Couple of years before old crow I was boarding train for Chicago Learning the key to the highway I was learning to sing it out my way I had just turned 15 had me a ticket Up my sleeve some 26 brackets A 5 string was strung on up to my ears And a belly full of songs worth more than my years My case swung open like the doors of hell Trying to cast me a busker’s spell Woah let it rain Nickels and dimes gimme your scratch Cause I got a train to catch make a getaway Woah let it rain
Northbound breaker this Tom Speed in the Anteater, you got your ears on Roger. you got the Salsbury fried on both sides of 81 c’mon, Thats a big 10 4 good buddy u get a load of the boys in that 4 wheeler. Copy that. Put lights on that rig, call it a hillbilly Christmas tree. That aint no damn Volvo. That's a jalopy. Come on. Flames painted on the quarter panels. Let ‘em pull over at the Flying J and give us a tune, 10-4 Big Truck.
One winter Critter said he was willing to go Up Route 11 to Ontario To dance them daughters and wear that crown And be the king of the curb from Lake Huron on down My case swung open like a Niagara wind And I said that buskers prayer again
Woah let it rain Mr. RCMP won’t ya cut me some slack Cause I song to catch make my getaway Woah let it rain
And the Old Gods of the west met the New Gods of the east. And decided to remake the world between these gouged bear claw waters, a new republic to rise from the land of the ancients. And the Old Gods would name the waters and the new gods the land. And for the waters the Old Gods chose Conesus, Canadice, Honeoye, Canandaigua, Keuka, Seneca, Cayuga, Owasco, Skaneateles and Otisco. And for the land the New Gods chose Aurelius, Hannibal, Hector, Homer, Junius, Lysander, Manlius, Ovid, Sempronius Tully, and Ulysses. But one name they decided jointly for the place above the greatest of the waters. It was to be called Ithaca.
In the Rongo Hayes got a little far gone lighting up another Irish car bomb Then Willie called at 11:11 with a voice like the wreck of the old 97 Shani, Jako, The Bird Dog flying On a trail of tip jars to Vancouver Island Whoa let it rain Pennies and nickels whatever you got But the best tip of all was from a man named Doc

Lyrics: Hello Highland Rim Coursing round my city Standing for a long old time Full of mystery You seen it all before, so I’m wondering Will you show me the way Down your trail to the place Where the birds fly away to be free
Hello string picker Well, you’re singing mighty fine I've heard em just like you They didn’t want to climb Up here's on my back where I could show them a sign Guide the way Down the trail to the high lonesome place Where the birds fly away to be free
Hello Highland Rim You’re looking mighty fine Shaking off the winter months And ringing in springtime I’d like to ask you something if you don’t mind See I get full of dread all these worries in my head Makes my wings feel as heavy as lead
Hello string picker Well that's a heartfelt lament But time has a way of making straight all roads that once were bent From high up here it's pretty clear that all is vanity But there’s a season to everything Stick it out strum and sing With the birds and fly away to be free
Well thanks a lot Highland Rim Can I come back again Take my rest ‘neath your green shaded trees Anytime I don't mind I'm here for all to climb Where the birds fly away to be free

Lyrics: Come ye ghost riders they got nothing to fear She’s rolling and the devil is the engineer Hells the destination on this station stop On the ghost train blowing into Blowing Rock Ooooooh Ghost train Ooooooh Ghost train
Well the Old Crows caught a lucky break at the Merle fest back in 2000. Cause somebody was out there listening Ears pricked, eyes trained watching the boys Ready to pounce like a peregrine in for the kill Age of the devil only time would tell. Then lo and behold a call came in to the Tweetsie Railroad Wild Western Theme Park. It seems The Grand Ole Opry was looking for an act and the boys fit the bill. Trouble was they had signed a hefty contract with ole Tweetsie and damned if the engineer wasn’t a breathing fire when catching the boys jump track they got out quick, Westbound, left it all behind Chickens, pigs, sheeps, goats and a good crop in the ground too So long high country hello big city. Things were looking up. Course everything's looking up when you're 6 feet under.
Fast and fire-breathing like a burning flame The dead go walking down the tracks again Flying off the rails for a shady grove Where Satan is waiting for you to sell your soul Ooooooh Ghost train Ooooooh Ghost train
Spyglass One of those quarter op jobs Like they got at the Grandfather Mountain Or See Rocky City I spy with my little eye Crows A murder of em Flapping on down I 4O That's me behind the wheel. Everyone else passed out. Benny’s bass scratching up the window tint, he’s got a kid now but Kinman can thump it anyway or Billy.. WSM is a dry leaf crackle over the rush of the roadway We're coming to ya live from the Ernest Tubb Theatre Westbound speeding past the sunsphere, blowing a kiss to K town harriman rockwood Obion Frozen head crossville. Monterrey. Let er go Slept 3 hours in a bramble grove choked cedars up buttermilk road. Is this way to go to claim the silver and the gold Is this the page the great ones folded over where souls are sold for fortune's untold Someone ask a crow. Maybe they know. Nashville's only 90 miles to go.
Tumbling down the mountain like a brokedown dam Something evils lurking just around the bend Judgement Days a waiting at the very next stop On the Ghost Train blowing out of Blowing Rock Ooooooh Ghost train Ooooooh Ghost train Ooooooh Ghost train Ooooooh Ghost train

Lyrics: There’s an old hatch show poster a little faded by the sun That reminds me of the dreams that you go chasing when you’re young Spend some years out on the circuit answering that curtain call And they might just hang your poster on the wall
On the wall on the wall How I love that poster hanging on the wall It’s just a souvenir of old but it’s worth way more than gold Cause I know we finally made it after all
There’s a poster vote Roy Acuff printed on Election Day One of Porter handing Dolly a bouquet And there’s Little Jimmy Dickens next to Hank he’s standing tall Now there’s one of Old Crow hanging on the wall
On the wall on the wall How I love that poster hanging on the wall It’s just a souvenir of old but it’s worth way more than gold Cause I know we finally made it after all
After all these roads we travelled After all the miles we run After all the wild and lonesome like a rattling gatling gun
After busted strings and rusted chains still we had the gaul For to hang our crooked poster on the wall
On the wall on the wall How I love that poster hanging on the wall It’s just a souvenir of old but it’s worth way more than gold Cause I know we finally made it after all
