ARIA BLAKE 2026-03-06 | 🇫🇷 (🇺🇸⬇️): Quelle est la signification de 𝐒𝐭𝐚𝐛𝐚𝐭 𝐌𝐚𝐭𝐞𝐫 𝐃𝐨𝐥𝐨𝐫𝐨𝐬𝐚 d’ARIA BLAKE ? Le titre est tiré d’un poème du XIIIe siècle, «Stabat Mater Dolorosa» (La Vierge des Douleurs se tenait debout), qui décrit la Vierge Marie au pied de la croix, en larmes. Fun fact: ce poème a été repris de nombreuses fois dans la musique classique, notamment par Pergolesi (Stabat Mater - Pergolesi)! Cependant, la Mater Dolorosa d’ARIA BLAKE est une figure maléfique. Dans le concept de notre album (une fantaisie), qui évoque un orphelinat où des expériences médicales sont pratiquées sur des enfants, la Mater Dolorosa est une infirmière, témoin impuissante des cruautés subies par les enfants. Au premier abord stricte, elle est en réalité compatissante envers eux; rongée par le remords, elle prie pour le pardon de ses péchés. Notre chanson exprime précisément ses prières ! En effet, les paroles d’ouverture de la chanson «Forgive me Father, for I have sinned» et le refrain « Confiteor Deo…» sont de véritables paroles tirées de prières catholiques.

🇺🇸: What’s the meaning behind ARIA BLAKE’s 𝐒𝐭𝐚𝐛𝐚𝐭 𝐌𝐚𝐭𝐞𝐫 𝐃𝐨𝐥𝐨𝐫𝐨𝐬𝐚? The title itself comes from a 13th century poem “Stabat Mater Dolorosa” (Sorrowful Mother was Standing), which is about Mother Mary standing at the cross of Jesus Christ and weeping. Fun fact: this poem has been set to music many times in classical music, most famously by Pergolesi (Stabat Mater - Pergolesi)! However, ARIA BLAKE’s Mater Dolorosa (Sorrowful Mother) is an evil figure. In the concept of our album (a fantasy), which talks about an orphanage where medical experiments are performed on children, Mater Dolorosa is a nurse and a bystander of the cruelty happening to children. She seems strict at first but is actually sympathetic to the children; she’s full of remorse and is therefore praying for her sins to be pardoned. Our song is exactly what she says in her prayer! In fact, the opening of the song “Forgive me Father, for I have sinned” and the chorus “Confiteor Deo…” are real words from Catholic prayers.
