Matthews CouchUPDATE! For those who have downloaded a recent build and cannot find the Antialiasing option, it is now under ADVANCED SETTINGS instead of Enhancement Settings.
DuckStation emulator is probably the best Playstation emulator I've put my hands on. This is because it allows you to expand on the limitations of the original hardware through PGXP which fixes the polygon wobble, while still giving you the option to downsample. These options would result in your PS1 games looking like they were HD remastered but still eerily close to the original - without the imperfections. It's a win-win situation IMO.
I know some of you may find my final settings to be very blurry. Personally, I like it because a very high resolution would make the unchangeable dated textures stand out. This way, the downsampled look preserves the integrity of the original games and removes aliasing along with other crippling polygons.
You can also choose 8x supersampling (SSAA) as your antialiasing option and select 3x internal resolution (720p) for a clearer "vanilla" look. Or you can just settle to 4k with PGXP. What's important is you're enjoying the games.

But I'm gonna be honest with you, the reason I was gone for so long is not just because I'm busy on my corporate job, but mainly because of modern gaming itself. I just don't find the game design of modern games to be compelling or exciting anymore. Especially this year 2024. Games nowadays do not treat players like they're functioning adults anymore. And if I don't like playing the game, I won't waste my time learning about its graphics settings and technical aspects; it's just not worth my time and effort.
But here we are, October 2024, and Silent Hill 2 remake has just arrived, and since the original game is one of the most memorable gaming experiences in my life, I have to be back. Let's go.
Silent Hill 2 is very demanding but it is definitely playable. Just take note of which graphics settings to tweak and most importantly, be particular on which areas to test them on.

Five years since Bethesda first revealed its trailer in 2018, this game has now arrived and is actually real - just in an early access state that is.
And those five years do sure show in the product. First off, the game is devoid of infamous bugs. Sure, they may be small NPC pathing and physics glitches, but the game works really flawlessly as far as my playtime is concerned. The game's art and especially its lighting is also surprisingly beautiful - save for some poor spots. The combat is hands down Bethesda's best yet, and the soundtrack is just sublime to listen to wherever you are in the game.
However, its optimization is quite questionable. The game is extremely demanding both on your GPU and CPU. It's may be BGS' best-looking game to date, but I don't think the visuals justify this level of performance.
But there are some good news! Additional performance can very much be gained from a proper understanding of how the graphics settings work. So let's take a look at them.
Timeline 0:00 - Intro 0:48 - My Hardware Specs and Optimization Target (Correction: It's a 3080TI, not 3070) 1:19 - Common GPU-bound Settings 4:25 - Subtle GPU-bound Settings (very important) 6:35 - DLSS vs FSR 7:52 - About the CPU-bottleneck 8:54 - TL;DR 9:17 - Optimized Settings vs Ultra Preset
IMPORTANT! Ensure to enable Re-Bar (NVIDIA) or SAM (AMD) on both your Bios and GPU for a substantial performance gain. For AMD: - Open Radeon Software, select your "Starfield" game profile and enable 'Smart Access Memory'
For NVIDIA: - Download latest NVIDIA Profile Inspector (nvidiaProfileInspector.zip): github.com/Orbmu2k/nvidiaProfileInspector/releases - Run nvidiaProfileInspector.exe - Select 'Starfield' in "Profiles" on upper left - Scroll down to Section 5 - Common - Make sure "rBAR" is Enabled
How to Install DLSS mod Step 1: Download DLSS mod zip file here: drive.google.com/file/d/1nAEil-gz5592i5JPWKhKdGgNcywWwicN/view?usp=sharing Step 2: Copy entire zip file inside Starfield folder where game's .exe file exists Step 3: Right click zip file and select "Extract Here". Step 4: Run Game and Press F1 to bring up DLSS plugin menu. I recommend Preset D for image quality. DLSS will replace FSR so make sure FSR is selected in graphics options.
Note: I am using DLSS 2.5.1 instead of 3.5 because I find DLSS 2 much cleaner than 3.

I have tested it in Hogsmead and Hogwarts Castle and the improvements are noticeable in the frametime graph. However, stutters and fps drops are still present in Hogsmead square and during transitions to new areas all throughout the game. There is still a lot of room for performance improvements.
The patch also fixes the bugged RTX AO which now restores the correct shadow occlusions in specific environmental spots. However, this does not make SSAO obsolete as RTX AO still removes contact shadows in other areas. And as RTX still worsens the stutters and FPS drops, I still won't recommend it for now.
It's finally here guys. Our optimization guide for Hogwarts Legacy. Sorry for the delay as this title is such a challenging piece of software to optimize due to its messy performance and the plethora of graphics options that further complicate our testing. The Uncharted: Legacy of Thieves Collection has now arrived on PC and it contains both Uncharted 4: A Thief's End, and its DLC, The Lost Legacy. What an amazing PC port of a console game this is. The options may not be as verbose as you might expect, but the level of performance it brings surpassed all my expectations. There are no CPU bottleneck situations and everything is purely driven by GPU. Simply put, this is by far the best PC port I have ever tested on day one. That's why this video is very short. But don't worry, Peter Parker has just swung in to save the day! Spider-Man Remastered on PC is a very interesting title because it's both hardware-friendly yet hardware intensive at the same time. Sounds confusing? Watch the video to find out!

IMPORTANT REMINDERS: 1. When tinkering with the graphics settings while RTX settings are enabled, ALWAYS RESTART YOUR GAME! This will prevent stuttering and weird performance issues which will skew your benchmarks testing. If you experience a weird FPS drop after changing a setting, simply restart the game. Fortunately, restarting this game is really, really fast as you can mash your way through the startup intros and go straight into the game. Loading in this game is extremely quick as well!
2. If you are still confused with the RTX performance scaling, let me clarify further: If you are GPU limited, (GPU Usage at 99 percent), use RTX Set 1 - Reflection Resolution: High Geometry Detail: Very High. if you are CPU bottlenecked, (GPU Usage is below 90 percent) Use RTX Set 2 - Reflection Resolution: Very High Geometry Detail: High.
3. If you're having frame pacing issues, lock the game at 60 FPS using Rivatuner or your GPU Control Panel. It smoothens your frametimes and creates a very straight line graph.
Currently, the game is not able to fully utilize high-end hardware and I think there needs to be an optimization patch to fix performance. Don't worry if you can't completely use Max settings at smooth framerates even with super high-end rigs. The game still needs to be improved. Let's just be patient for now.
Unfortunately, the optimization of this game isn't as flawless as its core design. Not only is the engine still capped at 60 FPS, but performance isn't scaling very well according to the graphics settings. Can we still optimize this game? Let's find out.
0:00 - Intro 0:23 - Good News Bad News 0:52 - Hardware Specs 1:14 - Benchmark Conditions Note: I increased resolution from native 1440p to DLDSR 1.78x = 3413 x 1920. IMPORTANT: If you're having frame pacing issues, lock the game at 60 FPS using Rivatuner or the GPU Control Panel. It smoothens your frametimes for a very straight line.
I believe From Software's engine needs some overhaul because it seems like they're brute forcing assets using hardware horsepower rather than optimizing them. The telltale signs can be seen on stutters that can occasionally occur in Limgrave and the consistently high GPU load despite traditional graphical techniques. It is fortunate if you can overpower these drawbacks using high-end parts, but if you're on the low-end side, you might be struggling to get past 60 FPS even on low settings.
But please do tell me how does the game perform on your hardware. I'm really curious on different setups.

DESKTOP SHORTCUT METHOD: 1. Right-click game shortcut 2. Click Properties 3. In target field, after "X:\bla\bla\bla", add ONE space and type -dx12 4. Hit apply
I also encourage NVIDIA users to use DLSS. With DX12, the game will not be CPU-heavy anymore and WILL properly use your GPU to scale performance. It turns out, DX11 is the main culprit of this game after all.
This will HUGELY benefit NVIDIA cards and I can assure you that this will resolve the Headlight shadows FPS drop issue. *You don't need to remove headlight shadows anymore. Just tone down headlight quality to High or Medium will be enough*
BUT, you still need to use SCREEN car reflections because PLANAR and CUBEMAPS still report FPS drops while moving around. Those are still definitive features I guess.

This is a very poignant video to make since the memories of me staying up all night completing all the previous AC games are still freshly embedded in my mind. I just can't believe that all my fears which already started in Assassin's Creed III has now come true. Assassin's Creed today is NOT Assassin's Creed.
So here are the things, mechanics, and elements I desperately hope to return to this once beloved franchise.
Ubisoft, if you're listening - bring Patrice Désilets back.
For those who don't know, Patrice Désilet is creator of the series and the father of Assassin's Creed. Unfortunately, he had left Ubisoft just after releasing AC: Brotherhood. That explains the degradation of the series starting Revelations.
If you want to know how he designed the original AC games and what he think of the new AC games after he left, check out his let's play of his own game Assassin's Creed 2 - with the fine guys over there at Double Fine Productions (creators of Pyschonauts). The shade he throws at the new succeeding AC games is just gold.

To simply say it has sex, violence, and bad language isn't enough since a lot of games also contain these things and are even worse. Therefore, the reasons should be deeper than what the back-of-the-box facts may suggest. Let's find out.

FYI: this video was supposed to be super in-depth with multiple comparisons for each graphics setting that warrants performance trade-offs. Unfortunately, both Sony Vegas Pro and Da Vinci Resolve wouldn't complete rendering and would always crash. Three days of straight editing all went to waste. So I just threw a prayer and tried Shotcut just for the sake of it. Fortunately, this was the only editing software that works for me. So consider this just a simplified straightforward guide that gets my point across without digging deep into the minutia of graphical nuances.

They've said it was too short; too mechanically anemic to be called a game. I would like to digress on that sentiment and instead present my own case on why The Walking Dead - despite its "thin" content - contributed relevance to the medium.

Someone called me. LOL. Anyways, here's just the second part. It's kinda crazy how Hitman evolved from this alpha build.
There were a lot of things that made me scared for the series' direction. Here are some of them: 1. NPCs no longer turn around when you walk/crouch-walk behind them. 2. No dedicated real-time map 3. Agent 47's face 4. Diana's voice actor 5. No more prepping of fiber wire when holding fire button
