One of the most impressive scientific installations we've ever had on board is ICE, a quantum physics experiment. You may be familiar with the Equivalence Principle: two objects without any other external influence simultaneously fall when released simultaneously, regardless of their composition. Baptiste Battelier's team from the CNRS wants to study this principle, but on the scale of atoms. During the 62nd CNES parabolic flight campaign, the team installed a complex laser system on board the Airbus A310 ZERO-G.
Today, meet researcher Baptiste who explains here the scientific purpose of the experiment and as well as its many present and future applications.
