With events like March Mystery Madness, June on the Range I thought that we might as well have an adventure month thrown into the mix, and what better opportunity to take than the alliterative April! I wasn't able to find another event like this, so if it already exists and I'm simply unaware of it, then... whoops. But anyways here's the prompts if you'd like to actively participate!Prompt 1: Read an adventure book. (Here defined as a book in which the principal character(s) move geographically from one place to another over the course of the book, facing genuine risk along the way)Prompt 2: Read a book outside your wheelhouse, or normal rotation of favorite genres.Prompt 3: Have an adventure of your own! Go out hiking, camping, take a walk in the neighboorhood to a place you've never been, or even do something outside of your daily routine in your own house. (No need to take actual risks, just have a good time doing something new). My Favorite Book of All Time: Moby Dick! Robin Song Reads 2024-12-19 | Welp I've done what I set out to do by creating this channel: yap excitedly at length about a book I love. And this just so happens to be the book I love the most: Moby freaking Dick. I really hope you enjoy this video, it was a blast to make, and in preparing for it I read a bunch of letters Herman Melville wrote to friends and publishers during its creation and I got a huge kick out of them. Without this Booktube channel I wouldn't have done that, so I can officialy say that booktube is making me go deeper into the books I love!Also I basically didn't mention the plot of the book at all, somewhat intentionally so as to leave that pleasure to be experienced novelly by the first-time reader - plus I sort of assume most of y'all know the outline, but just in case you'd like that information, I'll provide it here :)A common sailor named Ishmael joins the crew of the whaling vessel The Pequod in order to "see the watery part of the world." Unbeknownst to him, the captain of the ship, the delightfully dictatorial and maniacally monologuing Ahab, has been driven mad at the loss of his right leg at the hands (or jaws, rather) of the infamous white whale, Moby Dick. The story follows Ishmeal and his bosom friend Queequeg on their voyage around the world in Ahab's quest to seek revenge upon the creature that cost him his leg and his sanity, all the while meeting other whaling ships, getting chased by pirates, and thinking about things. Actually it's mostly thinking about things. Whaling things, a lot of the time. But, of course, Moby Dick is much, much, muuuch more than even that, it's sort of a book about everything! And you should definitely read it and then email me about it; or, if you have read it, email me and tell me your thoughts!
