I figured I could get these across quick so it was a good option for #shorts. If you've struggled with learning pull ups, these 6 steps are guaranteed to get you there. You start off with horizontal pulling (bodyweight rows) to build some strength in scapular retraction. Then move on to vertical pulling exercises, which are two variations of assisted pull ups with feet on the floor. Those lead to pull up negatives and then finally assisted pull-ups with a band. I've never seen this progression not work.
If you find negatives too difficult, add bent-arm hangs (holding the top position of a pull up) as a step before negatives. Build that up to a solid 10-second hold.
Only you can determine when's the right time to try the next progression, but as a general rule of thumb you can aim for a solid 8 reps in a set as a target.
