You’ll want to start by removing the old seal and bearing race using a seal puller, a punch, and a hammer.
For our purposes, we already have the old seal and bearing race removed from the hub.
Before beginning, always check the hub surface for any damage that may prevent the race or seal from being installed properly.
To install a bearing race, match the tapered side of the driver from the bearing race driver set with the new bearing race and install the driver on the end of the handle with the tapered portion facing out.
Line up the new race with the housing, being careful to center it.
(Lower third: It may help to put the new bearing race in the freezer for about an hour to shrink it slightly)
Using your hammer or mallet and the race installer, gently tap the race into the housing until it is flush.
Now you’ll want to install your greased wheel bearing, since it will be locked in place once the wheel seal has been installed.
To install a wheel seal, choose the driver that is closest to the diameter of the seal… and assemble the driver with the handle with the flat portion facing out.
Line up and center your new seal.
(Lower third: A small amount of wheel bearing grease on the outside edge of the seal can help simplify installation)
Then, using a hammer or mallet, gently tap the new seal into place until it bottoms out.

Shock absorbers and struts, or strut assemblies, are hydraulic components that help to support a vehicle and dampen movement for a quieter, more comfortable ride. Shocks and struts may be charged with oil or air, and are designed to compress when the suspension articulates to prevent excessive suspension and vehicle movement and lessen the effect of impact. Every vehicle on the road today has shocks, struts, or a combination of the two, and these components can wear out over time due to use, disuse, and road or environmental conditions.

Shocks and struts are often talked about together, because they provide stability for your vehicle when you brake, corner and accelerate. So, how are shocks and struts the same—and how are they different? Can you tell when they’re worn out, and is it dangerous to drive on them once they do go bad?
Let’s start with a few basics. Shock absorbers—or shocks, as they’re commonly called—provide a smoother, quieter ride for passengers. They’re not essential to the structure of your suspension, but help make the ride more comfortable. Struts, on the other hand, provide structural support to your vehicle’s suspension and alignment, making them a more necessary component not only for your comfort, but also your safety. Many modern vehicles are equipped with struts in the front and shocks in the rear.
Because shocks and struts are built to absorb a significant amount of impact over thousands of miles of driving, it can be difficult to tell when they’re worn out, since it happens so gradually. Generally speaking, if you find that your vehicle nosedives excessively when you brake, “squats” when you accelerate, or sways excessively when you corner, you may have components that are worn out. As shocks and struts age, it’s common to experience less control or excessive body and tire movement, especially at higher speeds, which can be dangerous.
It’s not a bad idea to have your shocks and struts inspected by a professional technician every fifty thousand miles or so to check for any extreme signs of physical wear and to make sure they’re operating in a way that will keep your vehicle stable and safe on the road.

Once you’ve got your supplies together, here’s what you’ll do:
Pop the hood… and locate the first bulb you want to change.
The low-beam bulbs on each side should be toward the outside of the engine compartment.
Press the tab on the wiring harness to disconnect it from the bulb.
Turn the bulb counterclockwise to slip the bulb’s tabs out of the assembly… and remove the bulb.
When you install the new bulb, be sure not to touch the glass of the bulb with your bare fingers.
Finger oils or grease can create hot spots on the bulb that can cause it to burn out prematurely.
The new bulb will have tabs that slip into the
assembly… then turn it clockwise to secure it.
Click the wiring harness back into place once the bulb is secure in the assembly.
It’s always recommended you change headlight bulbs
in pairs, so repeat these steps on the other side.

Part of maintaining your Toyota Camry includes replacing the engine air filter for optimal performance. Your Camry’s air filter traps dirt, debris, soot, and other airborne contaminants before it enters your vehicle’s engine. This helps to maintain engine performance and fuel economy, though the air filter can clog and offer reduced protection and performance over time. Completing an air filter replacement on your 2012 to 2017 Toyota Camry is a straightforward and routine maintenance task, and is a great way to keep your engine healthy and running its best. It’s normally recommended you replace a 2012-2017 Camry’s air filter every 15,000 to 30,000 miles, but your Toyota’s service’s manual includes the manufacturer’s recommended replacement interval. Dusty or polluted environments may also call for more frequent engine air filter changes to maintain fuel efficiency and optimize engine performance. Signs that your Camry needs a new engine air filter include reduced fuel economy, engine misfires, strange noises coming from the engine, or the smell of fuel when starting your car. Simplify your 2012 to 2017 Toyota Camry’s engine air filter replacement with these detailed instructions and step-by-step video from O’Reilly Auto Parts.

Your Toyota Camry’s oil filter traps contaminants in circulated motor oil before it’s sent throughout your car’s engine. Regularly changing your 2012-2017 Toyota Camry’s oil and oil filter, as well as adding fresh oil, is a routine car maintenance task that can extend your vehicle’s engine life and improve overall performance. Dirty, contaminated oil or a clogged oil filter may cause reduced engine performance, metallic, ticking or metallic sounds coming from the engine, or if not addressed, severe engine damage or seizing. Most vehicle manufacturers recommend oil change intervals of between 3,000 to 5,000 miles, but your Camry’s owners manual will provide the manufacturer’s recommended interval. Our detailed instructions and video can help you perform an oil change on your 2012-2017 Toyota Camry to keep your routine maintenance up-to-date and your car on the road as long as possible.

The cabin air filter in your Toyota Camry helps trap airborne contaminants such as dust, dirt, and debris before it reaches your car’s cabin to minimize allergens and supply clean, fresh air to your Camry’s heating and air conditioning systems. Removing and replacing your 2012-2017 Toyota Camry’s cabin air filter is a routine automotive maintenance task that helps improve overall air quality and airflow for a more enjoyable ride. It’s commonly recommended that you change your Toyota Camry’s cabin air filter every 15,000 to 20,000 miles or annually, but you should consult your Camry’s service manual for exact replacement intervals. You may also need to replace it more frequently if you notice low airflow through the vents or odors in the cabin. Failing to replace your Camry’s cabin air filter can allow the filter to clog, which may result in an odor coming from your car’s cabin vents or affect A/C system performance. Maintain clean cabin air with our helpful instructions on how to replace the cabin air filter on a 2012-2017 Toyota Camry so you and your passengers can breathe freely.

Your Subaru Outback’s tail lights help other drivers see that you are in front of them, and some tail light bulbs also have a second filament that illuminates your brake lights or turn signals when appropriate to maintain proper visibility and signal your vehicle’s direction. It’s recommended that you replace both tail light bulbs on your 2010 to 2014 Outback at the same time, even if only one bulb has failed, since the bulbs are likely the same age and are likely to fail or burn out around the same time with equal use. Like most electrical components, your tail light bulbs, fuses, or even the switches inside your vehicle can fail over time with constant use, so be sure to perform a complete diagnosis and make needed repairs to your lighting and electrical system before they become a larger safety concern. These detailed instructions will help you replace the tail light bulbs on your 2010 to 2014 Subaru Outback to keep you and others safe on the road.

How to Change the Taillight Bulbs on a Subaru Outback
2010 to 2014 Subaru Outback
Taillight Bulb Replacement
Park on a level surface.
Make sure your lights are turned off… and open the back hatch.
Use your Phillips screwdriver to loosen the two tabs securing the panel at the inside of the tail light assembly… then remove those tabs.
Pry the panel free with a flathead screwdriver or trim tool… and set it aside.
The tail light assembly itself is secured by two fasteners that can be removed with either your Phillips head screwdriver or a ratchet and 10mm socket.
Once those are removed, pull on the assembly gently and directly toward the rear of the vehicle to disengage it from the tabs on the body.
Be careful when the assembly comes loose… there will still be wires attached to the bulbs.
To remove the bulbs from the back of the assembly, turn each one counterclockwise… and lift them out carefully.

Your 2002-2008 Dodge Ram 2500’s thermostat helps regulate your truck’s engine temperature by closing to allow coolant to reach operating temperature and transporting coolant back to the radiator for cooling as needed. Thermostats are designed to open at close at specific operating temperatures and may fail over time. Thermostats can become stuck in the open or closed position, causing coolant to flow without restriction and slow the time to reach operating temperature or become stagnant and overheat. Performance issues in your Ram, failure to reach operating temperature in a timely manner, and a malfunctioning or non-working heater may point to a thermostat that is stuck open. A thermostat that is stuck closed will typically lead to overheating and may cause a blown head gasket, warped cylinder heads, or other engine and cooling system damage. If your Ram 2500’s thermostat housing, thermostat, or thermostat gasket is failing, you may also experience coolant leaks and may notice a puddle of coolant beneath your truck. It’s a good idea to replace a failing thermostat and thermostat housing to prevent coolant leaks that can lead to engine seizing, damage, or failure. These step-by-step instructions and video will help you perform a thermostat housing and thermostat replacement on your 2002-2008 Dodge Ram 2500 the right way for a lasting repair.

Your Chevy Equinox’s brake pads and rotors are integral parts of the braking system that help slow your vehicle down when you apply the brakes. The brake pads push against your Equinox’s brake rotors to slow the spinning wheels and help to stop your vehicle smoothly. Replacing worn brake pads and rotors on your 2010 to 2016 Chevy Equinox is a straightforward repair that can help ensure you are able to drive safely. If you need to replace your Equinox’s brake pads and rotors, you may hear squealing or grinding sounds when braking, or you may experience pulsing or vibrations in the brake pedal. It’s recommended that the brake pads and rotors on both sides of your 2010 to 2016 Chevy Equinox be replaced at the same time, since the pads and rotors have been used for the same amount of time and they are likely to wear out at the same interval. Failing or malfunctioning brake pads or brake rotors can cause problems with braking distance and handling in your Chevy Equinox and could put you and others in danger. Our detailed step-by-step instructions will help you perform a brake rotor and brake pad replacement on your Chevy Equinox.

Your cabin air filter is behind your glove box, so start by emptying your glove box.
On the outside of the compartment toward the passenger door, slip the dampener off its post.
Press in on both sides of the glove box to release it from its stops… and lower it.
Behind where the glove box was, on the filter cover, you’ll see tabs on the right and left that you’ll squeeze to detach each side to remove it.
Slide the old filter out of the housing.
Clean any debris from inside the housing before installing your new cabin air filter.
Install the new filter with the airflow arrow pointing downward.
Reinstall the cover, making sure it snaps into place on both sides.
Raise the glove box until it reengages with the stops on both sides.
Reattach the dampener on the outside of the compartment.
Replace any items you took out of your glove box… and close it.

Your Subaru Outback’s fuel filter traps and removes sediment and debris from your vehicle’s fuel supply to avoid a clog in your diesel fuel injectors. Changing your 2010 to 2014 Subaru Outback’s fuel filter is a simple task that can improve fuel economy, speed, and engine performance. It’s recommended that you change your Subaru Outback’s fuel filter every 20,000 to 40,000 miles, but your vehicle’s service manual will detail the manufacturer’s maintenance intervals. A clogged fuel filter can cause your vehicle to shake when idling, struggle to accelerate at lower speeds, and can even cause your Subaru Outback to have trouble starting or running. Our detailed step-by-step instructions will help you perform a fuel filter installation on your 2010 to 2014 Subaru Outback to help keep your vehicle running at its best.

The brake pads and rotors on your 2004 to 2011 Ford Focus help slow your vehicle down when you apply the brakes. As the brake pedal is depressed, the brake pads are pushed into the surface of the rotors, which slows the wheels or prevents them from turning to stop your Ford. Grinding or squealing sounds when braking or vibrations felt in the brake pedal are signs that your vehicle needs a complete brake job, including new brake pads, hardware, and rotors. It’s recommended that you replace your Ford Focus’ brake pads and rotors at the same time, since they have likely been exposed to the same amount of use and wear out at the same interval. Failing brake pads and rotors can affect braking distance and cause poor or unsafe handling in your Ford Focus that could put you and others in danger. Our helpful, step-by-step video and instructions can help you perform a complete brake job on your 2004 to 2011 Ford Focus.

Your 2010 to 2014 Subaru Outback’s headlights help you see where your vehicle is headed, and can improve your visibility during poor weather or at night. Working headlights help you avoid a traffic ticket, and you will see better and drive safer when you replace a dim, flickering, or burned out headlight bulb. It’s recommended that you replace headlight bulbs in pairs on your 2010 to 2014 Subaru, even if only one is underperforming, since they are likely the same age and will typically burn out around the same time. Bad headlight bulbs make it hard for other drivers to see your Outback on the road, which can put you and others in danger. These step-by-step instructions from O’Reilly Auto Parts can guide you through a headlight bulb replacement on your Subaru Outback so you can see and be seen clearly on the road

Park on a level surface… and turn your steering wheel away from the side where you’ll be working.
Use your flathead screwdriver or trim tool to remove the tabs securing the wheel well cover.
With the tabs removed, you should be able to move the cover out of the way enough to see the back of the headlight assembly, but you may need a flashlight to see clearly.
Your low beam bulb is behind the circular plastic cover.
Turn the cover slightly counterclockwise to disengage it… and remove it.
Pull gently on the wiring harness at the back of the bulb to unplug it from the bulb itself.
The wire clip securing the bulb can be slipped out of the notch holding it in place, and should then hinge out of the way.
Now, the bulb can be removed.
Take note of the bulb’s orientation as you remove it… there’s a tab on the bulb itself that will fit into a specific slot on the housing.
Be sure not to touch your new bulb with bare fingers.
Finger oil or grease can create hot spots on the glass that significantly shorten the lifespan of the bulb.
Lift it into place, making sure the tab slips into its slot on the housing.

The air filter in your Ford Focus helps trap and eliminate contaminants from the outside air before it reaches your vehicle’s engine. Replacing the air filter in your 2004 to 2011 Ford Focus is a simple routine maintenance task that can improve gas mileage and overall performance. It is commonly recommended that you replace the air filter in your Focus every 10,000 to 20,000 miles, but your Ford’s owner’s manual includes the manufacturer’s maintenance recommendation. If you frequently drive in especially dusty or polluted environments, it may also be a good idea to replace your engine air filter more frequently than recommended. Signs that you may need a new air filter include odd engine noises, misfiring, poor fuel economy, or if you smell gas when starting your Focus. Make replacing your 2004 to 2011 Ford Focus’ air filter easier with these step-by-step instructions and video from O’Reilly Auto Parts.

The cabin air filter in your Toyota Prius helps trap and remove contaminants like dust, dirt, allergens, and soot from the outside air before it enters your vehicle’s cabin, ensuring clean air for your A/C and heating system. Replacing your 2010 to 2015 Toyota Prius’ cabin air filter can also help improve A/C system performance and airflow. Symptoms of a dirty cabin air filter include odors from the vents, air conditioning issues, or an overall lack of airflow. If you’re unsure when you should replace your Prius’ cabin air filter, check the owner’s manual for the recommended replacement and maintenance intervals. Many vehicle owners choose to replace their cabin air filter annually, but you may need to replace it more frequently if you often drive your Prius in especially dusty environments or if you notice any symptoms of a clogged cabin air filter. Minimize allergens and breathe easy by replacing the cabin air filter in your 2010 to 2015 Prius with these detailed instructions.

Your Ford F-150’s tail lights help alert other drivers that you are in front of them, and are required to keep your truck legal and safe on the road. Some tail light bulbs have a second filament that illuminates your brake lights, tail lights, or turn signals for proper visibility and safe driving. It’s recommended that you replace both of the tail light bulbs on your 2015 to 2020 F-150 at the same time — even if only one bulb has failed — since the bulbs are likely the same age and can become dim or burn out around the same time. These detailed instructions will help you perform a tail light bulb replacement on your 2015 to 2020 Ford F-150 to keep you, your truck, and others safe on the road.

Park on a level surface… and lower the tailgate.
On the inside of the tail light assembly, you’ll see two 5/16 bolts that can be removed with a ratchet and socket.
Once the bolts are removed, pull the assembly straight back toward the rear of the truck to protect and disengage the plastic tabs holding it in place.
To keep from having to prop up or hold the assembly and change the bulb at the same time, turn both bulb sockets counterclockwise to remove them from the assembly… then set the assembly aside.
Work the bulb you need to change gently out of its socket.
Install the new bulb in the socket.
Lift the assembly back into position… and secure the sockets by turning them clockwise back into place.
Align the tabs of the assembly… and press it in firmly toward the front of the truck.
Reinstall the two bolts with your ratchet and socket.
Close the tailgate.

The brake pads and rotors on your 2010 to 2014 Subaru Outback are used to slow your vehicle down when you apply the brakes. As you press down on the brake pedal, your Subaru’s brake pads are pushed against the rotor’s surface, slowing the wheels for a controlled stop. If you notice vibrations in the brake pedal, or hear grinding or squealing noises when braking, or if your steering wheel shakes when you brake, these are signs your Subaru needs a complete brake job that includes new brake pads, rotors, and brake hardware. Since your Subaru’s brake pads and rotors likely have been exposed to the same amount of use and are likely to wear out at the same interval, it’s recommended that you replace the brake pads and rotors on both sides of the vehicle at the same time. Driving with worn or damaged brake pads and rotors can negatively affect your Subaru’s braking performance, extend braking distance, and may cause unsafe handling conditions that could put you in danger. Our helpful, step-by-step video and instructions can help you perform a complete brake job on your 2010 to 2014 Subaru Outback.
