Sci 2018-05-06 | I wasn't intending for this to happen, I promise.I guess this is sort of a joke video, someone in the Calamity Discord jokingly mentioned using Keybrand against Leviathan.Lesson learned; don't give Sci any ideas.Siren and Leviathan are a fun pair. Siren makes this fight harder than it should be; either you kill her quickly, or she overwhelms you with projectiles, on top of Leviathan's boulders. Not fun.I originally completed this challenge without the Cross Necklace, but that was on normal mode. It seemed a bit... too easy, especially with the Keybrand. So instead, I took it up a notch and did it on expert mode.It was quite a challenge then, but eventually I realized the Cross Necklace would give me better sustain than the Charm of Myths since I got hit so much. I then only switched to the Charm of Myths for a second just for the sake of potion cooldown.Once again, open accessory slot to compensate for Wing Slot.Loadout used:Beetle armor (Scale Mail)Menacing Master Ninja GearLucky Celestial ShellLucky Fire GauntletLucky Ankh ShieldLucky Cross NecklaceLucky Fishron Wings.And once again, everything vanilla.My original plan was to surprise everyone and use Nebula armor for this challenge. The Nebula Boosters spawn when using any form of attack, even if it's not magic. On top of that, the buff boosters increase all damage by up to 45% as well as provide rapid regenerating which would've rendered me nearly unstoppable despite using a pure melee weapon.But for some reason that I will never understand, the Keybrand of all things doesn't trigger the buff boosters. Fancy that.
Dont Mess With the Spectre... Sci 2018-05-03 | Can otherwise be known as 'Don't Mess With the Mage' or 'Don't Mess With 1.2'.That's right, in this episode, it's ghost versus ghost as two legions of spirits fight for their freedom from the Dungeon. In this corner, a vanilla 1.2 Mage and his wisps, equipped with Spectre armor and mostly Dungeon and Fishron weapons. In the opposing corner, Calamity mod's Polterghast; a legion of souls slain by the tyrant king Yharim who were never put to proper rest.I decided to copy my 1.2 Let's Play character into Tmodloader, and build a nice Dungeon arena filled with every Dungeon decoration possible. I also fixed up a bit of his loadout and geared him for action once more; he needed to be free from the lost souls of old Terraria characters, after all.Let it be known that Polterghast is another post-Moon Lord boss in the Calamity mod. A proper modded character would be using armor and weapon sets even better than the endgame vanilla sets for this battle.I may have forgotten to disable the Wing Slot mod so I left one of his accessory slots empty to compensate. I kinda forgot to show off the loadout so I'll list his setup here:Menacing Star VeilMenacing Destroyer EmblemLucky Celestial CuffsMenacing Frostspark BootsMenacing Fishron Wings.I really liked 1.2's magic class. There's something to appreciate when it comes to the Dungeon staves especially. They're just, cool. So I decided to finish the fight with my personal favorite, the Spectre Staff.Polterghast sure is good at catching you off guard when you think you have him down. He can fill the screen with phantoms and bullets when his health gets low enough. Luckily, he ain't no Devourer of Gods; I caught on to his pattern and beat him on my fourth try or so, and recorded a few more attempts afterwards. Unlike Devourer who ate up well over 300 deaths... u.uI realized Polterghast isn't immune to the Ichor debuff, so off I went spraying him and making sharp circles around him while I DPS him down with the Bubble Gun, the best weapon in my arsenal in terms of DPS. It was interesting, learning that I had a better change against him up close rather than from afar. And when I got hit, I'd just spray him again, launch out a lasting attack like the Rainbow Gun or Magnet Sphere, and switch to the Spectre Hood while the boosted attack heals me back up. Then it's back to damage mode.I had fun making this one regardless. I was a bit surprised by how easy Polterghast was compared to Devourer. Even though I'm using a much weaker character than my Summoner. Just goes to show you; don't underestimate the freaking Mage.And no I'm not doing that on expert mode.
Starbound Unused Track - Forest Loop Sci 2018-04-28 | This is apparently a track hidden deep within Starbound's game assets. It's called 'forest-loop', but it only lasts about a minute and a half... so I looped it, lol.Funny Story: I first heard this song while trying out the Frackin Universe mod, and it plays during the Poptop dungeon near the beginning of the game. I fell in love with it; but it doesn't seem to play anywhere in the vanilla game though, and I couldn't find it anywhere on Youtube. It's not in the official soundtrack either, just like the final boss theme, so I was quite surprised to find out this was a vanilla track.I thought this was a modded track because of that. So I asked the mod author if he knew what song it was; I had previously looked into the mod folder and listened to all the tracks in the music folder, but it was nowhere to be found. He insisted that it was there, but I was very sure it wasn't.Fast forward a month, I decide to join their Discord server to ask about it again, since I still couldn't find it. Once again, I was assured it was in the folder I've been checking in. Eventually someone sent me the file I was looking for and told me that you had to unpack the vanilla assets to reach the music files. Phew.Anyway, if this somehow isn't unused and has an official name (or heck, if it isn't even from Starbound), let me know and I'll make some adjustments.Why did I choose a different logo and picture than most other people use for videos like this? Because this one looks prettier.
I Cant Believe You Messed With the Summoner Sci 2018-04-25 | Now you've done it, mister.This was my self-imposed challenge; to defeat the Devourer of Gods, a post-Moon Lord boss from the Calamity mod, with only vanilla base game gear.Guess how many times it took me. Hint: it's in the video somewhere.There's a lot of details to pay attention to for this battle; his movement patterns, his attack patterns, his damage, etc. Obviously, since he's a few tiers above the Moon Lord, modded equipment is almost a necessity for fighting him. Almost.Those laser walls were the bane of my existence for the longest time. I initially tried using the Master Ninja Gear, then switching to the Charm of Myths for added sustainability, then eventually going back to the former since I really need that mobility and dodge chance.I suppose a few too many things worked out in my favor here. First, the Rod of Discord is supposed to set you ablaze whenever you use it during this battle. But as of a recent update, this no longer occurs. Most likely an oversight. As well, I did have to borrow some pools of hearts from previous battles to keep myself alive (and I lost them all anyway lol), and I even RNG-dodged an attack that would have killed me otherwise. I also struggled a lot because his damage reduction toughens up when his HP is at about half in his second phase. Turned the fight into a real waiting game, like a survival spell card, as he constantly turned invisible.I'm not the best player, and even with my eventual victory, I clearly made a lot of mistakes. But regardless, my equipment is vanilla, my potions are vanilla, my tactics are vanilla. There's something to feel accomplished about when you make the most out of being undergeared and taking down a strong enemy despite that. I'm fairly proud of myself for this.I normally don't play mods. But I realize that a strong modded boss makes for a good challenge for my fully powered-up vanilla character. What better opportunity to show the world not to underestimate the Summoner.This video was edited entirely by my good friend Archie. Buying the Great Platinum Coin in the Sky Sci 2017-04-30 | After a year in business, Customer Services and his trusty partner Bohemas rise through the monopoly ranks and call the Moon Lord for a conference; to own the rights to the big platinum coin in the sky.To answer any questions: This expert playthrough was mostly a huge joke and was more about building rather than fighting. We limited ourselves from crafting any weapons and armor, getting our main source of power from shops and select amounts of loot. As such, we magically gave ourselves obscene amounts of platinum coins because we're businessmen. Don't worry, that money isn't shared with any of my characters ;PBelieve it or not, the game is pretty tough even with all that money. Imagine sticking with the mining outfit all the way until Plantera.We actually built that arena, but we learned it was far too short for the battle, so we did end up tripling its length through TEdit. It's still a pleasure to swim through, though.
