Bonkers Quilt community project || Wendy and Jodie Annie Claxton 2025-09-20 | The weeks have flown by since I recorded this, the day before I set off to meet up with some lovely friends for our Stitchy Corner at the Bazaar August Show, set in the Sussex Prairies Wild gardens. Our quilt is almost full now, covered with wonderful hand-stitched pieces from all over the world. Today I have two more beauties from the UK to share with you, along with some unexpected textile treasures.Now that the main pieces have been placed, I'm continuing with the painstaking but enjoyable process of securing all the pieces, filling the gaps, and blending everything together into a cohesive whole - later the backing will be added, and the quilt will be hand-tied and edged to finish it off, until eventually it is ready to auction for charity. Inspired by Viviana || Trying trapunto Annie Claxton 2025-09-19 | Playing with gorgeous Bazaar scraps, experimenting with different ways to add colour, texture, and form to my Underwater World, inspired by the talented Viviana Molinares. I love the way she uses fabrics, beads and thread with the eye of an artist to create her fabulous textile collages. Over the coming weeks, I shall be studying examples of her work to see if I can emulate her fabulous style - and throw in a few of my own touches along the way of course!In this video, I'm adding shape to my octopus with my own bodgey version of the trapunto technique (see link below to Marion's tutorial showing how to do it properly!), then I'm starting to add texture and sparkle with stitching, beads and sequins. Bonkers Quilt community project || Debs and Pat Annie Claxton 2025-09-13 | Four weeks have flown by since we were sitting together in our beautiful Stitchy Corner at the Bazaar August Show, set in the Sussex Prairies Wild gardens - our quilt is almost full now, and pieces continue to come in from all over the world. Today I have happy mail and not-so-happy mail to share with you - a whole collection of beautiful pieces from Debs here in the UK, and sadly an empty envelope from Pat in the US, with an apology for the loss from the USPS. I feel so bad for Pat, as I know how much care and work she put into her piece. Beautiful Baltimore Album Quilt blocks from Paula Annie Claxton 2025-09-06 | Check out this parcel of wonderful work from Paula in the US - as well as a beautiful piece for our Bonkers Quilt community project, she's included some fabulous "orphan blocks" and little kit for me to have a go! It's so interesting and inspiring to see these examples of this style of quilting using needle turn applique. Bonkers Quilt community project || Jan C Annie Claxton 2025-09-04 | It's been more than two weeks since we were sitting together in our beautiful Stitchy Corner at the Bazaar August Show, set in the Sussex Prairies Wild gardens - our quilt is almost full now, and pieces continue to come in from all over the world. Today I have two wonderful pieces from Jan C to show you, along with some unexpected and very lovely extra surprises just for me! :) I'm quietly working on the painstaking but enjoyable process of securing all the pieces, filling the gaps, and blending everything together into a cohesive whole - later the backing will be added, and the quilt will be hand-tied and edged to finish it off, until eventually it is ready to auction for charity. Inspired by Viviana || Stuffing fish and prepping octopus Annie Claxton 2025-09-01 | Playing with gorgeous Bazaar scraps, experimenting with different ways to add colour, texture, and form to my Underwater World, inspired by the talented Viviana Molinares. I love the way she uses fabrics, beads and thread with the eye of an artist to create her fabulous textile collages. Over the coming weeks, I shall be studying examples of her work to see if I can emulate her fabulous style - and throw in a few of my own touches along the way of course!In this video, I'm stuffing a fish, adding more garnish to my background, and prepping my octopus - next time, I'll be starting a new section of my fold-out book, and embellishing my octopus with stitching, beads and interesting textures. Bonkers Quilt Progress || Hand-stitching || August Annie Claxton 2025-08-29 | It's hard to believe that it's a whole week since we were sitting together in our beautiful Stitchy Corner at the Bazaar August Show, set in the Sussex Prairies Wild gardens - what a wonderful weekend we all had, and how fabulous our Bonkers quilt is looking already. Now it's time to start the painstaking but enjoyable process of securing all the pieces, filling the gaps, and blending everything together into a cohesive whole - later the backing will be added, and the quilt will be hand-tied and edged to finish it off. Inspired by Viviana Molinares || Textile collage || Free template Annie Claxton 2025-08-11 | Inspiration at the ready, supplies gathered up, templates printed - now it's time to get stuck in to my Underwater World project, inspired by the wonderful Viviana Molinares! In this video, I'm assembling the first layer of my background, then using the free template to start creating the first fish for my watery world. Introducing Viviana Molinares || Planning a new textile art project Annie Claxton 2025-08-05 | We all enjoyed exploring the colourful and inspiring work of Maggie Morris last month, but now it's time for a new adventure! Welcome to the wonderful world of another inspirational member of our community - Viviana Molinares. If you haven't seen her work before, you're in for a treat, as I have lots of photos and some actual pieces to show you in this video. Over the coming weeks, I'll be looking closely at how Viviana uses scraps of fabric, beads and other materials to create her fabulous hand-stitched textile collages. I'll share techniques and tips with you, and templates will be available to make it easier if you're not confident with drawing your own. The project I have planned is quite ambitious, but you could easily adapt the ideas to create a smaller piece if you prefer.
