Eric Ott 2021-01-26 | This is a video of myself at work, on top of a 2.7MW GE Wind Turbine in Highmore, South Dakota.In this video, I am up on top of the Nacelle, adding SekoFlex to the Surfboard Mounting Hardware, to complete the units waterproofing. This is part of the MC (Mechanical & Cleaning) Crews Duties, who are usually the 2nd to last crew to work on a tower, with My normal Job Gen Alignment, being the very Last Step before the tower is 100% ready to go.However, being that the wind was far too high (17mph max) at the site for me to complete my work this day, I was lending a hand to the MC Crew.The top of the Nacelle sits about 320 feet above the ground, and the tower has a rotor diameter of 380 feet, making the overall height of the unit approximately 510 feet tall.Love this job!!!

Drone Crash - DJI F550 Eric Ott 2016-08-22 | This is a crash that happened yesterday to my DJI F550 Hexacopter due to low battery power from about 1000'.The crash broke both landing gear, the GoPro gimbal, scratched the GoPro and shattered a propeller.The craft is being fixed now and should be ready to fly again tomorrow thanks to the spare parts I keep on hand!
Star Lapse - Time Lapse Eric Ott 2016-08-20 | This is a video I made with my New GoPro Hero 4 Black! This is an entire night of pictures, played back in about 30 Seconds.The shutter speed was set at 30 seconds and a picture was taken every 30 seconds, all night until morning.The entire time lapse is comprised of 728 pictures played back at roughly 30 frames per second (24.26 for post production purposes).I look forward to many new possibilities like this at our new place!
GoPro Hero 4 Black Test & Drone Flight Eric Ott 2016-06-28 | I just got a new GoPro Hero 4 Black and the parts I needed for my drone and was finally able to take the drone out again this weekend! It was windy and 115 degree heat index, so I didn't get much flying done, but I did get to test out some of the cool new features.The first two videos are time lapses. The first is in the normal day mode. The second time lapse is in night lapse mode, taken at sun set.The third scene is a drone flight with the new Hero 4 Black in 60fps, tho it is restricted on YouTube to 30fps.The 4th and 5th scenes is the new Slow Motion Mode, recorded at 240fps, played back at 30fps.The final scene is a night lapse with a 5 second shutter speed, taken as a very severe stormed rolled thru the valley.The slow motion fire scene total length is 34 minutes and is available for purchase if interested, please contact me.
Drone Crash DJI F550 Eric Ott 2016-02-26 | I took my DJI F550 Hexacoptor (6 props) out for a flight today after updating the camera gimbals firmware, updating some antennas, and adjusting the roll of the camera, as it sat at about an 8-10 degree angle and it annoyed me.Before I left my house, I was concerned about the wind, however, not having a single calm day since I bought this drone 3 months ago, I went ahead and took it out anyways to take advantage of my day off from work.I went to my normal flying place in Oshkosh, WI at Asylum Point Park. When I arrived, I felt the wind was far too high, but I've had an itch to fly it, I had the day off and was here, so I'm flying!It took me a while after arming the motors to actually feel the wind was calm enough to take off. The wind was steady at about 20-30 mph. It's nothing I hadn't flown in before, and before I knew it, I found my break in the wind and lifted off without incident.After I got air-born, I became increasingly concerned about the wind speed as it started to get fairly unsteady. The drone was rapidly rising, dropping, swaying left to right, front to back; I decided to set it down and wait out the wind.After waiting for a short time, I re-armed the motors, increased the throttle, waited for the right break in the wind to take off, and right as I increased the throttle further, taking much of the wight off of the craft, a wind gust larger than anything that had been experienced so far, blew my drone over backwards, forcing my rear props to a very quick stop and causing minimal damage to the carbon fiber blades.I inspected the parts, armed the motors, physically held the drone to the ground, increased the throttle and decided no immediate dangers existed from the crash.I reset the drone, waited again for a calming of the wind and took off without a problem. The drone flew better in the high wind after I got it out into the open, but I still didn't feel completely comfortable as the wind was moving the hexacopter up and down quite a bit, but I tried to keep a decent altitude to avoid a crash into the ground.I spun around a bit, got some shots of the ice, the cracks, the clouds, and then after a while, decided to turn around and shoot the lighthouse from a different angle than I previously have.Shortly after turning around, the wind hit a new high speed and the craft became increasingly hard to handle. The wind is now about 35-45 mph, and after having one close call already, I am rapidly looking for an opportunity to immediately set down, as the drone has reached its limit in correcting the wind and is now barely controllable.Seconds before I make my attempt to land, a wind gust that nearly blew me off my feet, causing me to compensate my standing position to an angle, a gust of 50-60 mph catches my drone, blowing the craft beyond its ability to correct the roll, swiftly carries it into the ground, and flips into the weeds, coming to a rest on the rocks and snow alongside the frozen lake.Parts fly away from the drone as a sound of a head hitting concrete fills the winter air, creating a silent moment of disbelief as I look around to see if anyone saw the crash. Luckily I think it went unseen; Until now!I hope you enjoyed! I played with some color correction filters while editing this to give the sky the fiery feeling (as it was very dull outside), and I am going to try to play some more with this in future videos.In the mean time, I need to figure out why my camera gimbal seems to no longer have any power, and fix my brand new retractable landing gear, as both of these were effected in todays crash.I was told over and over by professionals, read stories and saw videos almost every day, about how "YOU WILL CRASH!"It is indeed inevitable. If you fly a machine, a machine that is not perfect, you/it will crash. Today the conditions caused the crash, but I can only be happy that nothing more serious than some super glue, hopefully some calibrating or re-wiring, and maybe some new props in the near future will completely and cheaply fix this crash. It could have been a lot worse and I am gaining an increasing respect for this and the damage it is capable of if conditions aren't exactly perfect.As always, thanks for watching and I hope you click the subscribe button! DJI F550 Test Flight at Asylum Point Park - Lake Winnebago Eric Ott 2016-01-31 | This is from the Asylum Point Park Boat Landing on Lake Winnebago in Oshkosh, Wisconsin from earlier today, Jan 30, 2016.This test flight was to fully test the new retractable landing gear that has been installed, as well as to get an idea of any change in flight time due to the weight change. Total Flight time was about 17 minutes and it was very windy yet again.I am still waiting for the rubber dampers for the camera gimbal. They should fix the rest of the video jitter.
First FPV Practice at Asylum Point Eric Ott 2016-01-24 | So most of the issues with the jittery camera have been solved. However, I have noticed that the shock absorbers on the gimbal are in bad shape, so I ordered new ones. I also ordered new landing gear that will retract and fold up at the hit of a switch on the controller, so I wont have to crop as much out of the picture anymore. Once the landing gear gets installed, the camera will also be moved more towards the front at the end of the parallel round rods, visible in some of this video.This is the first decent day we have had in a while and I was happy getting it out and happy with the flight! My plans are to be making money with this by spring or summer!Follow me for more of my videos!I should also add, it was very windy again this day. It always seems to be windy on the lake when the weather is nice enough to fly.

The following day, we drove from South West Wisconsin to Milwaukee, where we flew to Atlanta, then Fort Lauderdale, Florida. We then got on a Carnival Cruise, where we went spent 5 days, and visited Ocho Rios, Jamaica and George Town, Grand Cayman; Cayman Islands. When we returned, we spent the 4th of July on Hollywood Beach, where we saw an amazing fireworks display, followed by a Japanese Dinner inside of the Hard Rock Casino and Resort. The next day, which was our final day, we took a 4 hour drive to the Florida Keys, and spent the day looking around Key West.This was by far, the coolest vacation I have ever been on!

Light Duty Tow truck Winching a Semi Time Lapse Eric Ott 2014-02-21 | This video was shot with my GoPro Hero 3+ at work today (2/20/14). A Semi and a trailer got stuck on a snowbank while turning out of a parking lot, so the Police Department dispatched the tow company that I am the manager of. The truck was blocking 2 lanes and I blocked a 3rd with my truck.I pulled it out with a 99 Ford F350 Tow truck with dual winch lines. This truck is a LIGHT DUTY truck, ment to pull cars and small trucks out of the ditch.This video is a time lapse. It was shot 1 frame per second at 12MP each, then rendered at 1080P.
Ticket & Tow with my new Go-Pro Eric Ott 2014-02-14 | This was day 3 with my new GoPro Hero 3 Black. I did this test during my day of work at my full-time job, manager of and driver at a towing company. This is a ticket & Tow, where a car has been ticketed by police and the property owner wants the car removed. They get fairly intense sometimes, since the owner of the vehicle doesn't know it is happening. I recorded at 1 frame every 2 seconds on this trip.
Wisconsin Dells Time Lapse Trip - Day 1 with new GoPro Eric Ott 2014-02-11 | This was day 1 with my new GoPro Hero 3 Black. I did two tests with this cam during my day of work at my full-time job, towing vehicles. This was the second time lapse test. I towed a Jeep Grand Cherokee 4x4 from Oshkosh, Wisconsin to Wisconsin Dells, Wisconsin. I tested 1 frame per second and 2 frames per second settings on this trip. I just quickly threw this video together, as I have to work in the morning.

March on Monsanto - Fond du Lac, WI - 5/25/2013 Eric Ott 2013-05-26 | A quick rundown of Monsanto: The most hated Corporation in the world!Monsanto is the biotech giant who created (with Dow Chemical) Agent Orange for the Vietnam War. Agent Orange is still causing birth defects 4 generations later in babies. Anyways, over time, somehow we have allowed them to take over more than half of the worlds food supply. Including over 60% of our seeds, which they have Genetically Engineered (GE'd or GMO's - Genetically Modofied Organisms) with harmeful chemicals.Let's take a look at Corn. Monsanto has GE'd more than 70% of the worlds corn. Every cell is injected with Round-up among other cancerous chemicals in the production phase. When this grows, it automatically kills the grass and weeds around the plant, allowing it to grow in "harsher than normal" conditions. Great right? Not necessarily. Look at a bottle of Round-up (which Monsanto made by the way). It said harmful if swallowed. Now when it rains, this Round-up that was injected into the cells of the plant, actually comes out of the corn plant and seeps into the ground, eventually reaching our drinking water, which we intern also swallow. Plus we eat the corn which contains this, and corn is in virtually everything. Think, you have corn, corn syrup, corn starch, High fructose corn syrup and many, many more, so we eat A LOT of corn. Just recently, Japanees scientists have proven that this corn can and will cause Cancerous Tumors, among other health defects by using lab rats.Now the FDA,USDA and our government should do something about this or regulate them right? Unfortunetally, Monsanto gave over $7 Million to the government last year for lobbyists and "donations", and $4 Million already in the first 3 months of this year. On top of that, more than 30 members of Monsantos legal team work in high ranking positions with the USDA, FDA and even the Federal Government including Hillary Clinton (MONSANTO: Rose Law Firm, Monsanto Counsel; FEDERAL: US Senate, Secretary of State), Michael Kantor (MONSANTO: Board of Directors, Monsanto Lawyer; FEDERAL: US Secretary of Commerce), Michael A. Friedman (MONSANTO: SVP for Clinical Affairs at GD Searle & Co [merged with Monsanto]; FEDERAL: Acting Commissioner FDA), and some other large names. So when a storm comes around and blowes your neighbors corn into your farm, which it will, and that corn then grows on your farm, Monsanto WILL sue you for everything you own for patent infringment or make you start growing their product, and has millions of times. In fact, they are accused of forcing over 17,500 people into commiting suicide in Indonesia alone by stealing peoples farms and everything they own. Now, here is something interesting. There was a tiny part inserted into the last budget bill, dubbed the Monsanto Protection Act. The "Monsanto Protection Act" effectively bars federal courts from being able to halt the sale or planting of controversial GMO's or GE seeds, no matter what health issues may arise concerning GMOs in the future. Many members of Congress were apparently unaware that the "Monsanto Protection Act" even existed within the bill they were voting on: HR 933, which was a spending bill aimed at averting a government shutdown and ensuring that the federal government would continue to be able to pay its bills. The President did nothing to stop it, either. This bill also makes it impossible for a farmer to be able to protect themselves in case of a court suit, or for a farmer to even file a suit against Monsanto.I could go on and on, their is A LOT to cover!
