TheRealSaintD I’m posting this video to shine a light on a troubling lack of accountability for careless and distracted drivers in Connecticut.

Connecticut invested over $17 million in safe-driving programs last year alone but when accidents happen, consequences are often just a slap on the wrist. Safety and accountabilty feels secondary to paperwork.

The East Hartford Police Department cited this truck driver for an “improper turn” but ignored the fact that he tried to flee the scene after being told the crash was caught on camera and that police were on the way. Both the police and the District Attorney claimed “no crime was committed because the driver eventually returned.”

The truth is, he didn’t return on his own. A Good Samaritan in a Corvette had to chase him down, block his truck, and convince him to go back. Without that intervention, he likely would have escaped entirely.

This isn’t just about one incident; it’s about a system that excuses reckless behavior and puts all of us at risk.
