Demna's second Balenciaga Haute Couture collection saw a moving away from exclusively paying homage to the brand's founder Cristobal Balenciaga, but through it, he has expanded on Balenciaga's original works for a modern age. The most controversial aspect pf the show was having celebrities like Dua Lipa, Kim Kardashian, Nicole Kidman, & Christine Quinn walk down the runway which was seen as tacky and gauche. And to a degree, I agree, but I think there is a deeper business reason for doing it.

HauteLeMode 2022-07-19 | The Dior Haute Couture collection by Maria Grazia Chirui was surprisingly good. Collaborating with Olesia Trofymenko, a Ukrainian artist, on her "Tree of Life" graphics was an intelligent way to incorporate her usual artist collaborations with something more serious. She referenced a lot of Ukrainian folk clothing, and did so pretty well, giving the homely embroidery the Parisian touch. While she still lacked the exaggerated proportions of Christian Dior, which is always a letdown, the collection fared quite well for one of the first times.

The collection titled "Born Again" was a take on the way fashion is criticized for being "silly" and also was a display of beautiful things being made just because they are beautiful things without apologizing for it. Elsa Schiaparelli references were found throughout from nods to collaborations with artist Jean Cocteau, famous headwear, and even her love of flowers. Roseberry also referenced designers like Alexander McQueen and Yves Saint Laurent who actively for inspiration in Schiaparelli's work as well.
