Its been a while since my last video. I moved into a house recently in order to accommodate my family moving in with me. So I've been tied up with everything involved with that. Also some of my setup was broken in the process which also held me up. Just to explain the delay.
I really enjoyed making this cover. I love a ton of the music from the Donkey Kong Country series, but haven't made many covers since I always feel there is something missing without percussion. Since I recently added in the drum thing, I went back and tried some of these songs again. My cover definitely feels different than the original.
I've decided to start doing some sort of end scene for my videos that focus on some additional aspect of that video. Just to start showing some of the details I find interesting that are lost in the overall video. This time it's a solo of my favorite part of the song, but it may be something different in future videos.

I've wanted to do a Chrono Trigger cover for such a long time. Now seemed ideal with the latest addition of simple percussion.

Hey guys. It's been a while and I just wanted to let you guys know I'm still around and working on things. So I made this short and sweet cover with these new steppers I've been working with for the past month or so. I've been using my Patreon support to help me get into prototyping circuits/soldering better. This controller is the product of that research and effort. Thanks again so much Patreons! You guys make a real difference in what I'm able to do.
It's going to sound somewhat lame, but I was really touched by a recent comment asking where I've been and if I'm OK. I'm not very good at keeping you guys up to date and I constantly worry about that. But you guys seem to find a way to understand and I just want to let you know how much I appreciate that. I've been away mainly because work has ramped up but also because of a technical issue I encountered while trying to upgrade the steppers. More on that later.

I covered the an Attack on Titan song last year, but this is the version I really wanted to do at that time. It was too complicated, but over the past year I think I've edited pretty well for my setup.
FYI, a huge thanks goes to Animenz for providing the base MIDI I used for this. Check out his piano cover, it's pretty amazing: youtu.be/69lx6TvQTFg
I put a lot of work into this one. I figure moving forward I should practice knowing how to do split screens so that way I can show different views at the same time. Especially as I add new instruments. So after getting fed up with my current video software, I spent a lot of extra time re-learning a new one and focusing on visual effect. Originally wanted to release this with the premiere of season 2, but it got moved to June and I just can't wait that long =P
Thanks guys and enjoy =)

I liked it so much I made my own version and kept it to myself. Decided to make a video when recently adding in the steppers.

A bunch of Patreon funded upgrades in this video:
- Stepper Motors
- LEDs for each drive
- (Unseen) Cable management
- (Unseen) Microcontroller upgrades/replacements
- Monitor arm
I love you guys. Thank you!
After putting out my preview video I got a huge influx of requests for Undertale. Plus I had just recently seen Tsuko G. put out a great cover of this song so I definitely had to do this one.
A huge thanks goes out to KingWut117 who provided me with the base MIDI I used to do this cover. You can check out his work on NoteFlight here: noteflight.com/profile/b139480b95c9e3d2cdddd53311ec8b44f0b4bf0b

"Building the future and keeping the past alive are one in the same thing." -Solid Snake (MGS2)
To celebrate the release of the newest addition to the Metal Gear Solid series, I thought I'd go back to the first one I played and cover the infamous Encounter theme. Good memories. I have to admit I'm especially glad MGSV came out for PC. Otherwise I wouldn't have been able to play it since my PS4 was stolen. Stupid robbery.
I've been pretty out of touch especially this past month, but that's only because I've been concentrating on research. I'm hoping to have something new to demo by the end of this month. Nothing final, but a bit of a preview at least.

I remember this from those De Beers diamond commercials I use to see as a kid. Always loved the tune.
While recording I didn't notice the visual distortions showing up in some of the takes. They just didn't show up in my camera's screen. By the time I saw them while editing the video, it was too late to go back and re-record. I've decided to invest in some proper lighting equipment so this isn't such a problem going forward. I hope you can still enjoy this video despite the distraction.

First video since moving into a new place. The move has been really time consuming over the past month and currently I'm flying to India for a three week vacation. Never a moment to spare, but I made sure I had something for you guys this month. One more video for July, so look forward to it!

Just wanted to do something a little different on the drives from one of my favorite bands. Enjoy.
I've been consumed with finding and moving into a new place this last couple months so sorry for such a long gap. Everything is still in boxes so another FDD video seems to be a ways off also. Just a heads up.
Also, wanted to thank my Patreons for their support this far. I've been making small improvements here and there; one of which is the supplies to build new sets of cables for the drives. There are also some other things I've started working on, but I'd like to talk about them once they're a little further along.

I really love Kingdom Hearts and cannot wait for the third one. Though I feel like I may be missing out on some of the story not having played the other side games for the PSP. I've been asked to cover many KH themes/songs, but I felt this is one that transitions very well onto my drives. I'll let you be the judge.
I feel like every month I have some sort of excuse, but yet again, I was pressed for time as I've been recovering from a second round of PRK eye surgery. Hoping this is the last one and then I can get back to a more normal routine.

Megaman X was one of the first SNES games I ever had and had some great music. I've done a couple of covers in the past, but this has to be one of my favorite themes next to Armored Armadillo and Storm Eagle.
My computer had failed this month so I didn't get as much free time to work on a video as I wanted. Next month probably won't be any better as I have an eye surgery coming up, but I'm still aiming to put out at least one video. Enjoy guys.

***** I highly recommend listening to this with headphones! *****
I was looking back at my videos and realized I haven't really done anything anime related. Like many others, I absolutely love the Attack on Titan series and just had to cover something from it. This is a very complicated piece and took a lot of additional time to arrange. I even had to develop a new technique for re-arranging MIDIs in order to do this. I made some little changes throughout the song to accommodate my drives. It was a ton of effort and I hope you guys enjoy the result.
A huge thanks goes to Animenz. I used his MIDI/arrangment as a base for this and it is one glorious piece of awesome.

This is coming out later than I had hoped it would due to my apartment recently being robbed. I also didn't have much time to record the video so I apologize if it seems a bit bare this time around. Some of the equipment I use for recording the video was stolen so I had to borrow from a friend for a limited time. Hopefully next month's video is on time!
Heads up, I'm working on a slightly more involved project for January. Keep an eye out for it! And as always, enjoy this video.

Three years ago today, I uploaded my first FDD cover video. I had absolutely no idea that a small side project would grow into such a big part of my life. It's crazy to think it got to the point where a museum even asked me to build them a setup (pictures on my FB Page)! To celebrate I've given that first video the remake it deserves. Compare the difference between this and the first version. Even I'm impressed by the huge change in quality.
So long as I have my audience, I'll continue to strive for better videos. Here's to another three years of FDD music. Enjoy.

I think this is one of my favorite turn outs in my whole, MMX-to-FDD covers. I was a bit on the fence on whether to have drums included. I decided against it, but put up that version on my Bandcamp for those of you interested. Enjoy!
On a side note, I had such a positive response from Ducktales that I've decided to do just one more of my favorite Disney cartoon themes for my next video. Again, I'm trying to keep up with a video every two weeks =) Keep an eye out!

Megaman X has one of my favorite video game OSTs. I've done a couple of its theme in the past, but with the new recording process I mentioned, I really want to revisit and do the rest of them. Therefore I'm going to do a MMX theme every other video in order to fine tune the process and try a couple other things while paying tribute to this awesome sound track =D
Thanks again for all your comments on the sound quality. While I haven't responded, I promise I've read every criticism and compliment and taken them into consideration. I value your input and you're the only reason I'm still doing this!

A bit of an experiment. Got this keyboard for testing out MIDI in/out capabilities and developing some improvements in respect to that. Found that I could pipe out the drum portions to it and this song needed it.
For those of you who are a bit more observant, yes it looks like the green light on the MIDI-USB device is "out of sync", but it actually isn't. I didn't account for the fact that a lot of extra MIDI data is being sent so the activity light doesn't just reflect the notes being played, but also all of the other actions going on.

There's a little explaining to do in this video. I was asked by the Nexon Computer Museum to build a musical FDD exhibit like my own! It's been a very busy past few months because of it and other responsibilities. While I had the setup in my possession, I arranged this song for all 16 drives.
It's been a fantastic learning process, but I think I'd prefer to stick to my eight drive setup. I'm just so much more familiar with it and it takes a lot less time to put together a video. If you're interested in the museum exhibit, I'll be posting more info about it on my FB page later on!

Believe I have the whole audio recording part perfected so I spent some time focusing on the video. This was highly requested and it's a pretty fun theme.

Today is my birthday and I wanted to make a small tribute to Psycho Mantis. Favorite game, favorite boss, favorite cutscene. The focus isn't on the music so I apologize if it's not up to par. Some things just don't work on floppy drives.
For those of you who don't know, this is one of the bosses in Metal Gear Solid. I thought it was really cool how what determined the dialogue was how you had been playing throughout the game. Also he read what games you've played off of your memory card and used his psychokinetic powers to move your controller =) Now days, this isn't such a big deal I guess. However, I still feel MGS1 did it the best. In other news, I really want to go pick up a copy of the new Legacy Collection.
Enjoy.

Finally had the chance to do a classical piece. This is one of my favorites. Enjoy!
You may have noticed a change in the walls/lighting. I moved the setup to a different part of my house which is less prone to outside noise/interference. Also, since I switched to a microcontroller with more outputs, I re-implemented the blue LED and added in PSU control. So now when the software connects, it automatically turns the PSU on! No more need to manually flip the switch (Ain't nobody got time for that!).
The LED comes on at the beginning of songs and turns off at the end. Since I'm doing multiple angles now, it makes it way easier to sync up the videos if I have something visual to tie them together.

I enjoyed this game a lot back in the day. It was one of the few games where the overall feel of the stage was just...happy. It's more than I can say for most games now days. Or maybe I'm just getting old. Either way, enjoy!

Liked this theme as a kid, loved the sound of it on my drives. Hope I've done it the justice it deserves.
I made a few mistakes while recording the video, but did not have the time to re-do it. So you might find a couple of things that shouldn't be there =P

Points I want to make:
- Upgraded to a Maple microcontroller from LeafLabs which is super awesome/fast
- Lost blue blinking LED capability (oh noooooooo)
- These next few videos are going to be some of my favorite old game themes
- This time I'm not waiting till I get four videos done, but instead releasing them as I get them finished

Wanted to try more things in my videos and this is what happened =P Tell me what you think! Also, I noticed that when I listen to this on my laptop or phone, it seems out of balance. However when I listen to it with headphones or my desktop speakers, it sounds much better. Enjoy!
This was the last of my latest set of videos. I did the songs that I think sounded best on floppy drives so that leaves out some of the songs I really wanted to do. I always give out early access on my FB page or spot on Abyssal Forums. Both links below.

I tried adding in a simple effect in this one around 2:33 so check it out. Another of my favorite Daft Punk songs. Enjoy!
New set of videos that I've entirely devoted to Daft Punk! I did the songs that I think sounded best on floppy drives so that leaves out some of the songs I really wanted to do. This is the third of four videos. You can still access the last one early by visiting my FB page or spot on Abyssal Forums. Both links below.

I've tried a few new things that I'd love to hear your input on. I've asked a question on my FB page about the camera angle. You can go there and answer it or give me your opinion on it! I'd love to hear your opinion.
