Cheers!Illuminate Down Hoodie Jacket Review | Outdoor ResearchOutdoor Therapy2020-11-23 | Wondering if the illuminate down hoodie jacket is for your? Is it gonna fit you? what are it's features? This is a review of one of the lightest down jacket from Outdoor Research.
I really appreciate the Illuminate down hoodie as a mid layer for most activity during winter. But this is not a sells pitch. I want you to really think about the quality and needs you are looking for in a down jacket and then make your own choice. There's a lot of option out there. Some more expensive, some less. One thing is for sure though, no matter the brand...Using the layering system in conjunction with a down jacket is the way to go in winter time.

Starting at acces point 6 (Smoke Lake) we went trough Kootchie Lake, Sheriff pond, Litles island lake, Cache Lake, Head Lake, Harness Lake (spent are first night on an island there) Pardee Lake, Kirkood Lake, Phipps Lake, Bonnachère Lake, Big Porcupine lake (we had our second camp site there) Ragged Lake and back to Smoke Lake
It's a really nice loop that I belive even a beginner crew could do. We did it in 3 days, but you could take your time and do less portage everyday and stay there for 5 days.
There is a total of 15 portages in this loop. The biggest portage is about 1500m and the smallest one is 60m. Most of them our about 400m and well maintained.

www.Outdoor-Therapy.comTarp Tent Shelter | Tutorial | pros and consOutdoor Therapy2020-11-04 | Fall and winter are awesome seasons to do a tarp tent shelter. In this video, I'll go through the pros and cons, I will also share a tutorial on how to build it and lastly I'll give you some pro tips to really enjoy the most of it.
If you are looking for a shelter that will give almost 360 degrees of protection a strong protection against wind, rain and snow while keeping a lot of warmness, look no further you are at the right place.
Faire warning, this is not the easiest setup to do especially in windy condition. I strongly suggest that you learn some sliding knots before attempting to build the tarp tent shelter. Also I would recommend that you try to make it at home before your next outing. It’s not that it’s ‘’complicated’’ but it’s a good habit to have before a trip. That way you exactly know what you’re doing in the backcountry.
I would really appreciate if you tell me in the comment section if this tutorial helps you!

The second you don't have a base camp and you need to make a lot of distance, weight becomes an issue and options for food especially breakfast are less and less optimal. Dehydrated meals from the local shop are expensive. Eggs and bacon taste amazing, but they are heavy and difficult to manage on long trips.
So I figured I would share the qualities I'm looking for in my breakfast and share the solution that I found.

This is a perfect route for beginners. It's about 36km long with a total of 1000 m of portage. The nice thing is that they are all very small one. It is therefor very easy to dual or even triple carry.
On this particular trip I was joined by my good friend Marty from Père extrême as well as his buddy Julian. They both brought they young kids! I loved it, it shows that you can go camping in the wild with your children and you can start them young!
This time I elected to use my sit on top kayak instead of a canoe. It has a lot of cargo space in the back and two hatches. It's really not made to do portages as it is large and really heavy. It's main purpose is really fishing. But I do love to push my equipment to it's limit! I also choose to not bring a tent or a hammock but a tarp instead.
If you want more details about this trip, I will right a full blog with our route camp site and mores details. It will all be available on www.outdoor-therapy.com
