My family has been in the process of moving and I have lacked internet at home for the past... two months... bleh. I apologize for the lack of videos lately. Anyway, I am not sure when I will be able to start uploading Persona 3 videos again, which I plan to finish by the way, since a certain stubborn family member refuses to allow internet in the new house. Dungeon crawling is pretty intense. I tried to get to go as far as I could in a previous video, but Yukari became too tired and was eventually knocked out. So, of course, I retreated.

This time I was able to progress pretty far... well considering my level and my characters' stamina. I didn't realize that characters took more damage when they were tired. I was pretty worried about Minato after getting hit by such powerful attacks. It was pretty close in the end too. I will do my best to complete Tartarus in sets to avoid unnecessary dungeon crawls that end up in either failure or my characters getting worn out before the boss fights.

Establishing Social Links is pretty important in this game, that is if you want to create powerful Personae. Is it me or does it seem a little selfish to go around establishing bonds with people just so one can become stronger? On the other hand, to be selfless and not create Social Links would endanger not only himself, but the whole team and world he is trying to protect. Is there some sort of link to selfishness and selflessness? Can one truly be selfless without being at least a little selfish?

Enough of my philosophical questioning for now. I am probably just crazy sounding anyway. Haha.

Today I will be review some of the honorifics used in the Persona games. Before I go on any tangents or explanations, I want to explain what honorifics are. An honorific is a title or word to show respect, status or politeness. You may have already noticed them being used quite a bit already. Here are some examples of these honorifics: Yuka-tan, Mitsuru-senpai and Ikutasuki-san.

To be honest, I originally found it somewhat annoying to hear these honorifics with English voice actors. It felt like the voice actors were trying too hard to be something they were not. I, however, grew accustom to the honorifics being used and it does not bother me anymore. In the end, I feel that it only adds to the culture being presented here... granted it may not be the most excellent way to experience the culture, it is at least an attempt and it provides an experience that may not have been there if the honorifics were removed entirely.

Moving on, I will go into detail on some of the honorifics.
You may have noticed Junpei calling Yukari "Yuka-tan". The honorific tan is actually a young child's mispronunciation of chan. When tan is used by an adult, unless it is addressing a young child, it could mean the adult is intending to be ironic or sarcastic. I am not really clear why Junpei calls Yukari "Yuka-tan" because he states the he transferred into the school himself and probably has not know Yukari that long. My guess is that is almost like a nickname of sorts since Junpei does not sound like he is trying to be ironic or sarcastic. Yukari also does not take any offense to it when Junpei calls her "Yuka-tan".

San is a term of respect and deference. This is usually used when addressing one's elders, people of the the same class or even when just addressing people one does not know. In English, san is in close analog with titles such as mister and miss.

Kun is a term of familiarity. This is used for mostly boys. It can be used for females as well, but it is most commonly used for boys.

Chan is also a term of familiarity and is used mostly for females. It can be used for males, but unlike kun, it sways in the two extremes. It can be either condescending or intimate for males.

Sensei is probably the most recognizable. This is usually used when talking with professions, most commonly with teachers, doctors, lawyers, etc.

Senpai is used to address a senior (a mentor) figure. However this is not used to address the teacher. To put this into perspective, pretend you are in 11th grade and you live next door to a 12th grader. You would call him senpai. Likewise, the honorific to address a junior figure is kohai. Kohai is rarely used though. Kun is often used inplace of kohai. These types of relationships are generally few and far between here in America. I have noticed this type of relationship in Pokemon games. Anyone ever remember fighting the double battles against the Junior and Senior trainers? They were usually two female characters.

Sama will be the last one I briefly cover. It, essentially, is a very high form of respect that one can give, if not a higher form of san. It is usually used to address authority figures. It can be used to address customers, addresses of mail on letters and packages or someone that is greatly admired.

This marks the beginning of a blind playthrough of Persona 3. What first attracted me was the music that I played in one of my Pokemon Revolution Friend battle videos. I have xxXTokyoCrossingXxx to thank for that. I fell in love with Persona 3 immediately after seeing some samples of it being played.

From my experience thus far, this game is like a dating simulator (not that I have ever actually played one) and battle role playing game thrown into one. It is a game that is also rich with culture, most of which I am unfamiliar with. I will be doing research along side the game on topics I may not understand or know. Then I will post my finding on each video for others who seek to understand which they do not. If anyone has any information or experience to share on a topic that pops up in game, feel free to leave a comment or message me about it. I will be happy to add it to the description.

This is just an alternate opening for the game Persona 3 FES. I believe this opening deals more with the events of The Journey, rather than The Answer.

Persona 3 FES: The Journey - April 7th to 17th, 2009 | The Beginning

Right off the bat we are introduced to the Japanese culture. The school year actually begins in April. The students also go to school six days a week instead of five days a week like here in America. Sunday is the students' only day off.

You may have notices the shoe lockers in the school at Gekkoukan High. This area is actually a larger version of genkan. Genkan are an entry way and a place where one leaves their shoes before entering. Genkan are often recessed to hold any and all of the dirt that is tracked in. In essence, genkan are like a mudroom of sorts. Some genkan may be tiled or made of concrete. These types of genkan are called tataki. The lockers for the shoes in the school are called getabako. From what I understand, genkan are for preventing dirt from outside the house into the home. This idea I can relate to as I detest having dirt all around the house. Just as a side note, slippers are often worn around the house in place of shoes.

Pokemon Battle Revolution- Title Screen and Game Preview

I know it has been a while since I've uploaded anything, so I figured I'd upload some battles today with my day off. I was thinking yesterday that I haven't uploaded this game's title screen or game preview yet. Usually I do that for my playthroughs, and since I have made the majority of my videos here on You Tube P.B.R. battles, I figured I better get on that.

I don't know if I'll record any online battle for a while. My net always seems to be shot in one way or another, especially with online gaming. Maybe one day I'll get back up to speed with online battling. I do have some teams in the works, but I haven't touched my D.S. in a long time. School has been occupying much of my life as I come to the end of my undergraduate degree.
