No. My general philosophy is to support the position that minimizes suffering, considering both the short and long term. However, abortion like war should be the last alternative. We should work to minimize the number of abortions that need to be performed. Probabilities: Joe is telling the truth = 0.9 Joe is lying = 0.1 The coin gave 10 heads = 0.001 The coin didn't give 10 heads = 0.999 This yields 4 possibilities 1) Joe tells the truth and coin did what he predicted = 0.0009 2) Joe tells the truth and the coin didn't do what he predicted = 0.8991 3) Joe lies and the coin did what he predicted = 0.0001 4) Joe lies and the coin didn't do what he predicted = 0.0999 Since Joe tells us the coin did what he predicted we are left with only two possibilities, 1 and 4. Either He is telling the truth and the coin did what he predicted 0.0009 (double positive), or Joe is lying and the coin didn't do what he predicted 0.0999 (double negative). Given that one of these must be true (given the information Joe told us, i.e. his prediction was confirmed) the probabilities rescale to add to 1. If one membrane is under tension, the fatty acid "on rate" will be greater than the "off rate" (move to a lower energy state by relaxing the pressure). It will suck up fatty acids from solution. The other vesicle will still give them off, but they will disappear (sucked up by neighbor) and not return. Therefore, the vesicle with high internal pressure will grow and the neighbor will shrink. Endogenous Retroviruses (ERVs) are the relics of ancient viral infections preserved in our DNA. The odd thing is many ERVs are located in exactly the same position on our genome and the chimpanzee genome. There are two explanations for the perfectly matched ERV locations. Either it is an unbelievable coincidence that viruses just by chance inserted in exactly the same location in our genomes, or humans and chimps share a common ancestor. It was our common ancestor that was infected, and we both inherited the ERVs. ERVs providence the closest thing to a mathematical proof for evolution.
