Crazy Noisy Bizarre Town (Medieval Style) - Jojos Bizarre Adventure OP5 Nicholas The Bard - Anime Music Arrangements 2020-07-10 | Hark, what a quite quaint duwang! *chew*This time on my checklist of Jojo openings to do, I decided to arrange Crazy Noisy Bizarre Town - the result is what I would call "a very bizarre medieval disco-funk tavern remix" (I bet nobody in human history has ever said that phrase before). I tried experimenting with the stereo pan effects for a "call and response" sort of effect, if you have headphones on you may hear a slight interchange between the left and right side instruments (for example 0:01, 0:20 or 0:35). Additionally, the original song didn't have as much harmonic material as I would've liked so I did a bit of reharmonizing with adding and changing some chords. Finally, I once again substituted transitions to fit the instruments I had available (such as a chromatic descent to replace the electric guitar slide at 0:04).Also thanks for subscribing guys! Hacking to the Gate (Medieval Style) - Steins;Gate OP Nicholas The Bard - Anime Music Arrangements 2020-08-27 | This tune is what the bard at yond tavern plays when someone drinks apothecary pepper.How would a medieval Steins Gate world line work? Sending D-mails through carrier pigeons? Accidentally using a bread oven to jump world lines and cause World Crusade III? Anyways, lot of these questions popped up in my head as I tried arranging this - the opening from one of my absolute favourite shows, Steins;Gate. Probably the most challenging part was figuring out how to do the introduction section, since it's predominantly electric guitar oriented, so I had to change it up a bit by making it more arpeggiated. Oingo Boingo Brothers ED (Medieval Style) - Jojos Bizarre Adventure: Stardust Crusaders Nicholas The Bard - Anime Music Arrangements 2020-08-17 | BELIEVETH IT! I BELIEVETH! OINGO BOINGO BROTH'RSSince I haven't done any bardcore versions of anime endings yet, I decided to try something new and arrange Akuyaku Kyousoukyoku v1 from Jojo, also known as the Oingo Boingo Brothers Ending. The main challenge with arranging this was the original singers sometimes just talked/spoke their lines as "speech/dialogue", so the melody sometimes wasn't at a fixed pitch. In this case, I replaced these "speech" parts with chordal/ornamental fills (for example, at 0:05 or 0:53). In hindsight, this was a rather unusual ending to arrange, surprisingly giving me as much trouble as arranging Chase (though this definitely wasn't as hard as arranging Sono Chi no Kioku). Silhouette (Medieval Style) - Naruto Shippuden OP16 Nicholas The Bard - Anime Music Arrangements 2020-08-09 | NANIMOETH, NANIMOETHI decided to do another full version of an opening, this time arranging Silhouette from Naruto Shippuden (or as the meme community likes to call it, the filthy frank anime opening 1). Surprisingly, this was simpler than I initially thought - there are 3 melodic ideas that appear repeatedly throughout the piece, making it easier to go through. The first at 0:23, second at 0:43, third at the chorus 0:54. These three ideas are immediately repeated after a transition break at 1:16 (with some minor melodic variation/embellishments). Additionally, the introductory section is brought back at 2:10 before transitioning into the second melodic idea at 2:20, and the chorus again at 2:33. I decided to change the ending a bit, since the part that gave me the most trouble was transcribing the electric guitar solo at 3:23 and figuring out the harmonic support from the singer's line. In this case, I removed the vocalist's lines to put the solo in the spotlight, allowing me more freedom with the harmonic accompaniment. Chase (Medieval Style) - Jojos Bizarre Adventure OP6 Nicholas The Bard - Anime Music Arrangements 2020-08-03 | DOKO MADEMO CHASETH THEEHere's another highly requested arrangement - the Chase OP from Jojo. It's a very unusual opening to arrange in the medieval style, mainly because the original song is heavily based on the electric guitar/bass, which isn't the best to emulate on instruments like the lute. In this case, I opted for a softer and simpler approach rather than try to match a distorted guitar intro. What's cool is that the 0:00 melodic motif can be heard as a sort of ostinato accompaniment in 0:29 and 1:55. Also, the electric guitar solo at 1:09 was interesting to cover with a more acoustic instrument. The structure of this piece is actually pretty simple - the 0:59 chorus appears in the introductory section (at 0:08), and the motif at 0:02 is repeated at 0:20 and 1:25. Sono Chi no Kioku ~end of THE WORLD~ (Medieval Style) - Jojos Bizarre Adventure OP4 Nicholas The Bard - Anime Music Arrangements 2020-07-25 | "I can't did beat the horror out of thee without getting clos'r"Out of all the openings I've done this is by far the longest I've spent arranging one, and in my opinion, it's the hardest Jojo opening to "accurately" arrange. Firstly - the introduction in the original opening doesn't follow a strict tempo and is sung at a low register, making it harder to distinguish the notes (both melodically and rhythmically). I got around this problem by separating the two dialogues into the left and right headphones/stereo output (from 0:03 onwards). Secondly, the harmonies were rather sparse, so I added some extra chords in. I also love the Dio ZA WARUDO version of the opening, so I tried doing it for the memes through adding a transition segment at 1:14 - a rising chromatic passage that ends on an augmented chord. (And yes, I think the Za Warudo sound effect is how the B emoji would sound like, hence that edit at 1:11). It's a pretty straightforward song - the melodic material repeats multiple times, allowing for some cool variation with panning effects (such as 0:51 onwards). Also, an interesting thing to point out is that the TV-Size version of the OP differs from the full-length version because it includes the chorus in the introduction (the melody of 0:00-0:12), whereas the full version just starts off with guitar riffs. Traitors Requiem (Medieval Style) - Jojos Bizarre Adventure OP9 Nicholas The Bard - Anime Music Arrangements 2020-07-14 | "Thee just hath said six times five wast thirty, so wherefore on earth is thy answ'r coequal less?!"Another popular request form the previous video comments was Traitor's Requiem, so here's my version of it! I usually associate a requiem with death, a bunch of monks singing, and angelic harps. Since I couldn't find any monks (unfortunately), I instead decided to base a large portion of the melodic material with the harp as the foundation (such as the beginning and the buildup). Additionally, at 0:53 I experimented with putting the melody in the middle harp register while having a countermelody an octave higher to give a pretty cool effect. Finally, I tried a bass ostinato (starting 0:30) as the harmonic support just to see how it would go. Awaken - Pillar Men Theme (Medieval Style) - Jojos Bizarre Adventure: Battle Tendency OST Nicholas The Bard - Anime Music Arrangements 2020-07-07 | "PRITHEE AWAKEN, MINE OWN MASTR'S!"Since I've been arranging only anime openings so far, I decided to try something different - the iconic Pillar Men Theme. This was way more challenging than I thought it would be - first off, the singer in the original uses pitch bending and microtonal movement - which sounded very awkward to emulate on instruments like the lute, so I decided to replace a majority of the vocal interjections with an instrument buildup to make it more consistent. Similarly, I added some melodic material to the electric guitar solos (like at 0:48 and 2:04) and also fragment the theme at 2:15 and 2:37 to add more variance. Finally, I decided not to do a gigantic downward pitch glissando towards the end, but just end it on the high note. (Also on an unrelated note, I spent way longer than what anyone would think trying edit Kars' hair onto this image)Overall I'd say this was on a similar difficulty to my Stand Proud arrangement just because of how awkward some of the original vocal/electric guitar transitions were to emulate on other instruments. This time, I did a bit of experimenting by adding soft backing choir vocals as the harmony and melodic support, especially towards the end, similar to the original opening. I also had an idea to start the initial melody on a lower register on the lute, then have it passed along numerous instruments on higher registers. This was definitely the hardest one to arrange so far, mainly because of the slightly syncopated bass rhythms and how the instruments (like a lute) couldn't mimic the electric guitar transitions well (such as in 00:13 and 00:54), so I had to substitute some scales in.
