahab of ONENESS to myself, my children and this world. Onkar is the source of all existence and the numeric IK is a proclamation intended to stop all wanderings of the mind to align, center and understand that there is but only one, there is no other. It is the ulterior goal and purpose of each one of us to become that - ONE by not renouncing but accepting and by being inclusive. In our everyday lives operating out of this ONENESS is a gift, a practice at which we fail miserably at most occasions and a few lucky ones intermittently get toexperience this Ik or Oneness whilst pursuing their passion. This is the Karta Purakh (The Pervasive Creator ) attribute of the IK Onkar of that 1 Force, that 1 Energy or Divine which in our existence we experience by cultivating a creative response. The track is composed by Daler Mehndi, easy to sing along and grows on you. The video is equally special, DRecords collaborated with Art Heritage of S. Sohan Singh Artist Memorial Trust, Amritsarand thank them for permitting the use of rare pictures of the wall paintings unfolding the life of Guru Nanak Sahab. These are exclusive paintings photographed at the Gurdwara Atal Rai, by the esteemed graphic artist, the Late Surinder Singh and published in an exquisite book Janam Sakhi. All these paintings are destroyed over the years by ill keep of the Gurdwara Sahab.

The mool mantar has been explained by thinkers and philosophers like Acharya Vinoba Bhave, Osho, Khushwant Singh, Prof Puran Singh, Bhai Vir Singh and many great minds over the years, but we needed simpler action oriented experience of the Ik Onkar, which was facilitated by SikhRi. We approached Inni Kaur, Creative Director at Sikh Research Institute, USA, for the Shabad wisdom. We extend our deep gratitude to SikhRi for permitting us to use their content. The video has explanations that guide us to incorporate IKONKAR in our daily life. The explanations are courtesy SIkhRi (Sikh Research Institute) - a great resource and institute for anyone who is seeking to develop an understanding of the Shabad Guru.

D Records 2020-11-29 | Bhai Gurdas ji describes the time of Guru Nanak's arrival in Kaliyug in his var.
The revolutionary thought provoking Guru, world's most travelled man, farmer, family man, singer, poet, ONE who laid the foundation of Oneness, 1 Force, reaching to all mankind showcasing inclusiveness and expansiveness - GURU NANAK DEV JI lived by how to lead a life drenched in love, awareness, consciousness.

The central idea the Shabad is the verse "Kal Taran Guru Nanak Aaya" - The famous Bhai Gurdas Ji's vaar proclaiming & announcing to the world that the Guru has arrived to help sail across the dark times of the Kaliyug.

Daler Mehndi composed the vaar in a simple catchy tune, for a sing along Parbhat Feri tradition, such that the sangat can sing easily, inermittently one can hear signature ad-lib classical nuances coming in gracefully to substantiate the phrase of the shabad.
The original track is 18 minutes long with pramaans (referential shabads by the Guru Sahabs from Sri Guru Granth Sahib) and was composed for the 550 Gurpurab Celebrations that were held last year in Bilaspur. It was humbling to see 300,000 sangat gather at the wee hours of morning, some with their infants and others with the aged, enthusiastically singing Patshah ji's Bani and celebrating Guru Nanak.
