Obviously, this can have issues, such as the singular pillar in the bar saving that troop from the rays, but, it's a much cooler solution than just typical range checks.
Additionally, this did not strictly need to check the collisions against the agent, just the props. But, by determining the collisions, we can get a more accurate idea of the visibility.

I don't think I did it correctly, but by taking the dot function of the eye and the surface normal, and then the dot function of the light direction and the surface normal, and multiplying them together, you can get this effect pretty cheaply.
