I thought it should be preserved, given how closely it took place prior to the September 11 attacks.The music from this test is “Happy Jack (Underscore)” by Arch Bacon, and a user named Darma’s Music Archive posted it recently. I was always wondering where a full version of that song was, so go check that out.
Radio Disney EAS Required Weekly Test (March 29, 2021) SFS EAS 2023-10-26 | (RECORDING NOT MINE; credit goes to Radio Disney Archives)I was skimming through a 6 hour archived recording of Radio Disney for nostalgia, and I was a bit surprised to hear this about 5 hours in. To my knowledge, this might be the only Emergency Alert System test recorded from Radio Disney currently on the internet, and one of the last couple of ones to air under the Radio Disney name.This originated from KRDC AM 1110, Radio Disney Los Angeles, on March 29, 2021, a little over two weeks before Radio Disney was completely retired. There is some crosstalk from another station, but there was nothing that could really be done about it. NOAA Weather Radio | KIH58 Switches to BMH/Paul + Last CRS cycles & First BMH cycles SFS EAS 2016-06-28 | For timestamps of the events in this video, see below. This video contains audio of NOAA Weather Radio station KIH58's final 10 minutes with the Console Replacement System (CRS) and Tom's voice before switching to the new Broadcast Message Handler (BMH) with Paul's voice. The transition to this new broadcasting system was locally announced just a day prior on the National Weather Service in Birmingham's Facebook page. According to BMX (the technical initials for this office), the BMH had been successfully tested on the Birmingham (KIH54) and Montgomery (KIH55) stations and was ready to be implemented on the remaining Birmingham NWR stations which still had CRS. NOAA Weather Radio | KIH58 Announces Transition to BMH (6/27/2016) SFS EAS 2016-06-27 | See below for transcript.On June 27th, 2016, a message regarding an upcoming change to NOAA Weather Radio's broadcasting equipment was added to KIH58's broadcast cycle. The message, read by Tom (the current voice at the time) described what listeners could expect after the change occurred at noon the next day.Transcript:Upgrade scheduled for noon Tuesday. At noon on Tuesday, June 28th, the National Weather Service in Birmingham will complete the process of updating the software and systems that generates the messages for all NOAA Weather Radio transmitters in Central Alabama. The upgraded software has been successfully tested on the Birmingham and Montgomery transmitters, so the remaining transmitters will be upgraded as well on Tuesday. The upgrade to our NOAA Weather Radio systems is necessary to ensure broadcasts remain reliable, by replacing outdated hardware and software which was becoming obsolete and difficult to maintain. There is nothing that you will need to change on your NOAA Weather Radio receiver to continue receiving warnings, watches and forecasts from the National Weather Service. You will most likely notice a different voice when you listen to our broadcasts. It will take some time for our new voice to learn the proper pronunciations of some of the locations in Central Alabama, as well as some of the phrases we use in our area. If you hear mispronounced words or phrases, you can help "train" the new voice by contacting our office on our Facebook or Twitter accounts, or by calling directly at 205-664-3010 and press option 2.
