Askatasunera - Basque-Corsican Bilingual Solidarity Song [Lyrics + Translation]
updated
The strike triggered a violent response from the Massachusetts National Guard, and resulted in the deaths of 3 workers, but was ultimately successful and helped raise wages from dozens of textile companies across New England by up to 20 percent.
The strike was organized by the leaders of the IWW, Bill Haywood of Salt Lake, Utah, and Elizabeth G. Flynn of Concord, New Hampshire.
However, the phrase itself preceded the strike, with the poem _Bread and Roses_ by James Oppenheim, which this song is adapted from, being published two months before the strike began.

"It is one of history's most bitter lessons that the oppressed can become the oppressor. But the past sufferings of a people can never be used to justify the persecution of another people." —Ruthie Gorton (from the liner notes)
This song, as Gorton states, intends to "help expose the twin lies" which say
1) that opposition to Zionism is anti-Semitic
2) that Zionism is in the interests of the Jewish people

Performed by Kim Kwang Suk and the Pochonbo Electronic Ensemble in the early 1990s. This song was originally written in the 1960s, encouraging workers to accelerate the Chollima Movement, which initiated rapid economic development in the country.
Chollima itself is a mythical horse from Chinese folklore, said to be able to travel 1000 li (approx. 500 km) in a single day. Chollima was used by Kim Il-sung to energize the workers in Korea, bringing the country out of the rubble of the Korean War and turning the DPRK into a truly 'prosperous' country as fast as the chollima can run.
"에야차!" (Eyacha!) does not mean anything, but is an interjection like "Hey!" in English.

This was performed by Anri Gæymba and Temyr Khæyčberiei; the children of veterans of this war. Not to be confused with the national anthem of Abkhazia, which is also entitled "Аиааира". I apologize if there are any issues with the translation.
On 16 September 1993, the Abkhazian Armed Forces breached a previous ceasefire agreement signed on 27 July, and began a siege of the Georgian-held Abkhaz capital of Sukhum. After 11 days of fierce, costly, and atrocious warfare, the city of Sukhum was under full Abkhaz control, marking an end to the war. Thousands of civilians evacuated the city during these events. This victory made the Republic of Abkhazia a de-facto independent state, though it would not receive international recognition.
Please note that this video does not serve to glorify war.

Some notes:
"Mamdzishkha" is a mountain in northern Abkhazia.
"Gechba" was a family that owned land along the Black Sea coast before the Caucasian War in the 19th century. When the town of Leselidze was captured by Abkhazians, it was renamed Gyachrypsh, in honor of the family.
On July 16, 1969, the Saturn V carrying Apollo 11 launched from Launch Complex 39A with its eyes set on the moon. Today, November 16, 2022, that history is echoed as Artemis I launches as the first in a series of complex missions to return humanity to the moon. During this flight, the spacecraft will launch on the most powerful rocket in the world and travel farther than any spacecraft built for humans ever flown.
Bear my soul to touch the universe beyond.

This song was originally written in Serbo-Croatian Latin. Here are the lyrics in Cyrillic:

On the 6th of November 1975, approximately 350,000 unarmed Moroccans converged on the southern border of the country and waited for a signal from King Hassan II to cross into the Spanish Sahara. They brandished Moroccan flags, banners, photographs of the King, and the Qur'an.
On the 7th of November, the hundreds of thousands of Moroccans advanced several kilometers into the Spanish Sahara. In order to prepare for a possible counter-invasion from Algeria (a major rival of Morocco), the Moroccan Army had entered the northeast of the region on the 31st of October. As the marchers crossed the border, the Spanish Armed Forces were ordered not to open fire. Spain feared that challenging Morocco could result in greater political instability, or worse, a full-on colonial war. Spain instead agreed to enter negotiations with Morocco and Mauritania.
The Spanish Sahara was divided between Morocco and Mauritania by the Madrid Accords on the 14th of November. Mauritania withdrew from the Western Sahara in 1979 due to pressure from local rebels, leaving their territory to Morocco. The Green March was internationally condemned, though not by the US or France, who both had a distaste towards Algeria. The US remains the only nation which recognizes Morocco's full sovereignty over the Western Sahara.

, was originally written in 1851 by Stephen Foster, popularly known as "the father of American music". Throughout the 19th century, he wrote more than 200 songs, including common American folk songs such as "Oh, Susanna" and "Camptown Races".
Old Folks at Home has been the official song of the state of Florida since 1935. The song was written in the first person perspective of an African slave, at a time when slavery was legal in 15 of the American states. The word "darkey" used to be considered mild and polite, though it quickly took on a derogatory and provocative meaning, resulting in the word being officially replaced with "dear ones" in 2008, among other revisions.
This version was recorded by the Robert Shaw Chorale in 1959, and features the original, corrected lyrics.

From the Baltic to the Bering Sea, Russia has celebrated June 12th as a public holiday to pay tribute to the country’s identity and heritage since 1992.
The instrumental used in this anthem was initially written in 1939 by Alexandr Alexandrov for the State Anthem of the Soviet Union. After the dissolution of the Soviet Union, a national anthem for Russia was adopted. However, when President Vladimir Putin took power in 2000, a new hymn was adopted. Sergey Michalkov wrote new lyrics, and the original Soviet music of Alexandr Alexandrov was used again in a Russian hymn.

The exact age of this song is unknown; it was first referenced in 1856, though there are other versions dating centuries back. This (albeit more modern) version was recorded by Ancora in 2013. The first line means literally "sail to hijack", meaning privateering or commission sailing (privately owned ships who are hired by a government for use in war).

In the 16th century, the Low Countries were under the authority of the Spanish-Habsburg Empire. Between 1568 and 1648, they sought less taxation, more self-government, and religious tolerance from Spain; a struggle that transformed into a war of independence that became known as the Eighty Years' War.
Placing himself at the head of the revolt, Willem van Oranje needed soldiers to combat the formidable Spanish armies. He made diplomatic alliances, raised militias, hired mercenaries, and also turned his attention to a group of desperadoes and pirates known as the Watergeuzen (Beggars of the Sea).
From 1569, Willem van Oranje made official privateers of those who until then had been criminal pirates. Under the command of a succession of daring and reckless leaders, the Sea Beggars were transformed into an effective and organized fighting force against Spain.
This was the birth of Dutch privateering, a business that would one day grow to form a global empire and one of the most powerful naval forces in the world.
That morning, the smell of blood lingered in the hot summer air. The exact number killed may never be known, but estimates range from several hundred to several thousand.
Flowers of Freedom was written by Hong Kong artist Thomas Chow shortly after the protests. The song expresses shock, disbelief, and immense pain. But there is also steely determination, resilience, and hope to be found in its words. It is important not to forget the words, the people, and the enduring message of “flowers of freedom” from the events of China’s past and what it means for its future.

Today is forty years since the Battle of Goose Green during the Falklands War. The British success in this battle against an enemy force twice their size marked a turning point in the campaign. The battle demonstrated the UK's increasingly unquestionable military superiority, quelling concerns about possible defeat, and led to the release of 112 civilians who had been held hostage by Argentine forces for nearly a month.

Also known as the Patriotes War, this was a massive armed conflict between rebels and the British colonial government of Lower Canada (modern day Quebec). Some of the rebels were executed, while others were forced into exile to the United States and British colonies as far as Australia. UNITA was founded in 1966 by military leader Jonas Savimbi in order to fight the Portuguese forces that dominated Angola. The Angolan War of Independence lasted for 13 years, though after independence was won, Angola plunged into a brutal 26-year long civil war between UNITA and the MPLA, the ruling pro-communist social democratic party. The war lasted until 2002, and was one of the most terrible civil wars to mar the African continent. Although UNITA lost the civil war, to this day it remains the second most popular party in Angola.

Until its admission to the union in 1791, what is now the US state of Vermont was an independent nation. In 1777, Vermont declared its independence from all claims by New Hampshire, New York, and any British jurisdiction (An armistice between Vermont and the United Kingdom was signed in 1781). Vermont, however, did have plans to join the future United States, though this was blocked by the Continental Congress, due to its dispute by New York. Nonetheless, the Vermonters themselves fought alongside the revolutionaries of the Thirteen Colonies until all victory was won.
On this day, 10 May, 1775, the Green Mountain Boys led by Ethan Allen captured Fort Ticonderoga. Although the action itself was not a major offensive, the capture of the fort held massive strategic importance. British units to the north and south of the fort were cut off from any communication, and all armaments captured within Ticonderoga's walls were transported to Boston, where they would be used used in the 10-month long siege of the city that had begun less than a month earlier.

The Lobster War (Guerra da Lagosta) was a dispute over spiny lobsters that occurred from 1961 to 1963 between Brazil and France. The dispute began with French vessels fishing for lobsters 100 miles off the northeastern coast of Brazil, stating that it was legal as "lobsters swim". The Brazilian government refused to allow thism arguing that lobsters "crawl along the continental shelf." Both sides of the dispute deployed warships, with Brazil even dedicating three Air Force squadrons to the task. The dispute was resolved unilaterally by Brazil by extending its territorial waters to 200 miles outward, after which the French peacefully withdrew.
