Megaman X3 - Blame Kish
updated
This is just something based on an idea I had while in the car. STARDUST SONG can feel a lot like a Mega Man stage (especially the chorus), so I thought "yeah, I it'd be cool if I made this to see what it sounded like". Then, unlike most ideas in the car, I actually did it. The absolute mad lad.
Essentially, it's STARDUST SONG stylized like a stage in Mega Man, so it's not the entire song (though the intro does line up pretty nicely with the READY at the start of the stages). It's my first time really using Famitracker, and I'm not sure if I'll ever make something like this again. I just really wanted to, so there you go.

Please be gentle.
Wait, shit, I uploaded this video. Guess I have to upload the rest of the game now...
Don't worry, I'll get other Shanghai.EXE stuff out eventually. It just hasn't updated in a year is all. I'll probably upload stuff from other games in the meantime. I mean, I finally built a better computer, so I can do more now.
And so we reach the last boss of the v0.31 demo. I am very impressed by this fangame, as it combines elements from all across the Battle Network and Star Force games, such as the two versions of ADD, style selecting in the same vein as crosses and illegal data, and it tops it all off with a Touhou flavor. It even has its own mechanics such as how DocStyle maxes the custom window out at 12 rather than 10 and allows you to load in up to 6 chips instead of just 5 and how enemies hit by navi or other timestopping attacks do not flinch if they're paralyzed. This is clearly made by somone who loves Battle Network, and I'm very appreciative of the fact that he (or she) is making this game.
I decided to show off the folder and Add-On setup I used for most of it since this is the last video of it Shanghai.EXE that I'll be making for a while. I mean, I COULD do the SP and SP5 fights, but I won't bother doing those now as they're just the same as the V3 fights but faster, with more health and more damage dealt. Maybe at a later date.
(As an aside, after playing both this and Battle Network 6 Gregar in japanese, it's really weird to go back to playing these games in english. As another aside, I miss my Shanghai.EXE folder when playing the other games. So many good chips... ;-;)

And I'll actually provide the download link this time since you all have been so nice to me: http://www.geocities.jp/mahodenn/thlal.html

(I actually recorded this fight before the HakutakuMan fights, so that's why I still have FirstBarrier on and why my folder is a little different than my previous videos).
I guess I could talk about WingStyle since I've used it in a few videos. Basically, it gives you AirShoes and FloatShoes and a tornado charge shot that does elemental damage based on your element. It behaves just like the chips, so it does double damage on sand panels, too. Also, if you press A (or whatever you press to use chips) when you have no chips available, you disappear from the field until either three seconds pass or you move. You get this available once per turn every turn.
One of the other things I have is an add-on called ストックチャージ (Stock Charge) which lets you keep your charge when using chips. It's a pretty cool ability if you ask me.

SpannerMan's pretty cool. I like him.

Also, I get Neku's pass code from winning this fight. Neat.

She also has some shield attack that blocks attacks after she gets hit by blocking the panel in front of her (probably to block vulcans and the like) which, in later versions, then spawn on your panel and then goes through the panels behind you. This is pretty much taken directly from what she does in Silent Sinner in Blue.
Her second phase is activated when she hits half HP and activates カミオロシ (Kami Oroshi?) where her attacks now do damage of an element of whatever element your style is weak to that you were in when she activated it (which is why I changed to HeatWing, though in hind sight, I didn't really need to). She also uses フカシンエリア on her front column, becomes WAY more aggresive, does EvilCut after the wind burst, adds WideSword and CrossSword before doing LifeSword after her sonic boom, she can charge up a triple sonic boom like TribeKing's charge shot in Star Force 2 and can also charge up to basically do Bass' Darkness Overload attack, minus the panel cracking.
Holy crap, Yorihime's one tough and fun battle. Probably should have uploaded her stuff last, as the others will probably be anticlimatic compared to her, but whatever.

Also, I show off the SakuyaX chip which is gotten from the Crimson Program I talked about in the last video.
The X navi chips use the colors of the navi in their SP form which could be seen as the BN3 Omega or BN6 RV of this game. The SP forms of navis can only be accessed after finishing the demo, and if you talk to a maid program in the bonus room, you can change the V3 fights to either SP or SP5 (if you really want, they give the navis upwards of 3000 HP, so we're getting to Star Force silver star boss versions levels of HP there). I may or may not do the SP navis, but don't count on SP5 fights any time soon. Those are most definitely intended for post-game folders/add-on setups, and I don't really have the time nowadays to put into getting through them with this mid-game setup.
And if anyone is playing this and has finished the demo, Iku is in Rika's PC as Tenshi's in the hospital after the PyroMan scenario.

There's not much to the Shrine comps. It's like the BlastMan comps in BN6, but instead of standing behind cubes to avoid the fire attacks, you just need to stand on the tan platforms before the screen turns red. Then you just run around trying to find two halves of a yin-yang symbol to open the door. Pretty simple.
I can't really say much about PyroMan because of how this fight went. I'm going to have to try to find him on the net to get a better idea on how he fights, but he seems to fight like HeatMan? You do get to see me not use LeafDoctor style, obviously because he's a fire navi.
And so we reach the end of the demo. All that's left is V2/V3 fights, really. There's a bonus area that's unlocked after finishing this scenario that has gauntlet fights and whatnot, but I won't be covering those. I might move on to the Chrono X demo after I get all the V2 and V3 fights here on YouTube. Also, supposedly this is the last demo before the developer puts out the full version of the game, so who knows when that'll be. He said that saves can be transferred, so when that moment comes, I'll pick up where I left off. There's one other thing cool about this game that I'll try to show off in the other fights, but if I don't get to show them off, I'll just tell you.

Contrary to what you might think about a navi named after a tortoise, he's actually pretty fast. He caught me quite off-guard with how quick he was moving. He calls rocks down, he crates mud waves and rocks and he spins around the the field. He might have other things, but I interrupted a bit of his stuff. Again, another great fight.
No Sunayama twist at the end of it (though it is kinda funny how at the end of this GP, we fight a ground element navi, and DesertMan would probably be ground element if it existed in BN3), but I got 100k zenny and, judging by the music files, a cruise ticket from winning the grand prix, so it wasn't a complete waste of time. HakutakuMan, SpannerMan and TortoiseMan are now fightable whenever now, so that'll be fun.
I'm assuming what's next is the dungeon for chapter 4, so it'll interresting to see how that goes.

An original character with an original navi. He's pretty cool. I like his design. Clearly one who does metal working. He has shockwaves, can crack your panels, has GospelBreath and some other attack I broke. He'll be a fun one for future fights, I can tell. I hope he ends up getting SuperArmor like TankMan did.
Those double program advances, though.

Now that we have a character from the music CDs, we have characters from basically every source of Touhou: both PC-98 and Windows games, printed works and now music CDs. Heck, even original characters are in here. I'd be suprised if Rin Satsuki doesn't show up in some capacity.

This is Keine's navi, HakutakuMan, another navi original to this game. Keine (supposedly, according to her role in Touhou) runs a school in Eien City, but she netbattles as well. HakutakuMan's not much of a threat to start with, but when his HP gets low enough, he Beasts Out and starts jumping everywhere and changes from a wood element to a fire element. Pretty sneaky. I can seem him being fun in future fights.

In case you didn't know, Yorihime is from the Silent Sinner in Blue manga which was written by ZUN, and it's pretty good. Read it if you want to know what she's about, since it kinda comes into play in the fight. Jeez, this game covers everything. The Windows games, the PC-98 games (there's even a flashback where Alice is in her PC-98 outfit when she was younger) and even the printed works all have characters showing up here. One character I didn't mention that appears inthe game is the teacher who's Rikako Asakura from Phantasmagoria of Dim.Dream, one of them PC-98 games.
Reisen and Yorihime take the roles of Chaud and ProtoMan, up to Yorihime calling Reisen "ma'am" much like how ProtoMan called Chaud "sir." She also uses her sword which reflects what she does in SSiB. It was a good fight, and I look forward to fighting her again.
Oh yeah, here's the link to the creator's blog that I've been keeping to myself: http://touhoualive.blog124.fc2.com
The download link should be there somewhere.
But seriously, there's no downside to using Dark Chips in this game. They're like the Dark Chips in BN5 where you can stick them in your folder and use them as regular chips. The only thing I've noticed is that having one in your hand causes your emotion window to overwrite to be dark mode, so you can't full-syncro these things. Oh well.
You get to see more of Iku's moveset here. She can shoot lightning balls like CloudMan, she does thunder bolt attacks and stays in the back row like ThunderMan, she uses DrillMan's main drill rish attack at low HP, and she even uses an electric DrillArm after her lightning bolt attacks if you're close enough.
Tenshi and Rika are besties, by the way.
So a lot of shit happens in this scenario. We get introduced to Tenshi and some blue haired boy (who may or may not be her brother? I never caught his name), we find out that Sanae is a reporter like Ribbita (but she doesn't have her own navi, or at least not yet), we meet Reisen who seems to be playing the role of Chaud with Yorihime (from the Silent Sinner in Blue manga) as her navi (which is really hilarious when you consider the relationship they have in the Touhou canon), we explore the underneet and find out that dark chips are a thing as well as the virus breeder. Or at least something like the virus breeder. You capture viruses like you would a Pokemon by throwing a Virusball chip at it. You can then summon it to aid you in battle and feed it bug frags or the other things you get by beating enemies with a counter to make it stronger. It's pretty neat.
This dungeon takes place in the school like NumberMan's scenario in BN1, but without the trivia questions. This gimmick is simply "push button, open path," kinda like ElecMan's scenario, but without the batteries and power management. The neat thing about it is that you get to see Marisa, Sakuya, TankMan and SpannerMan (blue-haired boy's navi) around the dungeon trying to find their way, so your friends actually DO something (story-wise, anyway, not so much gameplay-wise).
Which leads us to Iku, Tenshi's navi. She's kinda like ThunderMan meets DrillMan, but my folder's a bit too good for her V1 fight, so the future fights will make up for it. She also cannot be paralyzed, so things like ElecChain and Paralyze+ chips won't paralyze her. She ends up hanging out with Rika, so we can fight her whenever which is nice.
Pretty good scenario with a lot going on. I hope the fourth scenario doesn't take me a year to do...
Anyway, his new stuff involves him getting SuperArmor. That's always fun. His gattling gun attack also has a round going in the reverse direction, so you get that to deal with, too, on top of any missiles he sent flying at you beforehand. Good stuff.
I also got hit and still got an S-Rank. K. Now to figure out what the hell I was doing a year ago.
Good game.
Just one boss to go.
I now realize that I hold that opinion for a lot of DS3's bosses. There's only a few I don't really like.
Speaking of bosses, I've heard the boss after this guy is about as hard as Champion Gundyr, so I'll leave him until after the last Lord of Cinder.

I actually fought this boss when I was doing co-op when Vordt was the boss I had yet to beat and it killed me in one hit. That's a thing that can happen, apparently.
Also, holy shit, the sun at the high wall is bleeding.
Also, enjoy my as-of-now final armor set. Very similar to what I used in DS1, but the Silver Knight chestplate in this game doesn't look good with the Catarina helm.
Also, I'm going to make it a thing where I show all of the times I died at a boss so you understand. Since this is the first guy to kill me more than once, I just want to let you guys know. Deadons of the Deep killed me once, but I didn't think to do this until after the fact, so whatever.
The Black Knight Greatsword drop was totally a reward for that.
It only killed me once, though, so maybe I just got lucky.

(This isn't a normal thing that happens, so don't think this is the next Sonic '06 or anything. The game's actually pretty good, but I found it a little bit disappointing)
I left in my first attempt so you guys can understand how my Dark Souls fights usually end up going. They usually go:
1) Do very well and knock off 3/4 of their health bar
2) Slip up and get hit, so go to heal
3) Get hit right after healing
4) Panic
5) Die
Vordt isn't that bad, really. Can't wait to see what the rest of the game has to offer.
I'll probably do more Bloodborne stuff so you all don't think I'm dead. Not like I need to think about recording beforehand on this thing.
Also I'm not dead.
Also ShareFactory kinda sucks, but it'll be nice when KH3 comes out.
Enjoy my second attempt at Vicar Amelia, I guess. The Excalibur-in-the-stone weapon is probably the best weapon ever.
Anyway, a new version of Shanghai.EXE came out a couple days ago which adds a new scenario after the last demo (which came out way back in January) left us off at the ability to get StyleChanges. And I just noticed that version 0.20 came out as I was uploading this, but I doubt Sakuya changed much. I'll hopefully get any new bosses recorded just as soon as I figure out where to go. Thankfully the creator of this game's been uploading walkthrough videos on niconico, so I could just follow that.
Anyway, this video is worth uploading because not only did I S-rank Sakuya, but she's been given some new attacks. Now she can use ShadowMan's AntiDamage attack to throw three knives where you are, and she can now also surround you with two knives either horizontally or vertically, so now she's even more annoying since she still doesn't attempt to target you when she uses her basic knife throw! She also now leaves red after images when she moves.
Too bad she's weak to sand in her eyes. Then again, a lot of things are. Also, invis lasts a rediculously long time in this game.
