Designed specifically for the use in HEMA and other armed disciplines, they are suitable for fighting comfortably with most weapon simulators, from ⚔️Longsword to 🤺Smallsword.
This is made possible by their modular design, consisting of multiple layers.
1) The outer layer is a beautiful leather-and-fabric glove designed to be reminiscent of ancient gauntlets, such as "wisby" style gauntlets and some "hourglass" style gauntlets. They are made with an 800N certified stretch fabric in the palm and beetween the fingers, to prevent thrusts to the nonprotected areas from ripping the glove and hurting the wearer in case of a blade break. The palm area is printed with a thin silicone hexagonal pattern, for better grip and sensitivity, save for the fingertip area of the index and thumb, which is made of a synthetic wear-resistant leather made for fencing gloves, for better feeling of the weapon and less friction in grip adjustments.
The back of this outer sleeve features plastic-and-fiber composite knuckle protectors, a large semi-rigid piece for the back of the hand, and a padded area on the thumb's proximal phalanx as a first layer of protection. The knuckle protectors and back of the hand are reinforced by an abrasion resistant grey fabric, to prevent the glove from being easily damaged by weapon simulators hitting the harder underlying parts. This extremely resistant aramidic fabric synergizees with the 800N fabric on the majority of the rest of the glove to provide penetration and cut protection on the grand majority of the surface.
2) The main "armor", right inside the outer sleeve, is a layer of a soft-armor composite of my invention that takes on the shape of the glove when worn. This material (patent pending) combines the shock absorption capacity of a viscoelastic impact foam with a construction that allows to spread the force of a localized impact over a larger area despite remaining flexible. The armor is removable, and its shape is designed to act as the main protection layer against heavy hits. It is only a few mm thick in WeaponMaster Guantlets, and its flexibility-to-protectivity ratio is the core of the product. It protects the majority of the back of the hand down to the wrist, the back of the fingers, the sides of the index and the pinky, as well as the thumb. This layer is also resistant to cut and penetration, further enhancing the glove's protectivity against broken simulators.
3) Independent plastic fingertips complement the armor layer, completely removable and replaceable in case of damage as every other part of the glove, specially designed to ease fingertip compression from hard hits, favor the bending of the last phalanx as much as possible, and protect from hits to the front and side of the finger tip, while not causing the classic "finger spread effect" and joint strain most other fingertip protectors cause.
4) The gloves come with different moiusture-wicking padded linings, one backed by 3mm of high performance impact foam, one backed by 5mm soft foam.
GLOVE "CONFIGURATIONS"
The complete replaceability and removability of the glove's components, apart from easy repalcement of any worn out or damamged part, also allows the fencer to choose which protectors to use and which ones to take out. This effectively produces several different possible configuations.
1) Heavy Mode: The outer sleeve is equipped with both the "armor" layer and the heavier impact-dampening lining, as well as fingertip protectors. This makes it suitable for longsword bouts and other heavy weapons, while having great moblity for the task.
2) Medium Mode: The outer sleeve is equipped with the "armor" layer and the lighter foam lining, as well as fingertip protectors. This makes it a bit more mobile and comfortable due to the more giving padding, while impact shock protection is still good, enough to comfortably fence with one-handed weapons such as heavier sabers and sideswords, arming swords, messers and similar weapons, as well as milder play with longswords.
3) Light Mode: The armor is removed, and the outer sleeve is only equipped with the heavy impact-dampening lining and possibly fingertip guards, making it extremely mobile while decently protective. This setup is suitable for protective or light sideswords, rapier competitions, spadroons and light or technical play with heavier weapons.
4) Ultralight Mode: The outer glove is only equipped with the soft lining, making it as soft and mobile as a sport fencing glove with knuckleguards and a cuff, or a motorbike glove with some padding. This setup is suitable for lighter rapiers, smallswords and similar weapons.
