Cycling 5000 Km, 3 months, 3 countries ● Day 2, Pahouaygnang Hongsa, Sainyabuli, Laos 单车5千公里3个月3国 i roam SEA 东南亚 2023-11-19 | the 1st day is also the longest day.... ...the 2nd day is the most exhausting day... ...This is my first long-distance journey by bicycle. I planned to bike 120 kimometers for the first day from Luang Prabang to Hongsa, Sainyabuli Province. It turned out to be impossible in the mountains, although I found later on that the highway build by Thailand is the best one in Laos. At dusk, I got to a Hmong village on a mountain top, then I spent about 3 hours in the darkness without moonlight to reach the next village---Pahouaygnang--- a riverside Khmu village in a valley (the only village within about 50 kilometers of the best highway in Laos), exhausted and thirsty. On the way, day and night big noise and rampant flames with smoke of fireworks from Slash-and-Burn on the mountains can be heard and seen. In Laos, from December to April air pollution is a big problem.In the Khmu village, luckily I met a group of girls eating a watermelon, who gave a chair and some water to fill my bottle. I slept a couple of hours from time to time on the plastic chair overnight. The following day I got up early without food and water to continue my biking in order to finish the remaining 30 kilometer. I underestimated the difficulties too much. All the way no village means no water, no food. As a matter of fact, I almost fainted from hunger, thirst and sleepiness. Finally, at about 1 pm, at the foot of mountains, I arrived at some village. I drank and ate, then found a hut at a market to have a sleep. Late afternoon, at last I got to Hongsa. The 1st day is one of the longest, while the 2nd day is the most exhausting one definitely. Both are so unforgettable. 这是我第一次骑自行车长途旅行。 第一天我计划从琅勃拉邦骑自行车120公里到沙耶武里省的红沙。 结果在山里是不可能的，虽然后来发现这条泰国修的公路是老挝最好的。 黄昏时分，我到达了山顶上的一个苗族村庄，然后没有月光，在黑暗中骑了大约3个小时，到达了下一个村庄——Pahouaygnag——一个位于山谷中的河边克木族村庄（老挝最好公路大约50公里路段中唯一的村庄），又累又渴。 一路上，日夜烧山爆竹声，火光冲天，青烟缭绕，时时可见。 在老挝，从十二月到四月，空气污染是一个大问题。在这个Khmu村，幸运的是我遇到了一群正在吃西瓜的女孩，她们给了我一把椅子和一些水来装满的水瓶。 整夜我在塑料椅子上断断续续睡两三个小时。 第二天，我早早起床，没有食物和水，继续骑自行车，完成剩下的30公里。 我太低估了途中可能的困难。 一路上没有村庄就意味着没有水、没有食物。 事实上，我又饿又渴又困，差点晕过去。 终于，下午1点左右，好不容易我终于到了大山脚下的村庄。 我喝了水，吃了些饭，然后在一个市场上找了间小棚子睡了一大觉。 傍晚时分，我终于到达了红沙。第一天是最长的一天，而第二天绝对是最累、最渴、最饿、精疲力竭的一天。 头两天都如此令人难忘！

Luang Prabang Paper Making & Cloth Weaving village● 琅勃拉邦画纸织布专业村 i roam SEA 东南亚 2023-03-23 | Early this month, although the famous bamboo seasonal bridge connecting Luang Prabang and Village Xianglek has been dismantled due to some imminent river embankment reinforcement works, tourists can take a free boat and then walk there instead. The village produces pretty paper from wild mulberry bark, and weaves traditional cloth as well. Actually, cloth-weaving tradition is still going on in the rural areas nationwide. 本月初，连接琅勃拉邦和香乐村的著名竹桥因就要进行的河堤加固工程被拆除，但游客可以免费乘船过河。 这个专业村用野生桑树皮生产加工漂亮的纸制品，也手工纺织传统布料。 其实，老挝全国农村织布传统还在传承中。

Among them, the most peaceful 2 resorts which are nearby Luangprabang railway station remain out of operation for 3 years due to epidemic effects. One of them (of bungalow hostel) is for sale. I bicycled to get there in 40 minutes. It is along Mekong river to the north with a towering Karst mountain to the west. It nearly covers an area of 3.5 square kilometers, which makes it a little bigger than the downtown of Luangprabang. I was not allowed to cycle it. Instead, I was offered a free electric vehicle ride to visit the northern part which is also the prettiest place with a grand river view. Two years ago, it was a no-travelling period for the reason you know, I once cycled here for about 40 minutes.琅勃拉邦高尔夫球场位于琅勃拉邦西南9公里处。 我骑自行车 40 分钟才到。 北面一线沿湄公河，西侧耸立着一个喀斯特山。 占地面积大约3.5平方公里，比琅勃拉邦主城区稍大。 不允许我在里面骑车，工作人员安排我免费电动车参观了北角，这块也是最美丽的地方，拥有壮丽的湄公河景。 两年前，还是疫情期间，我来骑自行车，在里面骑了大约 40 分钟。
Very mountainous area 50 kilometers / Phonxay Xiengngeun, Luangprabang, Laos i roam SEA 东南亚 2023-01-10 | I tried to get to Xiengngeun from Phonxay by bicycle. At last, in the late afternoon after a long hard trekking and pedaling I was stopped by a river. No road ahead, but a small 10-kilometer path for local fishermen in and along the river. I had no choice but to stay in a Khmu household.
