This was really fun to do, but I nearly didn't make it 😩. I started playing with rough animator on the iPad late 2019, and around the same time I was reading boomcomics MMPR and Go Go series. I had an animation itch, so why not animate so many characters by myself...

Inspired by modern animated shows, with snappy 20-30s intros, as I felt that'd be manageable on my own. I'd do some things differently in retrospect, like being more ambitious with the cam moves, but it felt intimidating at the time. I'm also no background artist, so go easy on my shoddy back drops. This all started January 1st 2020, and I worked on this on and off (mostly off) throughout the year. My original rough cut (which was way too long) was done in roughanimator and the final cut you see today was done using callipeg - which won me over with their timeline and tools.
If I were to do a season 2 or even Zeo, I'd simplify the helmets more - they took so long! And play with a more cartoony style. Also, I don't wanna draw another diamond 😩😩

30th Anniversary fan animation. Please like comment and share (it's free!) Lets get some form of animated Power Rangers project officially made!

I had a lot of fun with this one, and was able to spend more time on it due to not having a job to pull me away.
Always fun to try new things and experiment with the art direction - the newest for me was stepping away from adobe products. I will not be going back for use on personal projects!

As usual the whole animation pipeline was done solo by yours truly, but pulled in some wonderfully talented people to bring it to life with some amazing audio. I appreciate all involved, thank you!

Another fun show from my childhood to reimagine as an animated series. I was inspired by Super Sentai oners/long takes, when a hero would have their moment before their team mate would come into shot and do their thing. Not to mention animated series like Batman, ThunderCats, TMNT, and The Lines STANR (the latter influencing the Virtualizer energy anim)
I wanted to differentiate between Virtual Reality and Reality - VR is full of Grimlord’s evil, corrupted in red. While Reality is Blue Sky’s and all appears to be normal. I pictured these worlds as Mirrors of one another.
Ziktor/Grimlord is a presence throughout looming over them, until Ryan literally leaps out from his evil, and they’re stood victorious.
I also wanted to have a Japanese OVA look and feel to connect to the Origins of the shows used for the Western version.
Lastly, I know Caitlin never used the Techno Bazooka - I wanted to give her something cool and to have her moment in the piece.

My fan project to celebrate the 30 year Anniversary of the Power Rangers!

I focused on three era's/Seasons I grew up with.

MMPR Season 2:
I went with a Western, Saturday morning cartoon art style here, but as if it were broadcast in the 90s

Zeo:
More of an Anime influence, again as if it were made in the 90s and it were a VHS tape

Space:
More contemporary - graphical style. A Genndy Tartakovsky inspired style

This was meant to be longer, but ran out of steam on it last year - but still serves as a peak into what I have in mind if I were to do an animated series for these guys. originally posted on Halloween (if you know the show, then...you know) on my other socials. Power Rangers the animated series - Green With Evil | Clip

My intent for this 'what if' follow up to my intro project was to create a promo clip before the season would start to generate intrigue and hype for the show, leaving you wanting more. I enjoyed coming up with a small narrative for this one - Tommy ain't playin'!

I was going to add sound FX and all that jazz, but I'm not an audio guy, and more importantly I'm lazy 😛 I found a great Go Green ranger cover by @Captain_meatshield on YouTube, which fills the void nicely.

If anyone has Hasbro's number, tell them to hit me up! 😅 A limited series would be dope 🤷🏾‍♂️
