The intake manifold control valve/position sensor (which is typically located at one end of the intake manifold) provides values which help the vehicle’s Powertrain Control Module (PCM) control the amount of air being allowed into fuel injected engines at various RPMs. Using information from the sensor, The Intake Manifold Runner Control (IMRC) determines the position of the throttle body plates (commonly called flapper valves) and adjusts them to adapt to engine load variations. This ensures a correct mixture of fuel and air by limiting the amount of air that can pass though the engine. The P2015 code means that there is out of range data from the sensor.The P2020 code is the fault code associated with Bank 2 for the same issue.If your vehicle has a P2015 and/or P2020 error it is very likely the main dealer will look to fix this issue with one or two completely new intake manifolds at significant cost. The fault however usually lies with the actuator motor on the intake manifold(s). There are two plastic limiting stops on the large cog within the motor. The faultThe heated seat switch on various Fords become inoperable due to the metal bracket that guides the button up & down can break or bend. The small connectors can snap off, the bracket itself can bend/misshapen, or the whole bracket itself could snap in half. This is due to it being made of die-cast metal which can easily break over time. The fault Scheduled servicing of the supercharger is important to keep in the best condition and to prevent failure. The R53 and R52 Mini Cooper S models are fitted with an Eaton supercharger. The supercharger is lubricated and partially cooled by oil located in two reservoirs within the supercharger housing. BMW / Mini do not offer a change of this oil / service of this part as part of the service schedule. However other manufacturers vehicles utilising the same supercharger recommend servicing at 40,000 miles. It is not uncommon for the seals to weep on the supercharger allowing oil to escape. Most enthusiasts therefore recommend servicing every 40,000 miles to keep this oil fresh and topped up- preventing failure of the supercharger components. These superchargers are one of the most expensive components on the vehicle and used units can provide their own issues. Three slim stainless-steel hose clamps to replace OEM clips which are difficult to reuse on both ends of the airbox to throttle body valve intake hose. X1 to replace the clip on the main intake duct (to replace 13721491752) these hose clamps need to be slim line to fit the mounting recess correctly. Large supercharger inlet horn gasket (Elring) to replace 17511520044. Enabling removal of the supercharger inlet horn to clean / inspect the rotor. A pair of Viton O-rings (the best material for the fitting environment) equivalent to 11517509186 to replace O-rings on the water pump. To replace flange to block O-ring and water pump to flange O-ring. Viton O-ring seal to replace seal on the crank position sensor (equivalent to 12147514983) This is normally leaking on these vehicles and it is the best time access wise to replace this when removing the supercharger. 60ml syringe with long filler pipe to insert oil in to supercharger drain holes. 3/16 AF long arm Allen key (not found in most socket sets) to remove supercharger drain plugs, metric sizes will not fit and will cause damage. Dipstick crankcase bung plug, to prevent coolant entering the crank case when removing the water pump. Replacement throttle body gasket, essential to replace when removing the throttle body unit to service the supercharger. Equivalent to 13547509045.Bolts and washers included to screw in to the front frame to allow the radiator to be safely removed. Check out our instructions to see how crucial these are. When the Engine Control Module (ECM) detects that the intake manifold is not functioning properly it will normally illuminate the check engine light.The intake manifold control valve/position sensor (which is typically located at one end of the intake manifold) provides values which help the vehicle’s Powertrain Control Module (PCM) control the amount of air being allowed into fuel injected engines at various RPMs. Using information from the sensor, The Intake Manifold Runner Control (IMRC) determines the position of the throttle body plates (commonly called flapper valves) and adjusts them to adapt to engine load variations. This ensures a correct mixture of fuel and air by limiting the amount of air that can pass though the engine. The P2015 code means that there is out of range data from the senor. The P2020 code is the fault code associated with Bank 2 for the same issue.If your vehicle has a P2015 and/or P2020 error it is very likely the main dealer will look to fix this issue with one or two completely new intake manifolds at significant cost. The fault however usually lies with the actuator motor on the intake manifold(s). There are two plastic limiting stops on the large cog within the motor. These are delicate and inevitably wear, allowing the motor to over rotate which triggers the P2015/P2020 error.Our repair brackets can be installed very easily providing a solid limit for the actuator motors - curing these faults for the life of the vehicle. There is no need to replace the complete manifolds / actuator motors which would only fail again.The SolutionFit our brackets and remedy the over rotation with a hard limit for the actuator motor. Clearing fault codes. We recommend to fit both brackets at the same time as the two manifolds work together so it is preferable for them both to have the same limit.Our brackets can be fitted very simply, usually in under 15 minutes, with basic tools. They attach to the manifold actuator motors themselves and stop the over rotation which causes the fault. Many of our customers have purchased our brackets as a preventative measure before their motors fail.Our parts limit the motors to the same range as when they were new. Avoid the cost of a complete new manifold and actuator motor (or two) which would only fail again and which requires the removal of the fuel lines for installation.No software (VCDS/ VAG COM) is needed for this repair, check out our instructions and videos, after the bracket is fitted the error will clear on its own.Our bracket is unique in design and is constructed from stainless steel. Note: make sure Acetone melts plastic before fitting the clips to the handle, IT IS NOT GLUE. The surface needs to start melting for the parts to fuse together. The ProblemIt is very common for the clips on the inside of the tailgate handle to snap. The small plastic clips moulded on the inside of the tailgate handle snap causing the handle to become loose, making it difficult to open the boot. Mercedes Benz OM642 V6 Diesel Intake Inlet Manifold Swirl Flap Repair Connecting Runner Rod Fix Kit X8R Ltd 2019-06-25 | FaultMercedes OM642 V6 vehicles suffer issues with the intake manifold, the swirl flaps within this manifold are controlled by an external operating rod. This is made of a poor-quality plastic which wears prematurely. Swirl flaps are designed to aid with low down torque and fuel economy. Over time the plastic wears at the connection points with the manifold, creating an oval shape which eventually lifts up the rod leading to breakages causing the faults noted above. A physical inspection of the intake manifold will quite often show that the rod has snapped in half. The wear is caused by the plastic being the wrong specification for this task, it cannot deal with the heat and constant mechanical motion involved.These intake manifolds can also get severely clogged up with carbon deposits which can lead to the swirl flaps becoming harder to move which in turn leads to more stress on the motor and rod.You can ordinarily identify this issue by removing the engine cover and inspecting the intake manifold, often the rod is snapped or you can test the excess play in the rod linkage. SolutionOur repair kit is the best solution to this fault. The manufacturer will advise to replace the entire intake manifold (£600+). The new manifold would come with the same plastic rod attached which will lead to the same problem further down the line.In the case of this engine, there are two intake manifolds, each with a rod, so to replace both will cost a small fortune, especially as its generally just the rod that needs replacing.Our kit comprises of an aluminium rod machined from billet aluminium and anodised. It will not snap like the plastic versions and is designed to cope with the sustained heat and movement experienced during operation.Our rod comes complete with anti-friction adaptors, these interact with the plastic bushes of the rod and the plastic of the manifold connections, this means there is plastic on plastic operation, our anti friction adaptors allow easy slip and protect from wear.
