One of the best dystopian platform games Ive played. White Notes 2024-12-28 | If you haven't yet, go play this game.Seriously, this game needs more attention. I wasn't able to upload a video until now despite having seen the story a while ago when it came out, but I knew I still had to make one to share the experience.SANABI was one of the rare games able to achieve great gameplay, emotional story, and beautiful graphics all at the same time. Although some say the gameplay is too spread out due to the dialogue, I think the story itself is immersive enough that it doesn't matter (unless you really wanted to only have action the whole time).Anyways, this is the main theme of the game, 'SANABI', arranged for the piano. It's one of the cutesy-silly songs used in various memorial lobbies in the game, although I would say the "funny" part has more weight most of the time ;)Despite being used that way, the song's title originally means "rolling rabbits", in the sense of rolling and running around. The quality was understandable once I heard people from the Chainsaw Man opening worked on this, and it's amazing what they've achieved.The song itself could be said to be one of those "typical" opening songs; the characters singing together with lyrics reflecting their personalities, the chord progression not so complex like many in-game soundtracks, but I'd argue it still has its own charm.To make the arrangement as engaging as possible, I put a lot of contrast between the choruses and verses, by using different registers on the piano and varying the dynamics. It actually took around several months to complete it, as I scrapped and replaced ideas here and there to make the experience worth it.A self-analysis of the arrangement:0:02 Intro: Iconic bassline. Unlike most other arrangements, I included the "mute slap" as well.0:16 Verse 1-a: Right hand plays chords below melody to create the rhythm of section. The accordion part was tricky to combine.0:44 Verse 1-b: Chords & rhythm was emphasized by jumps, leading to a soft section giving a stark contrast before exploding into the chorus.1:00 Chorus 1: Rhythm divided across both hands (syncopation) to give the driving force.1:31 Verse 2-a: Complex combination of triplets over 16th-note-based bassline.1:45 Verse 2-b: Variation of verse 1-b. HINA!!!!!!!!! White Notes 2024-02-01 | Hina is a goddess...As you already know, I've been waiting for the official version of this song to come out. The revealed song title is called ๅคข่ทฏใฎ่ฑ (Yumeji no Hana), which roughly translates to "Road Flower in a Dream". I loved the different emotions that were conveyed, calm, nostalgic, mysterious, melancholic... the way Mitsukiyo uses harmony is just wonderful.Although there have been covers of this song already, I personally took the challenge to combine the vocals and piano accompaniment into a solo performance. Deciding where to emphasize which original part was the biggest thought I had in mind while arranging, while also giving variations to the melody to not make the piece boring.Combined with the wonderful in-game graphics and official PV, I hope I was able to express the same emotions of the original song. [Blue Archive] Get Set, Go! Event BGM | Goal Wo Nerae! (Piano) White Notes 2023-04-26 | The 2nd part of the Kivotos Halo Festival has started!This event's BGM, "Goal Wo Nerae!", is another great song made by KARUT. Again, you can really feel the atmosphere of the sports festival by all the cheering and whistling in the track! The main melody also seems to be similar to "Shooting Athletes", which creates an overall connection between the two events at Millennium.Most of the song was ok arranging it, but the most difficult part was of course the chanting/cheering section. The chaotic, cheerful but harmless feeling of the song fits the story really well!The instrumentation of the song reminded me of soundtracks used in Fall Guys, so in order to create the same feeling I tried to emphasize the rhythm as much as I could by placing accents and using some 'jazzy' riffs for some sections.This is just speculation, but I also felt the main melody was similar to the opening theme of Tom and Jerry, which is very fitting to the story again if it's true. Mikas Prayer | Kyrie Eleison (Blue Archive BGM) [Piano] White Notes 2023-02-15 | Kyrie Eleison. Probably the most important keyword for the 4th chapter of the Eden Treaty, which has finally come to an end with the recent update. Once again, Blue Archive's scenario writer, isakusan, gave us a wonderful story to enjoy.This arrangement is a special one, almost a composition/re-imagined version I would say. Although I could have just transcribed the original soundtrack, I thought it would be better to further expand on the idea and make an actual "Mika's Theme", so that's what I tried.Based on both the soundtrack and the original Gregorian chant, I tried to express the feeling of the story: Mika praying for others for the first time, and herself being eventually saved, with a sense of hope. MOMOI!!๐ข White Notes 2022-12-24 | A lot of stuff happened recently to our GOTY developers: Momoi and Midori had their birthdays, a new main story (JP server) was updated in the game, and Alice was in the main poster for the Blue Archive festival in Akihabara! Hope Yuzu gets the spotlight too someday :)Today's arrangement is 'Pixel time', the theme for the game development department. This track is always pleasant to listen to, the retro 8-bit sounds really represent the cozy feeling of the messy club room. I saw some covers of this song, but I wanted to try making a full transcription instead for for solo.I distributed the colors of the notes by imagining each character playing their part. The bass is played by Yuzu, steady but quiet; the chords by Alice(Arisu, Aris, however you want to call her), motivated but sometimes unpredictable; and the melodies by the twins, with their constant back-and-forth interaction.Starting from 1:23, I inserted solos for each 'person'. It was already quite popular before its official release for the catchy melody and cute & bouncy sounds, which I liked as well. Dubstep Battle Theme on Piano | Interface (Blue Archive BGM) White Notes 2022-10-30 | Happy first anniversary Blue Archive!So this time I made a piano arrangement of one of the battle soundtracks used in the game, "Interface". It plays in a lot of stages: missions/campaigns 3, 10, and 14. Aside from some covers for the raid boss themes, it seemed like nobody had made an attempt yet to arrange the normal battle songs, so I gave it a try.The challenge became quite obvious while working on it, which was the dubstep section. I had to think how to play the mechanical sound effects on the piano, while trying to let the overall sound clean enough so that the listener can discern what was being performed. The way I solved this was trying to use a more wider range, instead of staying in the lower realm like in the original track.Another obstacle was the buildup - drop part, which is especially important part for the dubstep genre. In the end I arranged this section by inserting chromatically ascending notes.As for the video playing in the background, I recorded a footage of one of the stages where the soundtrack was used. Lycoris Recoil ED - Hana no Tou [Piano Cover] White Notes 2022-09-24 | The final episode of my favorite anime this season, Lycoris Recoil, airs at last. It was quite the journey, seeing how our main characters' relationship develop put a smile on my face, and I hope we get a satisfying conclusion.The ED of this anime is as good as the OP (or even better!), and I really liked the intensity of the vocals. The singer (Sayuri) sounded familiar, and I later noticed that she also sung the ED of 'Erased (Boku Dake Inai Machi)', which was another anime that was cool to watch.The VAs of Chisato and Takina mentioned that the song sometimes sounds sad if you really focus on the lyrics, and I think so too. I recommend checking it out if you're curious :)The highlight of this arrangement is without doubt the chorus, especially the part that starts around 1:00~1:02. The LH pattern was inspired by the drums, which I thought was crucial for the fiery intensity of the song. (also appropriately notated with "con fuoco!")I had lots of fun working on this song, as much as I'm enjoying the anime. Lycoris Recoil OP - ALIVE (Piano Arrangement) White Notes 2022-09-11 | This anime has got to be one of my favorites :)Today's arrangement is the opening theme "ALIVE" from "Lycoris Recoil", an original anime series which is currently airing. The storytelling, characters, and music are all awesome, and I'm really glad I was able to finish this arrangement before the season was over. If you haven't checked out the anime yet, give it a try, especially if you want some anime John Wick action!As for the arrangement, I spent a lot of time trying to figure out how the chorus should be played. At first I thought I should let the left hand play simple octaves, because the bass line was strong at that part in the song. However, it sounded too bland and lacked the rapidness of the original sound, so I eventually spread out the notes and combined the drum part for the left hand.(btw, don't fret too much about the tempo changes, it's not that drastic anyway!)It's been several months since my last video, and I'm happy to finally upload something again. SPYรFAMILY ED - Comedy [Piano Arrangement] White Notes 2022-04-29 | Anya is so cute (โยดโก`โ)This is my arrangement of "Comedy(ๅๅ/Kigeki)", the ending theme of the currently airing anime SPYxFAMILY. I had seen the main characters here and there for a while, but after the anime was announced I tried to avoid any spoilers as hard as I could. And man, what a wholesome anime it is! As much as I liked the story, I couldn't help but notice how good the OSTs were. Being my first time arranging a song with lo-fi aesthetics, it was a fresh experience to figure out new chord progressions I haven't used before. Also, based on my knowledge about lo-fi songs obtained from other YouTube channels, I tried to reproduce the sloppy/drunken beat by purposely displacing notes from the grid (hope it doesn't sound too awkward).I think this sheet might be a rare occasion where the right hand part is harder than the left hand, because I made it play the melody and the chords at the same time with complex rhythms (at least the chorus is simpler!). Yorushika - Blur [Piano Arrangement] White Notes 2022-04-08 | It's been a long time.Here's my long-awaited arrangement of Yorushika's "Blur(่ไบไน/Ai Nijou)". Although I wanted to upload a new video asap, I thought I needed to prioritize myself on making an arrangement I'd be satisfied with first. (actually it's because I struggled a lot coming up with ideas to complete it lol)It was a challenge to convey the same feeling of the original song, and while I tried to make the arrangement as similar as possible to it, I made variations for each chorus to make the sheet more interesting. (oh, and as always, there's a "subtle" easter egg somewhere... ;) )The beginning of this arrangement was inspired by another one of my favorite bands, supercell. HIFUMI DAISUKI White Notes 2022-01-14 | Looks like we all know who's the composer's waifu now XDHere's my arrangement of 'Hifumi Daisuki', one of the soundtracks used in the mobile gacha game Blue Archive. This song in particular was used for Ajitani Hifumi's memorial lobby (obviously intended lol), and became somewhat a meme after somebody made a vocaloid version of it.It was a challenge to mimic the smooth but strong bass/synths used in the song. Their songs were a constant surprise to me mostly because of the songs' structure; it almost feels like a jumpscare how unexpected the song progresses. I was planning to work on this group's songs someday, and I thought it was a good opportunity to start when this one was released.One thing I immediately have to point out is that the song's tempo is insanely fast (BPM=235)! Because of this, I decided to keep the left hand simple with jumps you often see from other arrangers like ใพใใใ(marasy8). Still, I think you'd need some strength to play this, it'd be quite challenging to maintain the fast playing for 3 minutes. Takt Op. Destiny OP - ใtaktใ| ryo (supercell) (TV Size)[Piano Arrangement] White Notes 2021-11-13 | I have high hopes for this anime. What a banger OP!This time I arranged "ใtakt(ใฟใฏใ)ใ" by ryo from supercell (featuring ใพใตใพใต and gaku), which is the opening song of the currently airing anime "Takt Op. Destiny". I'm really excited about this anime, the first few episodes were very interesting to watch!The composer, ryo, made countless famous songs in the anime community, such as those from supercell and EGOIST. Guilty Crown, Bakemonogatari, PSYCHO-PASS are some of the animes which used their songs. ใพใตใพใต(Mafumafu) and gaku are also popular singers, so you can imagine how big of a collaboration this song is.I watched a lot of other people's arrangements while working on this, and it seemed the main struggle was arranging the chorus and the rhythm of the verses. The song's time signature is quite unusual, using alternating measures: 13/4 = 7/4 + 6/4 and 12/4 = 6/4 + 6/4. The notation for the time signature in the sheet can be often seen in jazz or classical music.As for the chorus, I found out that the intensity actually came from the hi-hats playing 16th notes, whereas almost all other instruments play 8th notes. This was crucial for conveying the same feeling of the original, since every attempt to arrange the chorus using 8th notes sounded too loose for me. In the end, I modified the LH pattern to mimic the bass and drums at once.This arrangement's difficulty is very high because of the fast tempo and techniques needed throughout the song. ใจใซใทใซ - ใ้ไบกใ (ใใตใใใฎใใPV ่จๅฟตๆฒ)[ใใขใ] White Notes 2021-10-30 | Back with another song from Yorushika.Today's song is '้ไบก(Escape)', which was used for the collaboration video of "ใใตใใใฎใใ(Call of the Night/Yofukashi no Uta)", a slice of life/rom-com manga series about humans and vampires. Somehow, I think it's only a matter of time for this to get an anime adaptation, considering the popularity of the author's previous work, "ใ ใใใใ(Dagashi Kashi)".Overall the song is a pretty chill piece, no bursts of emotion or extreme instrumentation. This was part of the reason why it was hard to make the arrangement interesting. I tried to solve this by raising the melody an octave higher at the last chorus and interlude that follows right after it, and also by giving small variations here and there. (Oh, and that jazzy piano solo at the end was also challenging, but it was fun to arrange)Although there aren't any crazy jumps or arpeggios in this arrangement, the "fast" swing rhythm makes it really hard to play at original speed. In case you think too many notes are being played, you could throw away some notes from octaves to make it simpler!It's been a while since I hit 5000 subscribers, and I want to thank you all for enjoying the arrangements I've made. It's kind of hard to imagine that so many people are watching my videos haha. Imagine Dragons - Believer [Piano Arrangement] White Notes 2021-09-21 | Hello everyone, long time no see :)This time I worked on something different from my usual picks for arrangements (the usual being Jpop/Anime, although it's not that I've never tried arranging different genres before).The song, Believer, has probably been arranged countless times on YouTube, but I thought it was possible to make my own rendition, without being mundane and repetitive due to the sheer amount of arrangements out there.So, what was the idea? I think the LH accompaniment at the start of this arrangement was the most important part that let me believe it would be worth it to work on this song. After watching a lot of arrangements by various talented people on YouTube, I noticed that most of the time the intensity of the song immediately went down when the verse started, although in my opinion the drums were much more important to keep the gritty(?) vibe of the song going. That's why I tried to find a way to express the drums better, and ended up with the LH pattern which is played throughout the arrangement.Another task for making the arrangement interesting was the ending. It's not easy to convey the same feeling of the original version, since it ends abruptly with reverb. You could try copying it on the piano, but I thought it was just too sudden and unnatural for the instrument's timbre. The solution I came up with in the end was to write a new chord progression (using other arrangements for reference) and finish it using the LH pattern at the start, giving a more 'conclusive' feeling. It took some time to make it, but I'm glad it's done :)Because I wanted to maintain the intensity throughout the piece, I think it might have become too difficult for some people to try and perform it.
