SnowiestAngemanConsidering that everyone and their mum has been saying "play this game" I don't think I need to convince you to play it. However, there's a fair bit of behind the scenes history involved with this game, as well as MANY differences between it and the original version of this game.
This video contains as many of the differences that I could observe that range from obvious ones to subtle ones you wouldn't know if you didn't play the original. I didn't think to mention (but that's not because it's unimportant) all of the new accessibility features added into that game. It also has a new title screen and a lot of UI changes I didn't mention. So yeah it's got those.
UPDATE: The Rhapsody of Chivalry (任侠狂詩曲) from the original game has been replaced in the story by Town Bully from Yakuza 6. However, it's still in the game and can be heard in a lot of the climax battles or ultimate challenges or whatever they're called.
UPDATE 2: Ultrawide and uncapped frame rates have been FIXED thanks to this mod that works perfectly github.com/Lyall/IshinFix
UPDATE 3: Ayo the Ultrawide UI problem and the horrendous stuttering have both been completely fixed by the devs. Woohoo!
If you'd like, you can listen to the entirety of this game's original soundtrack on Spotify, which comes in the form of two albums.

Soz for the lateness of this stream too I wanted to do it earlier but god mucked about by stuff :(Weird Yakuza Inconsistencies That DO Matter (To Me Specifically)SnowiestAngeman2023-04-17 | When you go back and forth between all of the Yakuza/Like a Dragon games like I constantly do there are so many little itty bitty changes. I often forget about those subtle differences and it rather unsubtly annoys me. But seriously M for pause??? M for monkey because that's who decided that.
But hey with that being said though it's just a video :) I'm just joking around for a bit of fun :) I'm not being completely serious :) I can already hear people typing their sooky little comments about how "umm akshully" and all that nonsense :) I am not claiming that these things ruin the games :) take that time you would've spent writing an irrelevant comment in patting a dog or something :) please :)

#yakuza #likeadragon #youtubeshortsHow is Yakuzas Gameplay SO SATISFYING?SnowiestAngeman2023-03-19 | The Yakuza/Like a Dragon games have an incredible presentation and style that makes playing and experiencing them feel as satisfying as popping bubble wrap. Probably because you are popping skulls (in game) in the same way. And ya just can’t help but feel good after that (in real life).
Shoutout to ya boi @softsoundd for helping me record stuff in MW2 as well lol.

Although if they could stop that would be great 'cause Biden's really struggling with Majima.
The voices were made using ElevenLabs' voice AI. I also checked the other day and saw no one had done one of these for Yakuza but then when I checked again while I was exporting this I saw someone had done it, like, yesterday so big whoops on the timing lol. Although, there's about 800 Minecraft ones so I suppose it isn't the worst thing to happen.
Song: Yakuza: Like a Dragon - Receive You The HyperactiveThe Beauty of Like a Dragon: Ishin!SnowiestAngeman2023-02-27 | Although this series has never had 1 million x 1 million pixel textures or character models where their hair has more polygons than the entirety of Crysis 3, the series instead has always had a visually appealing presentation, and this game is no exception. It is, for lack of a better word, beautiful.
As you may have noticed this video has 21:9 footage WITHOUT borders and an uncapped frame rate in the cutscene I showed, and that is 100% thanks to this mod: github.com/Lyall/IshinFix
I will also say that this is 100% created to prove a weird handful of comments wrong that I got on the video I made before this about Like a Dragon Ishin! where I had some people who were so immensely lacking in a brain that I'm surprised they were able to manoeuvre their fat, inbred fingers around the keyboard strategically enough that they could type their worthless comments about how this game is barely a graphical improvement over Yakuza 3 and then proceeded to say the same thing about Lost Judgment because it turns out these commenters have no eyes either. Yeah they're right because Ryoma looking like a human instead of a Lego brick with a face sticky taped onto it isn't at all an improvement.
Anyway

This likely won't be a long stream :)What Happens When I Try to Stream - Ishin Stream HighlightsSnowiestAngeman2023-02-13 | Alright so the story behind this was that I was *going* to do my first ever stream on YouTube, but sadly I had to do some verification thing and it wasn't working. So I gave up and did a Twitch stream on the day that I promised. BUT, to honour my promise, I decided to do a YouTube stream two days later. My mic is also terrible and no one ever told me the game audio was too loud most of the time. Regardless, I hope you enjoy this different style of content.
0:00 The Twitch Stream was just the original 2014 Ishin.
9:16 The YouTube Stream started with Ishin, then moved onto Kurohyou 1, then Kurohyou 2, then Yakuza 2, then RGG Kenzan, then finally ended with Tekken Tag Tournament 2.
I have done two previous stream highlight things for a bit of a laugh, but they were unlisted as I felt it didn't fit all too well with what I already had. Here they are:
I didn't list any song names and whatever because I didn't properly use them like I would in a normal video, but feel free to ask any song names and I'll be sure to try and answer you.First Ever Stream that was Cracked and AwesomeSnowiestAngeman2023-02-08 | First ever YouTube stream plz no bully thx :) I played a variety of games this stream because it's MY channel and I can do whatever *I* want.

To be fair though BRING BACK BOWLING PLEASE :'(
I made a similar video a while ago, but that was just a meme lol: youtu.be/E0tz6NX_hCA
You can also check out RGG Studio doing their classic CTRL C + CTRL V strats they always do here: youtu.be/5sF9AtxaWDM
By the way, this does not cover EVERY single thing that has been removed from the games. When you include every tiny little thing you'd probably get closer to an hour long video to be honest. Things like specific attacks or heat actions; licenced products such as Don Quijote; or random things like birds were not include, to name a few examples.

Not every single RGG Studio title was included within this tutorial and for that I do apologise. This was because the strategies used were quite obvious so I thought they needed no explanation. It is also because I still to this day hate Fist of the North Star Lost Paradise and I don't care what people say I hate it stop trying to pretend like it isn't a game about blowing up someone's head then doing chores for your mum for 10 hours and then the game ends. Kenshiro? More like Kenshigo ahead and uninstall the game.
There are some rather mild spoilers for Yakuza 3, and relatively big spoilers for Yakuza 4 in this video. The Yakuza 3 one isn't all too important and Yakuza 4's story is terrible so who cares.

Now BEFORE ANYONE SAYS IT: The arena in this game is definitely harder than some of the other games, but I was exaggerating the difficulty for comedic affect. It does, however, give you about 12 points for beating 100 enemies when the cheapest of the actually good items cost like 50,000 points so that's awesome.
ALSO: some of the keyframe data messed up in the export despite my attempts to fix them :( but if you don't notice anything like that then don't worry about it :)

Or alternatively you can check the homepage on my channel where I have the shelf "Yakuza Composer Discographies" which contain all of the playlists there :)

That's quite the list. Why do I do this to myself? No one even reads these. The Atmosphere of the Yakuza GamesSnowiestAngeman2022-12-05 | A video inspired by the title of a Tekken 4 video that I saw that I didn't actually watch until after coming up with the idea and that video was nothing like this video. This instead is just a small showcase of times where the Yakuza games do a great job at creating an atmospheric setting or mood. And no I didn't "forget" anything. It's a short video on purpose.
This is very similar to a set of videos I did. This video doesn't focus purely on the sounds, but these ones do. Here was the first part: youtu.be/L1NKZYiUKoY
Now, when I say atmosphere, I mean that feeling of feeling like you're really in a living and breathing area. It truly does make you feel like you're actually in Japan, but not in a "makes you feel like Batman/Spider-Man" game review kinda way, but as in it genuinely looks and feels as realistic as it does in real life. The posters, the lights, the people. All of it.
In all seriousness, the Yakuza games do manage to create an incredible atmosphere. When you aren't being presented with wacky substories or the cool fight scenes, you're presented with so many audio and visual sensations that make you feel all kinds of things.
Walking through Kamurocho, seeing all of the neon signs and hearing the sounds of the busy streets.
The quiet of Seiryo High School at night.
The peace of Onomichi in the afternoon.
The little boat that goes around in the river in Sotenbori.
The docks in Yokohama.
And most importantly: The Bowling Alley. WHY, RGG STUDIO...?! Why would you do this to me?! You said you'd be by my side! RGG Studio! All I did, I did for you...!
Song: Tekken 4 - Authentic SkyAmazing Yakuza Abilities That Will Make You Come... (Part 4/4)SnowiestAngeman2022-11-25 | ...to the conclusion that they are very overpowered. Part 2 of 2 but technically part 4 of 4 of a series where I look at some unlockable abilities that are spammable and overpowered that make your opponents cry to their parents for help but sadly these abilities will destroy the parents too.

Anyway, here's a continuation of the first part (linked below). Whenever I do videos like this I really can't tell whether this stuff is intentional by the devs or not lol.
There's about 10 seconds of spoilers 4 minutes into the video. To skip: 4:22
Songs: Xenoblade Chronicles 3 - A Formidable Enemy Yakuza 5 - What a FUNKASTIC hit Tekken 3 - Jin Kazama (PlayStation 2 Version) Yakuza 0 - at the 1st bottom Yakuza 4 - Infinite Handcuffs Tekken Tag Tournament 2 - Fiji (Paraiso Mix)Judgment - Kiwami Style IntroSnowiestAngeman2022-11-04 | A Kiwami intro in the sense that it combines gameplay and cutscenes to create a cool opening before the title screen of the game, like the games before Yakuza 6. Judgment had an opening, but it was very much just "hey look at these actors we got" instead of "look at this game we made".
Also had a Lost Judgment intro I made ages ago at this point: youtu.be/l8oXUPBoXNA
And look at that! No HUD! Good work RGG Studio for adding the hide HUD option in the PC ports of the game which definitely 100% work and I didn't have to do any work myself... Yeah nah I had to do it myself. I wanna slap them sometimes. Silly billies.
Song: Judgment - Hyenas WheezingGreat Yakuza Abilities Youll Spam 24/7 (Part 2/4)SnowiestAngeman2022-10-28 | We return with more pointing and laughing at RGG Studio but this time we're laughing a bit more *with* them rather than at them as we examine stuff that's just dumb. Straight stupid. Rather silly. Incomprehensibly foolish. Unequivocally baffling. Overpowered. Yeah that last word.
Also apologies for my voice in the first few minutes of the video I had literally just woken up :(
Songs: Yakuza 5 - The Passion for Batting Lost Judgment - Toward To The Skyline Tekken 7 - Arctic Snowfall 1st Tekken 7 - Arctic Snowfall 2nd Shin Megami Tensei IV - Black Market Xenoblade Chronicles 3 - A Formidable EnemyYakuza Abilities You Wont Realise Are Bad (Part 1/4)SnowiestAngeman2022-09-30 | We now tune into another episode of "no I don't hate the series but I have spent a lot of time playing them so I am able to criticise the smaller details of the games". On this episode, (accidentally) deceitful deception from RGG Studio regarding unlockable abilities in their games.
Just before anyone gets mad, the first two abilities were discussed to lead into why the third one is particularly bad, not necessarily that the first two were the bad ones. Although they have the potential to be quite the hinderances.
Songs: Yakuza 3 - Let's Produce the No.1 Hostess! (No.1キャバ嬢をつくろう!) If you tell me that it's spelt 'realize' I'll slap you.How are the Yakuza Dynamic Intros so Appealing?SnowiestAngeman2022-09-23 | Considering I've made a bunch of videos about them, I thought it would be interesting to look at what RGG Studio actually do to make their dynamic intros special. I mostly look at the visual effects applied for each game, but I also go a bit more in depth for some of them. Also SPOILERS.
Yeah I don't look at Ishin Kiwami/Like a Dragon: Ishin but from what gameplay exists the intro styles are very similar to Yakuza: Like a Dragon but in black and white. Put it in the thumbnail though to show old vs new, y'know?
Unfortunately given what I'm covering I can't avoid spoilers. So here are the timestamps: Intro/Before Yakuza 3 0:00 Yakuza 3 1:35 Yakuza 4 3:35 Yakuza 5 4:10 Ishin! (2014) 4:52 Yakuza 0 7:10 Yakuza Kiwami 7:41 Yakuza 6 8:51 Yakuza Kiwami 2 10:29 Judgment (Lost Judgment/The Kaito Files too) 11:31 Actual Lost Judgment/The Kaito Files Footage 12:39 Yakuza: Like a Dragon 12:56 Conclusion 14:46 Outro (Spoilers for everything ever) 15:43
Certain games have the exact same visual style as each other, so there may be some overlap. The styles that exist are as follows:
Yakuza 3/4/5 Ishin/Yakuza 0/Kiwami 1 Yakuza 6/Kiwami 2 Judgment/Lost Judgment Yakuza: Like a Dragon
If that ^ doesn't make sense, you'll see what I mean in the video.

Probably. I mean Lao Ka Long's back so who even knows anymore.
If I got any dates wrong whoops sorry I don't have their birth/date certificates although it is a silly meme so it doesn't matter too much lol

I've synced up the music to the best of my abilities but as expected some songs were not meant for certain fights lmao. But still, this was super hype to edit.
Feel free to say in the comments which ones you liked, or if you have a cool idea that you think might work for these sorts of things! Hope you enjoy, gamers :)

Bonus Japanese version for the Judgments: youtu.be/dQw4w9WgXcQHow YOU Can Get Into the Yakuza SeriesSnowiestAngeman2022-07-09 | With the recent sales, memes and attention that the Yakuza series has gotten in the past couple of years, a lot of new people are joining up and playing the games. This video shows what I think is the best way to start your journey through the Yakuza series of video games.
If you want to, you can play through whichever game you want first and play through whatever other ones you want (or none of them at all if you really want to) but this video is just the least intimidating way for a newcomer to become familiar with the franchise.
If you disagree with me, uhh well guess what? :( bruh how could you im sad now

In this episode, we make fun of them relentlessly. The thumbnail for this video is me crying that there is no bowling in LJ.
When creating a sequel, many video game developers will use a lot of what they have already made as a basis to begin work on their next project. Some things get replaced or removed; but some things are kept exactly as they are. RGG Studio do uhhh... mostly the latter. This video shows off mostly things that were brought back randomly from old games (like Kiwami 2 and Kaito Files having that Baseball heat action from Yakuza 1) and the asset's first appearance or at least something close to that.
This video does not include every instance of reuse as that would be a 50 hour video, but instead trims A LOT of it down to a nice and tasty 8 minutes because I am not your average 'oh my god click on this 30 hour video to watch 3 seconds of something interesting' YouTuber.

No, I don't mean the *intentionally* weird things... I mean things that are unintentional but make no sense whatsoever in real life. You'll see what I mean.

Only for a little bit but if you are uber concerned about spoilers then you have been warned. This video was made as I got a few comments asking for the first video but with Final Destination so here it is :)
You can compare this to the first video to see how insanely higher quality my footage is now compared to then because I actually know how to record. But I reckon this one has way slicker editing thanks to almost an entire year of experience. First video: youtu.be/w5BBctgYoXQ

Song: Lost Judgment - Final DestinationGuest Composers Part 2 - Yakuza Composer AppreciationSnowiestAngeman2022-04-30 | This video is dedicated to all of the composers across the Yakuza franchise that have only composed a few songs, or only composed for a few games. This is the second part in a mini series within an actual series. Hope you enjoy :)
Slight correction, Hiroyoshi Kato is under the TEAM** of Noisycroak (not the alias of). Turns out Hideki Sakamoto is the CEO of the business and that Keisuke Ito (from the first video) is a part of it as well! I honestly would never have known that if not for doing the research. But I'm glad I did.
Also, Yoshio Tsuru did two more songs besides the fishing themes whoops. His discography still has everything, though.

Well a lot of people will probably agree with you, that's why the community has come up with these challenges to add to the experience! These... totally real challenges...
As per usual this video is a meme and as per usual I can't wait for the comments of people who watch the first 0.2 seconds just to comment and tell me I'm wrong even though that's the joke.

Unsurprisingly, RGG Studio have knocked my socks off yet again with Lost Judgment, although this time around I get to at least stare at the most handsome man in the series. Also, Hoshino in sick sunnies and Higashi in a swag apron.
If you can buy it, buy it. If you can't then I once again offer to the less fortunate my most sincere lol and my most humble pointing and laughing.

(If You Can)SnowiestAngeman2022-03-20 | It's real name is Ryū ga Gotoku Ishin! It's also really good, but I can't really describe how good it truly is unless I hand you the controller. So help me out here and uhhh... play the game. It is absolutely worth everyone's time and money. I don't work for SEGA trust me.
Ayyyyyyyyyyyyy we out here with RGG Studio YET AGAIN DOING THEIR BEST to make my videos mostly wrong :)
If you're wondering who Chihiro Aoki is, why don't you take a look at this video? youtu.be/q6a7H5IcXxM
If you're wondering where to actually acquire the game, I bought it off Play-Asia. Took a while to get to me but I live in Australia which according to the whole world is some sort of demon infested hell pit so they had to work up the courage to send it to me.
All but one of the songs are from the OST of Ishin, so I instead named the composers: ZENTA - Lost Lewisite Hyd Lunch - Willow's Riff ZENTA - Great Fireworks (嗚呼、大花火) Hidenori Shoji - Before the Sasanqua Falls (山茶花の散る前に) Kiwami 2 - A Scattered, Eternal Moment
#LocaliseIshinButWithAnSAsThatIsHowYouSpellItWhat to Expect From Lost Judgments Kaito Files DLCSnowiestAngeman2022-03-08 | Mark your calendars, gamers! On the 28th of March, Kaito is gonna come hard and fast all over your PlayStation or Xbox! Unless you have both because Kaito's come is indiscriminate. It's gonna be a LOAD of fun.
The only reason it still says it in the subtitles is because a lot of the time the non-properly animated cutscenes in Judgment, LAD and Lost Judgment have their subtitles based off the English dub. Therefore, the English Dub is the better dub.
Songs: Destiny - The Last Array Final Fantasy VII: Advent Children - Advent One-Winged AngelBad Changes in Yakuza Games (That No One Cares About)SnowiestAngeman2022-02-28 | As we all know, Yakuza is good. But it can be bad. Sometimes though. Nah actually maybe a bit more than sometimes. But it's pretty good to be fair. Although it is simultaneously bad. Anyway here's Wonderwall.
I am being serious but my statements within this video do not automatically mean I dislike the games. I have played all of them so they obviously did something right, y'know? Except for Dead Souls I haven't played that but not even Scott Strichart wants to play that lol.

This video takes a look at a handful of these songs so enjoy :) I also apologise for mistranslations I don't speak Japanese lol.
Just as a side note, there is a composer in here named Yusuke Takahama who I don't believe has composed for any other Yakuza game so consider him a guest composer. He did all the Can Quest songs.
Yes, I have indeed updated the discographies to have all the Like a Dragon music :)

That being said, I reckon the sequel’s gonna be top notch and it could be even better if they were to implement some ideas from its competitors.
Unlike my other videos that start with how, this one is actually serious. Please note that these are some general ideas that I’ve seen in other JRPGs that would be easy to implement, and not something complicated like an ATB gauge or something.
I know it was the intention, but unfortunately Like a Dragon derived ALL of its combat inspiration from Dragon Quest, rather than looking at good things from everything. Hopefully though with the sequel they branch out and cherrypick some of the juicy stuff from other games to help improve the game itself.

Songs: No one ever checks this section I swear. Don't ever ask me anything ever again.
JK there were a few songs used in this video that are a bit hard to specify in the description. Just ask me if you'd like to know what the song was called in a specific section and I'll try to let you know.
