Ice Bucket Challenge for ALS themaddestcat 2014-08-09 | In which I pour ice water on my head to help raise awareness for ALS.Yes, I know that dumping ice water on my head isn't going to cure ALS. But awareness helps, and donating to help fund research/support families certainly does its part, so maybe you can do both? I may not have $100, but I have $5, and that's something. Make a video, share mine, tell someone about ALS. Here's a brief summary of the disease from the ALS Association: "Amyotrophic lateral sclerosis (ALS) is a progressive neurodegenerative disease that affects nerve cells in the brain and the spinal cord. Motor neurons reach from the brain to the spinal cord and from the spinal cord to the muscles throughout the body. The progressive degeneration of the motor neurons in ALS eventually leads to their death. When the motor neurons die, the ability of the brain to initiate and control muscle movement is lost.
