Again if you are writing a collection like this to a SD card, use a spare, not your original Next SD card and make any necessary backups first.

So if you want to add or remove a large number of files from your QL setup on the Next, this shows one way to do it. This is how you would add QL games or applications to your QL core installation or remove ones you no longer needed.
Recommend using a new SD card for experimenting on your QL setup. Not using your main Next SD card. Take plenty of backups!
There is another option as well as editing your qxl.win or scopying in single files. You could scopy a zip file and unzip. This means getting an unzip into your QL files. Maybe a topic for another video.Experiments with the Spectrum Next : QL SuperBASIC using the Next QL Core.ZX Retro Gaming including 8 and 16 bit2025-08-17 | Shows how to create a simple hello world basic program in QL BASIC running on the Spectrum Next in the QL core and how to edit, save, load and run it.
Also getting a program running that needs a small change to the BASIC listing using edit.
I edit the froggy basic program I mentioned in my previous video so it can run. (Unfortunately it didn't run too well on the Next). I followed the same technique with the Spacepods game to get that running also.
Commands
list - list BASIC in mempry run - run BASIC in memory
cls - BASIC clear screen For / Next - BASIC for next loop print - BASIC Print command
new - clear BASIC from memory save - save BASIC load - load BASIC edit NN - edit a BASIC line at line number NN

Includes audio.
For my experience of initially setting up the QL core see my video from December 2024 and the notes in its description.
Commands:
Press C - on boot of the Next to select the QL core from the slots once installed
ew sdir,#1 - view the SD card files ew scopy - copy files from the SD card into the QXL container DDOWN - go into a directory LRUN - run a BASIC program VIEW - view the contents of a file in pages DIR - view the contents of a directory
The Froggy and Spacepods games did indeed load once the drive was edited out of the file path for their additional file(s). I show getting Froggy running in the next video. Unfortunately neither ran very well, even using SLOW.
Bear in mind the QXL.WIN already has files in it, so they would have to be considered when trying to work out how much space there is for games.Creating a Retro Game for Linux & WindowsZX Retro Gaming including 8 and 16 bit2025-08-08 | Diving into the development of a unique retro-style game inspired by Kanban, the popular Agile project management tool.
