Julia Sets of the 2nd Power Mandelbulb Fractal - A Study Maths Town 2024-06-12 | A little bit more a of a mathematical curiosity for you in this video. There isn't much information published about these Julia Sets, so I thought I would publish a demonstration here. Just a simple render, with simple material; sometimes simplicity is nice.This video shows the Julia Sets of the Mandelbulb (2nd Power). Only the y and z coordinates are changing, so we see the set of symmetrical Julia Sets. Modifying the x coordinate introduces a twisting type motion, which is not shown. The coordinates are shown in cartesian and spherical form at the bottom. The parameter slowly spirals outwards through the video, meaning the sets become less dense as the video progresses.Once I do a little more coding, I will release the code I used to create this as a plug-in for Adobe & OpenFX. It is interesting to see what the AI thinks of fractals, and how it morphs through different images and forms as it morphs throughout the zoom. Sit back, zone out, and enjoy. This video is made with an AI known as Stable Diffusion 2. Fortunately for us, the creators of Stable Diffusion made it open source, so nerds like me can program it to make fractal videos. I think this is one of the first zooms in this style on YouTube, certainly this long. Unstable Orbits of the Mandelbrot Set (Orbit Splines) Maths Town 2023-03-12 | In this video we explore a hidden aspect of the Mandelbrot Set. For every single pixel in my videos there is an orbit. That is the path the value of z takes as we iterate over z=z^2+c. Normally, you don't see this, it is just something I calculate. In this video we use these values as control points to build a spline (curved line). Each spline represents a single point outside the Mandelbrot Set. Mandelbulb Power 2 - A 3D Fractal Tour (8k) Maths Town 2023-01-28 | A fist look at the Mandelbulb Power 2 fractal. When the search for a "3d Mandelbrot" was taking place, this fractal was dismissed as uninteresting and the 8th power Mandelbulb because the "standard". On closer inspection, I think this fractal is actually quite interesting, and this is my first attempt to render a high resolution video to reveal its all of its detail. It took about 10 weeks to render this video in 8k. I'm sorry about the distracting shadowing artefacts on the wider views, I should be able to fix this in a later render. There are also some other artefacts as I am forced to trade quality for render time. I really needed to use GPUs (3xRTX3090s) so it is only rendered at 32-bit which results in some artefacts.As usual, I strive to render simple but high-quality visuals at Maths Town. When it comes to fractals, I kind of think fractals can speak for themselves, and I consider the purpose of videos like this a kind of mathematical exploration. Spline-brot - The Internal Orbits of the Mandelbrot Set Maths Town 2021-10-18 | The Spline-brot is a new little concept I've developed using data from the orbits of The Mandelbrot Set. This needs to be watched in 4k otherwise the YT compression kills it. Each wire is a spline built using the orbits of points in the Mandelbrot Set. The points of the orbit act as control points to build a NURBS spline. Anyways, something new and a little random. A fun little experiment. Beauty of the Bulb - Mandelbulb 3D Fractal Tour (8k) Maths Town 2021-08-18 | The Mandelbulb 3D fractal in all its glory! Presented in stunning 8k!Still a few glitches, I'm not really sure how I am going to resolve that yet. Otherwise, I think the quality is pretty awesome. You can really see some of the detail in this one as simple lighting came out really nice. I said I wasn't going to make another 8k one, but I'm simply getting better results.
