The Amada Colossos Resort in Rhodes, Greece Jennifer Jain 2021-10-23 | A few video clips taken on our recent stay at the Amada Colossos resort on the island of Rhodes, Greece. We spent a week here in October 2021 staying in a swim-up family room. We had shared access with nine other rooms to a lovely pool with views across the resort and out to see. The Amada Colossos Resort also features a large pool and separate waterpark. It has a private beach area and plenty of space for outdoor seating and dining.We really enjoyed our stay here and would definitely recommend it.

Building a Lego Mindstorms machine to farm Animal Crossing bells Jennifer Jain 2021-02-04 | This machine was built by my son using the Lego Mindstorms set 51515 Robot Inventor Robotics Kit. It holds a Nintendo Switch firmly in place while pressing the A button repeatedly for a controlled amount of time. This machine can be used for several different tasks in the Animal Crossing game. In this example we have used it to continually redeem Nook Miles for Bell vouchers that can then be exchanged at Nook's Cranny for Bells, a very profitable reason to collect Nook Miles. You can set the timer for your selected number of minutes then walk away and leave it, returning to an inventory stuffed with Bell vouchers. The machine incorporates a mechanism to hold the Nintendo Switch in place, as well as a sensor to check that the Nintendo Switch is there. The video includes footage of the machine in action, followed by a close up look so that you can see how it has been built.

This was my very first visit to a Disney park, and if you look carefully you can spot 13 year old me posing with Winnie the Pooh! The Warner Bros. Harry Potter Studio Tour at Christmas Jennifer Jain 2019-01-24 | Our visit to Hogwarts in the Snow - The Harry Potter Studio Tour all decorated for Christmas. It was my son's birthday, and he was invited to open the doors to the Great Hall which was fully decorated and set for Christmas dinner and the Yule Ball with some magical extras. Along with all the props and costumes we also saw how snow and fire are created for the special effects in the films, and it was even 'snowing' in the outside areas. La Brea Tar Pits and Museum, Los Angeles, California Jennifer Jain 2018-11-04 | A little video of our visit to the La Brea Tar Pits in Los Angeles and the Museum. The tar pits have preserved the bones of trapped animals from tens of thousands of years ago, and the museum is dedicated to researching the finds from the pits and displaying the specimens. Disney Magic Deluxe Inside Stateroom 2605 tour and review Jennifer Jain 2018-09-11 | In this video you can have a quick look around Stateroom 2605 on the Disney Magic cruise ship, where we stayed on our recent cruise to the Norwegian Fjords. It's a Deluxe Inside stateroom so there is no window, instead you have a large circular mirror to mimic a porthole. The cabin sleeps four people, with a generous sofa that converts to bunkbeds at night. The stateroom has two small separate bathrooms, one with a toilet and sink and the other with a bath/shower and sink, which is really handy when everyone is trying to get ready at once. Despite the room being fairly compact there is plenty of storage, with a large wardrobe containing a safe, a big drawer/cupboard unit, and several other drawers and cupboards around the desk. The bed is raised high enough to fit several suitcases underneath, and you could easily fit a stroller. The stateroom also has a fridge and a television. At night you can pull a curtain across to separate the two sides of the room and offer some privacy. We found the room to be quiet with very little noise from the corridor. At night I occasionally noticed some slight noise from what I would guess may be a service corridor along the back of the room, but it really wasn't a problem. We were lucky that on our cruise the waters were generally very calm, and I didn't particularly notice the motion of the ship while in the room.The room is situated at the aft of the ship which means that the elevator takes you straight up to Cabanas buffet if you want to eat breakfast or lunch there, and it's only a couple of floors to walk up to the three restaurants, or to get outside on Deck 4. It's also only one floor to walk down to the gangway, so it's quick to get on and off the ship on port days and you don't need to queue for the elevator. We chose an inside stateroom because it saved a significant amount on the cost of the cruise. It was fine for us as we don't tend to spend much time in the room, but it does mean that you miss the excitement of drawing back the curtains in the morning and seeing yourself docked somewhere new.If an inside cabin isn't for you, you might like to see my video tour of stateroom 1048 on the Disney Magic where we stayed on a previous cruise. Disney Cruise Adventures Away deck party held inside Jennifer Jain 2018-09-06 | On our recent cruise to the Norwegian Fjords from Dover on the Disney Magic cruise ship, the weather was so bad that the Adventures Away deck party had to be moved inside. Holiday to Center Parcs, Erperheide, Belgium Jennifer Jain 2018-04-03 | This Easter we spent a week at Center Parcs, Erperheide in Belgium, our third visit. I hope that you enjoy this video showing some of the things that we got up to! We stayed in VIP Cottage 514, and I've included a tour of our two bedroom accommodation and a look around the park. I've included a look around the Market Dome and on site shop, and you can also see us enjoying the Baluba soft play area, the farm, the Orry and Friends Show and the outdoor play areas. Ikea Micke desk with workstation time lapse assembly - how to build Jennifer Jain 2018-02-08 | Watch us assemble the Ikea Micke workstation - the basic Micke desk with the top add on unit which gives some extra shelves as well as a large magnetic whiteboard back board. Most of the assembly can be done easily by one adult, and you only need a second to help lift the top into place. As you can see my son had a great time organising all his bits and pieces and putting them on display! He particularly loves the magnetic back board as he collects magnets. We have a good amount of experience building Ikea furniture, and the desk didn't take too long to put together. This desk was for my son, but I also have the same desk for myself downstairs, and I find that it's a really good size, compact but with plenty of space. He will use his with a laptop eventually, and I use mine with a desktop PC. My monitor fits well into the desk space and my tower sits inside the cupboard with the shelves removed. There is a hole at the back of the desk to put the cables through, and a shelf underneath the desk to keep cables tucked away. You can place the shelves at different heights to suit your needs. Inside the large drawer we have placed a Summera drawer insert which has six compartments. It doesn't quite fill the large drawer, and you can also cut it to size to fit the smaller drawer using the cutting guidelines printed on the back. We bought a Vemund pen and eraser holder which has a strong magnet on the back to attach to the board and can be used to hold pens and pencils, it's really handy. Ikea Stuva assembly - how to build the loft bed, in time lapse! Jennifer Jain 2018-01-19 | Watch us as we assemble the Ikea Stuva bed. We are two adults along with two smaller helpers that pop in and out. You'll see that you really do need two adults to put the Stuva together, there is a lot of heavy moving and lifting involved. We have a reasonable amount of experience with building Ikea furniture and we didn't have too much trouble, although the assembly did take us most of the day. In fact there is no footage of the final stage, putting in the desk drawers, because it was completed in semi darkness while my daughter slept above us. Although the bed is designed to fit into a smaller space you really do need quite a large area to build it, and make sure when you are building that you have enough space to rotate the bed around to where you need it - we nearly got it stuck at one point! It definitely needs to be built in the room that you intend to use it, and as far as I'm concerned if we ever move house it's staying behind - it certainly won't fit out the door let alone down the stairs!We chose a configuration with the wardrobe on the inside and the desk out at an angle, as we were concerned that we didn't have enough space on the side to open the doors. As you can see we did have just enough room for a tall Ikea Trofast unit to the side. If you have the wardrobe doors facing outwards then the desk can fit directly underneath the bed, leaving more space in front. This loft bed was the ideal solution for my daughter's smaller room. She's at the age now where she needs a desk in her bedroom, and this was a great way to fit one in. She really loves her new bed! We also purchased a pink Stickat bed pocket which hangs over the side for her book and water bottle, and some Slakting inserts for the drawers to organise smaller items of clothing. Sentosa Island, Singapore for families Jennifer Jain 2017-11-20 | A little video showing some of the things that we got up to on our day at Sentosa Island, Singapore. We bought a Sentosa Day Fun Pass: Play 5 Attractions ticket which lets you choose any five places to visit from a list of twenty different attractions.We chose the Sentosa Merlion, the Trick Eye Museum, the S.E.A. Aquarium (which counts as two credits as you need to combine it with another attraction - when we visited it was the Royal Albatross Dockside Non-Sailing Tour) and a 2 hour slot at KidZania Singapore. We visited during term time in Singapore so it was very quiet. The only exception was KidZania which was very busy with school parties for most of the day. On the advice of staff we entered at around 3.15pm which was perfect as the school groups were just leaving and it was then almost empty. Go Ape Junior at Tilgate Park, Crawley Jennifer Jain 2017-07-30 | We were invited to experience Go Ape Junior at Tilgate Park in Crawley. My two children aged 6 and 8 completed the course by themselves while we supervised from the ground. There are two different courses that the children can try, course 1 is easier and shorter and course 2 is more challenging. Arundel Castle and Gardens, West Sussex Jennifer Jain 2017-05-16 | At the weekend we were invited to visit the picturesque Arundel Castle in West Sussex. No relation to the Arendelle Castle of Frozen fame (although I think that Mia was convinced), entrance to the castle includes a visit to the beautiful castle gardens, a tour of the spectacular castle rooms and bedrooms, and a chance to see the very oldest part of the castle, parts of which date from 1068, with lovely views across the downland and out to sea.We had just dug out our old digital cameras for the children so they had a great time snapping photos of the things that they saw. Alice Holt Forest, Surrey Jennifer Jain 2017-04-21 | Over the Easter holidays we spent a day at Alice Holt Forest near Farnham in Surrey. There is lots to do, including nature trails, a play ground, a play trail with huge wooden sculptures to climb and the chance to hunt for the Gruffalo! Gaston Farm Open Lambing, Slindon, West Sussex Jennifer Jain 2017-04-14 | We visited Gaston Farm this year for the open lambing. Iberostar Playa Gaviotas Park Hotel, Fuerteventura, Canary Islands Jennifer Jain 2017-04-11 | We have just returned from a week's holiday at the Iberostar Playa Gaviotas Park Hotel in Fuerteventura, and so I thought I'd put together a little video review. We stayed in April 2017 and booked a package holiday with Jet2 Holidays. There are three hotels in the Iberostar complex in Jandia - the Iberostar Playa Gaviotas Park, the Iberostar Playa Gaviotas and the Iberostar Fuerteventura Palace. You can use some of the facilities in the other hotels during your stay, for example the pools, but it's best to check directly with the hotel as to what is included. All the footage in this video is taken at the Playa Gaviotas Park with the exception of the Magic Show at the Playa Gaviotas. Our room (4125) was a Suite with a separate bedroom for the adults and living room with sofa bed for the children. It also had a small kitchen area tucked away in a cupboard with fridge, hob, sink and microwave. There was plenty of storage in the room and it felt very spacious. There was a large balcony too, and you can see the fantastic view from the balcony across the pools and out towards the sea.I'm terrible at taking video of the food but trust me there was a varied selection every night - there was more on offer than just the desserts that caught my eye with my camera!There was a mini disco for the children each night (on Saturday it only took place in the Fuerteventura Palace hotel) and also late night entertainment every night. At 9.15pm it was usually a little too late for our children, but we enjoyed Mamma Mia and the Magic Show.Jandia Beach is a few minutes walk from the hotel and it is really lovely. Jandia Beach, Fuerteventura, Canary Islands Jennifer Jain 2017-04-10 | We've recently returned from a lovely holiday to Fuerteventura, and I thought I'd share a little video of the beautiful Jandia beach which was just a few minutes walk from our hotel. The beach along the Jandia peninsula runs from Morro Jable to Costa Calma for approximately 21 km. We stayed at the Iberostar Gaviotas Park, and this video shows the short walk down the hill from our hotel to the beach, some views along the beach, and then some clips taken as we walked along the coastal path to the lighthouse. This more touristy area of the beach is also known as Playa de Matorral, and there are huge stretches of soft yellow sand and lovely shallow waters. The sea was a little too rough for swimming, but as the tide goes out it leaves behind large lakes of sea water which are perfect for little ones to play in. Along the top of the beach there are salt marshes which are protected areas, and so you access the beach itself along one of several board walks. A wide, smooth footpath and cycle path runs along the top, and there are plenty of little squirrels to watch out for which will come right up to you hoping for food. The lighthouse was just over 30 minutes brisk walk from the hotel, it took a little longer with children, and you also pass a small shopping centre with tourist shops. The natural whale skeleton is from an adult male great white sperm whale died due to natural causes and was stranded close by in 2004. The Debenhams Big Lego Challenge Jennifer Jain 2017-03-06 | We were challenged by Debenhams to come up with the most adventurous Lego creation that we could in just 15 minutes.Harry created a fantastic vehicle which picks out rubbish wrongly sent to the dump and removes it for recycling. Center Parcs De Vossemeren, Belgium Jennifer Jain 2017-02-26 | We spent February half term 2017 at Center Parcs De Vossemeren in Belgium. A family of four, we stayed for a week in VIP Cottage 251, which we chose as it is located very close to the Market Dome. The cottage has two bedrooms, a bathroom with bath and shower, a separate toilet, kitchen and living area.This video doesn't show the many hours that we also spent inside the Aqua Mundo indoor swimming pool (as I wasn't brave enough to take my camera inside!) Extra activities that we paid for - a Pony Ride for the children (4 Euros each for a short walk around), the Kid Safari (12.50 Euros for half an hour, two children can fit inside the car), Indoor Mini Golf (8 Euros per adult, 6 Euros per child, 25 Euros for a family), and the claw grabber machine (with a guaranteed prize each time!). We ate out twice at Nonna's Pizza e Pasta which was very nice. Discovery Bay indoor pirate play area at Center Parcs de Vossemeren, Belgium Jennifer Jain 2017-02-20 | We spent a week at Center Parcs de Vossemeren in Belgium, and one of the highlights of our stay was the indoor Discovery Bay pirate themed play area.
