Name inspired by the beautiful menu music at the start of GTA V, with a track that could be listened to forever by the ever-talented Tangerine Dream crew.

The MicroFreak is running its FM 2 Op. Oscillator and the bass comes from an FM stock sound on the Model:Samples. Distortion, reverb, and wonderment from elsewhere

Only noticed after the fact that it was only getting audio from the Model:Samples and not the musical magic I was definitely creating with the MicroFreak and audio samples into the RC-505 (we've no evidence to prove otherwise so...)
Going to attempt to do more regular Wednesday evening streams as it seems to be a day for creativity without too many clashes but until then enjoy this accidentally one box streamHostipal Live StreamHostipal2025-09-25 | ...Hostipal - Turn On, Tune In, Drop Out (Outdoor Set on Model:Samples) | Breakbeats and Rave TechnoHostipal2025-09-22 | Dedicated to the wonderful Inky Da Cat 🐈😺 and all the Hardware Jams crew as I was unable to make the festival last weekend.
Created a live set solo on the Model:Samples with a couple different ideas that began to come together after the previous Dolmen Sessions. Had an idea of getting a campsite session going at a festival but the vibe wasn't right so what better place than to do it in isolation on a South Dublin beach. Couple dodgy transitions but such is the joy of live playing
The set's title comes from the ever-wise Timothy Leary, who would have a field day in these current times, while also replicating the creation process, as equipment is turned on, sounds and vibes tuned in, followed by a dropping out from this strange consensus reality, and into one of pure creation
#synth #outdoors #electronicmusicHostipal - A Set in 5 (Frenetic Breakbeats on the Model:Samples)Hostipal2025-09-09 | With some excess creative energy after the fun of this weekend's improvised set at Dolmen Sessions (and the stress that comes with that), decided to bash out a couple beats and ideas on the Model:Samples for the Hardware Jams BanJam challenge
Twitchy freneticism and breakbeats it is. Hope you enjoy!Hostipal - Handpan, Will it Freak? (Ambient Jam) Raw Sound From MicroFreakHostipal2025-09-03 | Belatedly updated the MicroFreak's firmware to include its sampling capabilities, ahead of a gig this weekend, and loaded up some samples. Quite liked the sound of this particular sample so did a quick jam on it.
Excuse the noise on it. Added a couple samples too low in volume, though it does add a certain elementHostipal - Last Orders (Model:Samples Dark Evening Beat Play)Hostipal2025-07-22 | On my final catsitting night, had a quick play around on the Model:Samples as the evening came to a close. (Chill Model:Samples Solo Beat)Hostipal2025-07-21 | Playing around with Triplets and threes in this chill beat. I used a major chord transposed around as the basis for the jam but may have ended up with a minor sound in the process. Had a lovely shot of my sister's cat while housesitting but wasn't she eager to run off as soon as the camera turned on with no notions of staying putHostipal - All Rise (Dark Hip Hop Beat) Model:Samples SoloHostipal2025-07-18 | Missed a one box challenge from Hardware Jams and do love taking the Model: Samples on a solo spin so decided to cook up one of my own in this dark beatHostipal - Mans Chest or Something (Dawless Experimental Beat Jam)Hostipal2025-07-07 | Was getting hip hoppity vibes from the street art for the Hardware Jams picture challenge so jammed up a cluttered jam with some local accenting for the icing on topHostipal - Dont Know What To Say (Experimental Breakbeatings)Hostipal2025-06-23 | Playing around with some sounds and samples alongside a propaganda type cartoon promoting capitalism to Americans in the post WW2 periodHostipal - Throbbing Crystle (a P-Orridge inspired Breakbeat Dawless Jam)Hostipal2025-06-22 | For the weekend challenge, I created a Genesis P-Orridge inspired jam after watching the great documentary "S/He Is Still Her/E" about the lifelong occultist and all round interesting character. As someone who delves into the occult, it was a fascinating and inspiring watch making me want to create once I got home. There's some inspiration in there somewhere if even just in the urge to create and "short circuit control" as William S Burroughs once told Genesis

Feel like Eurovision holds some cosmic influence on my life with various important moments, starting off as one of the few shows we'd watch every year as kids. Last year a fun DJ set of more cheesier tunes at a boycott event. The same weekend the year before, while Ireland's entrants sang "We Are One", was out trying to stop a homeless encampment from being burnt out in Dublin in a shift that Ireland has not recovered from since.
Attempted to capture the gravity of the moment and included some vocals so here is the result:

My limited knowledge of the periodic table had me going to an old megalithic tomb. I thought I might be able to get a single element as a core component of the stone used to build it but that was not to be. Secondly, I discovered it was built in the Bronze Age. Turns out that's an alloy. Copper sounded a bit crap on its own, so pre-Iron it is to account for the subsequent age that followed....Hope you enjoyJamuary 2025 Day 31.2: Hostipal - A Retrospective (Melodic Exploration)Hostipal2025-02-01 | For the evening of Day 31, busted out the full setup to play through and explore some melodies. After one particular motive rang out to me as having potential to recreate from "In To The Night", I laid down part of that sequence for the Reface CP and worked some extra parts around that.
