Just a quick video show the process from start to finish. A note about the breadboard ends: only the middle tennons are glued and the mortises toward the outside are large to allow for wood movement, mostly shrinkage in this case as the wood still has a lot of moisture. Custom Woodworking & Yacht Carpentry 2015-05-28 | I modeled this piece after the Greek God Atlas and the book Atlas Shrugged by Ayn Rand. The idea behind it is that Atlas carried the weight of the world and being a heavy desk for someone that might have a lot of responsibility the symbolism just seemed to fit. I came up with the idea when I couldn't sleep one night.The desk is all solid mahogany and the top is almost 400lbs. It's a standard desk height of 30" and measures roughly 7ft by 3-1/2ft. This executive office desk is for sale. If you're interested give me a call.
