i'm not a very good player and i didn't get as much time with the beta as i'd have liked, so this is very sloppy (accidentally used pitfall trap on rathalos, got hit a ton, flew to the wrong camp, etc). happy to get it done, though. lance feels amazing, even without guard or evasion skills (power guard is a neat inclusion that helps guard-less lancing a lot)
this iteration of rathalos is kind of a pain as lance. lance is forced to target head or tail because it relies really heavily on targeting weak areas, but flinching his head makes him do this goofy annoying recoil animation, and he loves to tail swipe which means you can't keep focusing his head and its gross
anjanath is also irritating. feels like a smaller deviljho, except his stomach isn't a weak point! lance hitboxes are very generous in world but hitting his little baby head is still difficult
substantially easier than ancient forest, since diablos is a great lance target and the other two are just punching bags. this was a pretty good diablos fight, even with the wasted pitfall. really feel the absence of guard here though

not sure how i feel about the update yet. unfortunately, i haven't gotten a chance to try much of the new endgame stuff (epic temple, battlefield, etc), since chimera is a wasteland and there are only like ten people on the server at any given time. i made my assassin on crawler for the same reason, which has actually been a nice experience since it's super populated and the lag is ridiculously low (i'm west coast)
seems like there's more cash shop stuff now which sucks (the extra skill set thing is really cool, but apparently it takes like a year to get unless you buy bellpesos from the cash shop?), but i think they nerfed stat scaling at higher values (400+?), so the extra obsidian slots are hopefully not as big a deal as they could be. time will tell i guess
also i got a new pc so no more n64 graphics
i think this is the best (most consistent) way to solo him until we get legendary gear. i could probably cut this down by five minutes or so by being less defensive, but it's hard to practice this fight without an instance (this is also why i make some sloppy mistakes)
i think sorc and probably cleric should be able to do this much quicker, and it's all-around an easier fight with a better heal and better gear (for reference, my sword is +6, my armor and shield are +3, and my accessories are all lv30, so my gear is very average)
i have no idea what happened to his AI at around 11:11, but it didn't affect anything, so whatever. also some parts of the video are kinda choppy. this has been happening to me a lot lately

he's straightforward, though. just block his attacks, remember his grab is quicker under ~40% hp, and hit him until he dies

it's a straightforward fight aside from the laserbeam, which can be difficult to avoid. fortunately, the method i'm using here to dodge it is easy to do and very effective. i wish i could take credit for it, but i first saw it in this video http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Txemr1-uTHM, so props to that guy
not the cleanest solo, but it's not a very important boss, and it's hard to get many attempts when it's so heavily camped (johns)

not really any tricks here, just know her attacks and get ready to use a ton of dodge skills. cyclone strike is amazing

i went naked and used a weak sword just to make it harder i guess. kind of silly, but i recorded it and it felt like a waste to not upload it
preemptively blocking his instant roars because i can't reliably block them reactively. it's slower, but it's easier to do, especially if you're like me and don't have the lowest latency to the server (lag johns)
gonna have some bosses from cowen marsh soon
turnlocking the boss like this is a pretty great way for a modestly geared defender to deal with the poison. i first saw it done by korean player NTFS in this video youtube.com/watch?v=b0AWbxYcwGQ, so credit goes to him
i changed my recording resolution but it's not really noticeable other than the video not being pillarboxed

this fight is pretty rough. his roars do a ton of damage through my block, so there's very little room for error. the mt eda chief buff makes things much easier if you're not opposed to using it, and delaying his second phase helps enormously
my strategy for his second phase is probably not the fastest, but it's consistent and pretty easy to do

i'm using hp-focused equipment here because the extra healing made the fight much more consistent, but it's a bit long as a result (also she healed a lot). if you have an above-average weapon, you could just use strength gear and make things much quicker

haven't been playing much lately, partly due to the complete lack of content updates. there are still a few things i want to do before the lv40 patch is released though, so maybe a few more videos soon

this is by far the most difficult thing i have done in this game

i ended up going with more of a pvp build so my berserker kills are a bit slower than they could be
berserkers are hard to play

slower than my defender, but whatever. this is about 30 seconds quicker than it used to be with almost the exact same gear, so i'm still improving i guess

it's very long though because he has a ton of defense, and since his tornado is unavoidable (as far as i know), you don't have very much room for error

i feel like there should have been a much simpler strategy to this? took a few attempts, but with some practice it isn't too difficult, just time consuming. it would probably be significantly faster as a class with ranged attacks or higher burst damage (so basically anything other than defender)

goblin golem is always a good way to get your feet wet with soloing as a new character

i think it's important to be really aggressive here. he has this weird mechanic where his defense goes up over time, so you need to bring him down asap. because of this, additional attack is more helpful than usual

my gear is quite a bit better than it would be when you initially fight him, but it doesn't really change anything other than shaving a few minutes off of the fight

this is a really boring fight as a defender. it's straightforward and not at all difficult, but it takes forever and there's nothing entertaining about it
