First riding in the "Speedway. Then we go Inside the "Mission to Mars" attraction for an extended look at this classic attraction starting at the line where you got to see mission control and the famous "intrusion alarm". Remember when you experienced the trip into space with the seats that sank in the middle to simulate "zero gravity"? The ride had more for the imagination than the "Alien Encounter" and "Stitch's Great Escape" that later filled the same space in Tomorrowland.
Walt Disney World 15th Anniversary - Magic Kingdom Media Day 1986, Inside Sleeping Beauty Castle earsmiles 2014-10-30 | Walt Disney World 15th Anniversary Celebration. Remember when everyone was a winner? During the Disney World 15th Anniversary year of 1986 the gave prizes to everyone who went through the gate. Pins and "winner" visors with flashing lights was the most common prize, They also gave away a car a day sponsored by Chevrolet. This media party was the world record largest media gathering at the time. The number of media outlets there to broadcast surpassed the 1969 launch of Apollo 11. You'll see a few of the radio stations here broadcasting from the terrace of the train station on Main Street in the Magic Kingdom. You also get to glimpse inside Sleeping Beauty castle where dinner was served in King Stefan's Ballroom and ride the carousel with our family. It was a great party.
EPCOT Norway Movie: As seen in the closed Maelstrom paviilion on the last day at Disney EPCOT Norway earsmiles 2014-10-26 | EPCOT Norway Movie: As seen in the closed Maelstrom pavilion on the last day at Disney EPCOT NorwayThe final part of the Maelstrom ride at EPCOT was a movie about Norway. Iconic scenes from the Vikings to North Sea oil exploration, arts, technology and the lifestyle. Great music and cinematography made it a great finale to the ride and I'm sure it enticed many to visit Norway. The ride closed on October 5, 2014. This was shot after our final ride that day. We were there also on the first day it was open. So, imagine you just walked in after getting off the boat through the trolls ("Back back, over the falls.") past the Polar Bears and into the rough North Sea under the oil rig and into the calm fishing village.It's fun to see the 80's technology featured. The film was never updated so imagine that little kid who likely has little blonde kids of his own by now!It's gone now, to be replaced by a "Frozen" themed attraction. I"m not sure it will have the same emotion as this visit to Noway.
