I’m proud to be Canadian - and I’m NOT apologizing for it.
In this episode of Canada Off Script, Randall Arsenault, known as Officer Arsenault, tackles a growing and controversial topic: why proudly flying the Canadian flag is suddenly seen by some as “too much.” From people calling patriotism a problem to critics labeling flag-flyers as extremists, Randall pushes back and asks - when did being proud of Canada become something to apologize for?
As a former police officer who’s lived across the country, Randall shares his perspective on Canadian identity, national pride, and the importance of reclaiming what the maple leaf flag truly represents: unity, freedom, kindness, and resilience.
Whether you fly your flag from your truck, porch, or podcast set, this video is a reminder that loving your country doesn’t make you a bigot - it makes you Canadian. Randall has been packing the set with Canadian memorabilia, or else he would have had nothing but the Canadian flag as a backdrop - proudly.
Topics Covered:
Why patriotism and national pride are being stigmatized
The symbolism of the Canadian flag 🇨🇦
Why Western countries are ashamed of their flags
The rise of Canadian pride and supporting Canadian-made products
Why “the flag stays” behind Canada Off Script

In this powerful discussion, Randall Arsenault, known as Officer Arsenault, sits down with Ross McLean, aka @McLeanChronicle, a former cop, security specialist, and bodyguard to billionaires - to tackle one of the most urgent questions facing modern policing:
Should officers still be required to show their names and faces when they’re increasingly being doxxed and targeted online?
From facial recognition technology and social media exposure to officers being tracked and followed home, this conversation dives deep into the growing danger for police officers and their families in both Canada and the United States.
Ross and Randall share real stories from their policing careers, explain how privacy and accountability have changed over time, and debate whether the traditional name tag should be replaced with just an officer number in today’s world of AI surveillance, public databases, and online harassment.
Topics covered:
The rise of police doxxing and online targeting
Why social media and facial recognition have changed policing forever
How California’s new law could put officers at risk
Why some believe police should not live where they work
The balance between transparency, safety, and accountability
What happens when officers - and the public - are only seen through data

In this video, Randall Arsenault breaks down the uncomfortable truth about who really runs Canada - from unelected judges, the courts, central banks, bureaucrats, regulators, NGOs, and lobbyists - and why politicians quickly realize they’re just figureheads.
Drawing parallels with the UK and former prime ministers who admitted the same reality, Randall explains how Canada’s insurance industry, housing crisis, healthcare system, and interest rates are controlled by powerful forces outside of political office. Whether you support the Liberals, Conservatives, NDP, or any party - this message matters. If politicians can’t deliver on their promises, then who’s really running the country? And more importantly: what can we do about it?
Watch, comment, and share your thoughts. Are Canadians just voting to swap faces while the real power stays the same? Or can we demand real change?

Randall shares real stories from policing instructors and trainers about recruits dropping pistols on the range, looking for “batteries” in their firearms, and struggling behind the wheel of a police cruiser with minimal driving experience. Police training is supposed to prepare officers for life-or-death situations and high-stress driving - but are we setting them up to fail?
Officers in specialty Units such as the Emergency Task Force, K9, etc. certainly train more often. They worked hard to get into those positions and constant training is certainly part of their duties. This video mostly applies to Beat Cops - Primary Response Officers who go from call to call each shift.
If you’re a current or former police officer, we’d love to hear your perspective on firearms training, use-of-force training, and police driving programs. If you’re a civilian, does this surprise you? Do you think police training needs reform?
After 20 years in policing and a lifetime inside police culture, Randall believes officers and communities deserve better. More frequent training, better programs, and a commitment to police excellence. Watch until the end to learn about organizations pushing for real change in Canadian policing.

This shocking daytime break-in shows how vulnerable people can be in their own homes, but it also highlights the importance of being prepared. Criminals often target homes during the day when they think people are at work or distracted. In this video, Randall Arsenault, known as Officer Arsenault, explains what happened.
We also discuss:
Why awareness and a safety plan matter
How community and connection can deter criminals
Stories like this remind us that we don’t need to live in fear, but we do need to stay alert and prepared. Whether it’s home defense, crime prevention, or self-defence training, a little preparation can save lives.

In this inspiring conversation, Randall Arsenault sits down with Dave - former Chief of Winnipeg Police, longtime Edmonton officer, and President of the Coalition for Canadian Policing Reform @CoalitionCPR to talk about how Canadian policing can evolve for the better.
With over 40 years of experience in law enforcement and police leadership, Dave shares powerful insights into how we can move toward a more modern, consistent, people-focused training model. Instead of dwelling on what may be broken, this discussion shines a light on what’s possible: policing that emphasizes emotional intelligence, cultural understanding, empathy, and meaningful connections with diverse communities, including Indigenous peoples.
Dave shares the vision for a National Centre of Policing Excellence, where officers could receive evidence-based, standardized education - the kind that prepares them not just for enforcement, but for prevention, problem-solving, and building trust. Imagine future officers equipped with bias awareness, mental health training, community policing strategies, and gender-based violence response skills before being hired - education on par with other respected professions like teachers, nurses, and doctors.
You’ll hear real stories from the front lines where empathy changed the outcome of investigations, and why community-driven change is the key to creating safer, healthier, more resilient neighborhoods. Instead of top-down mandates, this conversation is about empowering officers and communities alike to work together for lasting change.
If you care about the future of Canadian policing, police accountability, mental health in policing, or building stronger community relationships, this is a must-watch. It’s a hopeful, solution-focused discussion on how we can shift from a model of “law enforcement” to one of service, duty of care, and public trust.

From 2019 to 2023, government jobs in Canada grew three times faster than the private sector, leaving many wondering about the future of our economy, tax base, and opportunities for Canadians.
Howard reveals a shocking statement: a former Canadian premier who once ran for Prime Minister said Canadians will be thanking Donald Trump in 20 years. Why? Because Trump’s tariffs and trade wars may have forced Canada to finally diversify beyond the U.S. market.
In this episode, we discuss:
Why government job growth isn’t sustainable
How Canada’s private sector is being taxed and squeezed
What “thanking Donald Trump” really means for Canada’s economy
Why Canadians must look beyond the U.S. and embrace global markets
What this all means for the average Canadian worker and family
Canada has the resources, the talent, and the opportunity - but are we heading in the right direction?

Most Canadians have never heard of the Use of Force Wheel, but it’s one of the most important tools in modern policing. From officer presence and communication, to soft and hard physical control, to intermediate weapons like a taser, and finally lethal force - Randall explains how officers constantly assess and reassess situations as they change.
This isn’t just about policing. The wheel also connects directly to Canadian self-defence laws (Section 34 of the Criminal Code). Just like officers, civilians have to make split-second choices when it comes to self-defense or protecting their family. Your actions need to be reasonable, justified, and proportional to the threat - whether it’s someone yelling at you, grabbing you, or pulling a weapon.
In this video, you’ll learn:
What the Use of Force Wheel is and how it works in Canada
How police decide what level of force is appropriate
Why officers can escalate or de-escalate instantly depending on the threat
How the same principles apply to self-defence in Canada
Why Canadians are often frustrated with current laws on protecting themselves
Policing and self-defense are complicated, but understanding the Use of Force Model helps make sense of how force is judged in Canada.
Do you think Canadians need more clarity in our self-defense laws? Let us know in the comments.

They also affect your driving record, which...as usual... leads to increased insurance rates.

Howard exposes Toronto’s traffic nightmare, lawless e-bikes, and controversial bike lanes. Bike lanes weren't necessarily designed with e-bikes in mind, which can travel speed limits designed for automobiles in optimal traffic conditions. From e-scooters racing at car speeds to congestion hurting businesses, the GTA’s struggles are spreading across Canada’s major cities. Are unregulated e-bikes and poor urban planning turning our urban centers into global jokes? Is additional regulations and more police enforcement the answer?

There's been a lot of debate in Canada about homeowners being charged after defending themselves. Think about it - police don't "match" a suspect's level of force.
Even if someone is unarmed, officers have batons, pepper spray, tasers, and protective gear. So why should it be different for you in your own home?
If an intruder breaks in, you don't know their intentions, their fighting skills, or if they're high on drugs or in crisis. You shouldn't have to wait to find out. It's your home, your family, and should be your right to defend yourself.
Do you agree - or should homeowners be charged for going "one step further”? Please share your thoughts below.

Ive pulled over hundreds of vehicles for not stopping at stop signs as a police officer, and almost every person swore they stopped. Were they lying, or did they genuinely think they stopped?
That's the beauty of the front facing cameras in vehicles. Depending where an officer sets up, they could catch the entire offence on camera. Often when you show the driver that they didn't in fact stop, after they swore they did, they're left in disbelief.
Must come to a complete stop.
As you heard, there are points, which will affect your insurance.
Drive safe everyone!

The Canada-U.S. border is quieter than ever.
In this episode of Canada Off Script, I sit down with a marketing and branding expert Howard Gold who just returned from a cross-border trip - and what he experienced might explain why Canadians are no longer heading south to shop.
After declaring his purchases, he was hit with duty, taxes… and something new: a 25% tariff on U.S. made goods. That’s right - a tariff Canadians never used to pay. These charges, introduced during the Trump era, are still in place and making it nearly pointless to shop across the border.
From empty Duty Free stores to dead quiet border crossings, this episode explores how tariffs are strangling cross-border travel and hurting businesses on both sides.
Have you noticed the change? Are you still shopping in the U.S.? Drop your experience in the comments.

Think again!
Hey, don't get mad at the messenger. It's basically a downward spiral, leads to even more fines and possibly increased insurance rates.
The solution? Just avoid breaking traffic laws to begin with - save your hard earned money.
