The team and gear were ready to give it a shot. It took a while to get up on foil after paddling off the island, but once up and out, the wind and and swell picked up. Foiling around in Baja KiteTheBay 2019-03-30 | On my way to California after spending a winter down in La Ventana, Baja, I stopped to foilsurf a good WNW swell. It was a pretty rockin swell that lasted for 3-4 days. I stayed out there for 3 days and scored a couple good, long, right point breaks. I had a good truck that handled the rough roads and a good Lift foilboard that kept me speeding through the swells. It's hard to cool the engines after the a trip like this, I get fired up every time I watch the video! Thanks for my Soloshot that kept me in focus most of the time...Music: Boston, Cool the Engines

Foilsurfing Footage Up Close KiteTheBay 2019-01-19 | Take a close-up look at the action of a foilsurfer. Just like regular surfing, you need to read and feel the wave on the take-off and stand up as early as possible. A lot depends on how balanced you are the moment your feet get set on the deck. Then you gotta choose your line and be ready to change it instantly as the wave may not allow you go where you originally planned. If the wave slows, then it's time to get a pump going. If it speeds up, then you gotta hold the foil down with more front foot weight but not push too much so the board stays above the water. There's a bit more to it then regular surfing but the rewards of smooth, fast speed, and doubling or tripling the riding time makes it totally worth it, bro!

FoilSurfing some late December South swells in Baja KiteTheBay 2018-12-06 | Foil Surfing in Baja on some late December South Swells. It was big surf on the Pacific side and I wasn't expecitng this swell to show on the other side. This wave gets kinda steep so I had to put on my small foil wing and focus on making the drop. When I did, the speed achieved came on so quick, I felt like I was suddenly slipping through air! Some waves let me ride all the way to beach but I had to pump the foil a bit to keep with it, which is tougher on the small wing. Hopefully another late season South Swell shows up...!

Foilsurfing Some Sweet Swells!!! KiteTheBay 2018-10-17 | Foilsurfing. You just can't get enough of the fast, smooth speed as you drop in and find a line that runs down an unbroken wave! You think the ride will soon be over, but the wave continues to stand up and your foil locks into the energy while you maintain the balance and determine the best way to finish your line. Riding on such a small surface area, the wings of the foil underneath the board are less drag then what a regular surfboard on the water experiences. So, you can get going pretty fast and project way out ahead of the pocket into unfamiliar swell riding territory. It's the challenge of something new and different along with the smooth sensation that makes me paddle back out and hunt down another wave to foil on!

The foil offers so much projection that you need to learn how to read a wave differently from regular surfing.
