Domain-Driven Design in Produzione - Alessandro Colla e Alberto Acerbis - Avanscoperta Workshop

🎙️ Time to talk about Training from the BACK of the Room (TBR)... again!
We welcome the opportunity to discuss this revolutionary teaching method with Jean-Paul Bayley, one of the most prominent folks in the TBR community and the European Certifier for Training from the BACK of the Room!, together with Marco Dussin, who's been teaching the first-ever Italian in-person version of the workshop in the past years.
😎 Fun facts - all of our training courses are designed according to the TBR principles, and did you know that Marco got his certification during a workshop led by Jean-Paul himself?
We'll discuss what TBR is, and why it is such a game-changer whether you're a facilitator, coach, team leader, and its relevance anytime you'll simply need to enable the transmission of knowledge among adults.
As usual, you'll have a chance to interact with Jean-Paul and Marco and your fellow participants by joining the YouTube chat during the live streaming. Plenty of space for your questions: let's make this interactive!

Jean-Paul Bayley and Marco Dussin
📰 Bio
Jean-Paul Bayley has been a TBR-CT since 2015. In 2021, Sharon Bowman, creator of Training from the BACK of the Room, asked him to become the European Certifier for Training from the BACK of the Room!.
JP is a keen student of how humans learn best and has written extensively about Training from the BACK of the Room! He is heavily involved with the TBR community and was part of the team that created the course's Virtual Edition.
Beyond TBR, Jean-Paul is also a PST, PKT, FLG, and a Partner of Actineo Consulting LLP.
In his day-to-day work, he applies the 4Cs and 6 Trumps to design engaging and memorable learning experiences for both in-person and virtual attendees.
Marco is a strategic consultant, agile trainer, and learning designer. In 2022 he achieved the Trainer Certification in Training from the BACK of the Room!.
It helps people and their organizations create more valuable products, services and experiences quickly and efficiently by intertwining Lean, Agile and Design Thinking.
One of Marco’s passions is training by exploring and designing learning experiences based on the way our brains actually learn.
He likes to play, seriously: he believes that our hands are the natural extension of our brain and playing allows us to maximize the quality and quantity of learning, entering into relationships with others. We have been like this for thousands of years.
Marco is a great enthusiast of approaches based on experimentation, a true natural antidote against uncertainty. That same uncertainty that requires a significant change in the way management thinks.

📝 Abstract

"I have participated to the workshop by Marijn Huizendveld called Practical Strategy for Digital Organizations in May 2023. And I can tell you two things to encourage you to take it. The first point, and the main point I think, is a fact that I really appreciated, as Marijn arrives with a vision, his own vision, that he has developed for himself. He has, in his own practice, connected the dots between Wardley Mapping and OKR, and he has really developed a way to work with it and he is transferring all this experience and this knowledge into a workshop... and it's really not a standard workshop. It's not something that you can find anywhere else. So, if you are interested in this topic it's a very interesting workshop. And the second point is about the professionalism and the quality of the workshop. it's really well-prepared and it's well organized. The time is very well used, so overall the value for money is really, really high."

Time for the last meetup of the season, and for this, we have a very special guest - Marco Perone!
Let's dig into the world of "functional programming meets Domain-Driven Design" once again.
👉 Title
Domain modelling with state machines
📝 Abstract
State machines are a software abstraction to model stateful systems, which come with several practical benefits: they are conceptually simple but can be formally defined; they can easily be composed in several ways to build complex machines starting from simple ones; they lend themselves naturally to be described graphically.
Moreover, they fit nicely to represent components of a DDD/ES/CQRS architecture, as aggregates, projections, and policies, providing us with a nice tool to precisely describe our domain behavior.
We will see how we can use state machines to describe the domain of an application in a composable way, and generate an architecture diagram out of the domain definition.
As usual, you'll have a chance to interact with Marco and your fellow participants by joining the YouTube chat during the live streaming. Plenty of space for your questions: let's make this interactive!

👉 Titolo
Kill Aggregate!
📝 Abstract

Small Talk is a series of live-stream interactive events with our experts, an informal 30-minute chat on their area of expertise where you'll have a chance to interact with them, ask questions and learn straight from the source.
This time we talk with Marijn Huizendveld, author of the Practical Strategy for Digital Organizations Workshop.
Small Talk is a chance to go behind the scenes of our experts' work and get a sneak peek of what their workshop will be about and, as usual, you’ll be able to join the conversation by asking questions from home.
Always wanted to ask a trainer that burning question about what they do? Now you have a chance!
We’ll discuss why and how OKR and Wardley Mapping work well together, how the idea came about, and what type of people and organizations will benefit most from this approach. We'll also get an overview of how the workshop will actually work and what we are gonna get out of it - our goal is always to provide some tools and ideas you can start implementing in your work from day one after the workshop.

Aggre-what? Lots of talking about aggregates in the DDD world, yet one of the questions we receive more often at workshops and during events is... what is an aggregate "exactly"? How do you design a good aggregate?
DDD expert Mariusz Gil's got the answer. Let's find out in this presentation, based on a concrete and real example, where you can ask questions through the YouTube chat in real-time.
👉 Title
Designing and Implementing Aggregates
📝 Abstract
One technique of the Domain-Driven design approach is the Aggregate concept. This well-applied pattern of tactical DDD allows us to safely perform complex data modifications in a system, making it bulletproof regarding data consistency and correctness.
However, designing such objects is sometimes problematic, as is discovering important immutables whose consistency we should guarantee.
During the session, we will go through the process of analyzing, modelling and implementing a sample aggregate using a concrete example.
We will also learn about principles, good and bad modelling practices, helpful heuristics, and facilitating the whole analysis and modelling process.
As usual, you'll have a chance to interact with Mariusz and your fellow participants by joining the YouTube chat during the live streaming. Plenty of space for your questions: let's make this interactive!

One of the most interesting and useful approaches out there, Wardley Mapping has been fascinating us since the beginning. Two years ago we had the opportunity to host Simon Wardley, the man himself, for a 3-hour Bootcamp which served as an intro to Wardley Mapping, and we're now happy to be able to offer another training course on the same topic with one of the most well-known experts on the field, Mr. Ben Mosior.
And so we thought, why don’t we organize a panel to talk a bit more about Wardley Mapping with Ben and some of our experts who already know Wardley mapping quite well?
Once again, this will be a highly interactive event, and with Xin, Marijn and Marco we’ll try to understand why Wardley Mapping is useful, we’ll learn about some real-case scenarios where it’s been implemented successfully, how to get started, and what challenges it represents.
So join us for this panel with Ben Mosior, Xin Yao, Marijn Huizendveld and Marco Heimeshoff and, in pure Avanscoperta fashion, there will be plenty of space for your questions.

The first Small Talk of the year will see the comeback of Gojko Adzic, book author and one of our trainers. Let's understand a bit more about Specification By Example, a book he published in 2011 (which is also the title of his upcoming workshop).
In a nutshell, Specification By Example is a collaborative approach to defining requirements and tests based on capturing realistic examples instead of abstract statements.
Small Talk is a chance to go behind the scenes of our experts' work and get a sneak peek of what their workshop will be about and, as usual, you’ll be able to join the conversation by asking questions from home.
Always wanted to ask a trainer that burning question about what they do? Now you have a chance!
We’ll discuss how Gojko's Specification By Example workshop was born, why it is useful, if it is still relevant after more than 10 years from its creation, what type of professionals will benefit from this the most, what type of exercises we’ll be doing in the workshop and how these will enable you to learn the key concepts during the class.
Did we say it already? You’re encouraged to be part of the conversation and ask questions during the live streaming through the chat provided by YouTube.
When: Tuesday 18th January 2022, from 1 pm CET
Who: Gojko Adzic is a partner at Neuri Consulting LLP. He is the winner of the 2016 European Software Testing Outstanding Achievement Award, and the 2011 Most Influential Agile Testing Professional Award.

What comes after Management 3.0, SAFe, and the Spotify Model?
Well, it’s not hard to see in which direction the world is moving: organizations that consist of networked individuals who work from anywhere, who form teams on the fly, who aim for objectives and achieve results, and make that a whole lotta fun for themselves. Such an organization can do anything!
All organizations need business agility and continuous innovation. But if you work exclusively with dedicated teams that always need to go through forming, storming, and norming stages before they can finally perform, you’re out of luck. That’s neither agile nor innovative. The accelerated pace of change in the world asks for more fluidity of work structures and a switch from dedicated teams to dynamic teaming.
We'll talk about this with Jurgen Appelo and Alberto Brandolini and, in pure Avanscoperta fashion, there will be plenty of space for your questions.

A gentle introduction to Microservices
📰 Abstract

👉 Title
Building better domain models with functions
🔶 Abstract
Functional programming has gained popularity in the last years, and rightfully so. Despite being the older of the two most used paradigms in software development, it is still a pretty rare find in the line of business software. And yet, functional programming offers a simpler, cleaner and better-aligned way to implement complex domain models without a lot of the overhead that OOP brings along.
Let's explore when and how functional programming can bring the best out of your domain models and how to build simple, decoupled and behaviour-rich systems.
No upfront knowledge in DDD, F# or functional programming is necessary.
