As a non-American biographer who had cooperation from President Nixon while writing his book, Rev. Aitken brings a distinct perspective that makes his work stand apart from other Nixon biographies.
He noted that while the former president answered questions and gave lengthy interviews, he never restrained his work or asked to see a draft before it was completed.

Fifty years ago, the Vietnam War was brought to an end by President Nixon, and nearly 600 Prisoners of War returned to their families. Five decades after that extraordinary and emotional homecoming, the Richard Nixon Foundation hosted the official celebration of the 50th anniversary of their homecoming.
On May 24, 1973, President and Mrs. Nixon hosted the largest dinner in White House history—then and now—in honor of the Vietnam POWs. Exactly 50 years later, on May 24, 2023, 150 of those POWs gathered at the Nixon Library to recreate that dinner, complete with menu items and centerpieces.
In addition to the White House dinner recreation, reunion events included the grand opening of "Captured: Shot Down in Vietnam," a new, original special exhibition that chronicles the experiences of the Vietnam POWs. The community parade through the city of Yorba Linda and recognition and honors from the United States Military were also integral parts of the celebration.
Experience the emotional reunion as these brave POWs, who endured unimaginable hardships and sacrifices, reunite with their fellow comrades after half a century.
Be inspired by their unwavering bravery and the enduring power of American resilience, fortitude, and faith.

What lessons should the U.S. consider now regarding support for Ukraine? What defines victory in a 21st century global conflict, and what are the forces necessary to achieve it?
